Rotator Cuff (HELP!!)
I don't know what happened but it all started after that shoulder workout I did last week.
I read an article saying to avoid doing behind the neck barbell press. But I refused to follow and do it anyway because I heard it is a mass building shoulder exercise.
After I did that, I could even do Arnold press for my next set, let alone side lateral raise.
I feel pain in my rotator cuff, and I couldn't do anymore lifting..that's it.
Then two days later, I went to the gym for my chest day. What happened was, I did the Incline Smith Press with heavy weights because I'm trying to build up mass.
When I was doing my last rep, I couldn't push the bar up and it is stuck on my neck. Thank God I was doing it with a smith machine that I could lock it and there was no one looking.
IT WAS THE FIRST WORKOUT ROUTINE!! How is that possible.
Right after that, I took a DB and did the Flat Bench Press. Again, at only the first set, I couldn't push it. Just by holding the DB(like when u do a shoulder shrug) to put it down, my rotator cuff hurts so badly.
It has effect my goal. I couldn't even been able to do Dips. Not even one due to the pain.
It felt like a sharp knife is poking at my bone.
It has been a week since I last go the gym, I'm scared if I were to go again I would waste my time and money for the gym and make a fool out of myself by going to the gym and leave 5mins later.
Why is this happening? How do I heal it? Was it even rotator cuff that causing the pain?
I hate it sooo much..People pls help if u know!!

go to the doctor (sports orthopedist) ASAP!
it sounds like you damaged your rotator cuff (that is a VERY VERY serious injury) which can often require surgery and take months or years to fully recover.
for now, ice it it and don't use that arm for anything!
best of luck.

Firstly tell us exactly where you believe your rotator cuff is, and then tell us were the pain is.

he can't lift weights. thats the sign of something wrong. it may not be exactly a rotator cuff injury but he certainly strained/rupture/tore a muscle/tendon/etc
get it checked out, better save than sorry

of course its a sign of something wrong but if the guy doesn't know were his rotator cuff is, or doesn't give a good description of were the pain is and then comes on the forum asking for help about diagnosising what is... or what he should do... how am I or anyone else meant to help?

i'm not diagnosing it. all i'm saying is it sounds quite serious. i've had ruptured/strained/torn tendons/muscles/etc from baseball and theyre painful and take forever to heal and i wished i wouldve gone to the doctor asap when they happened instead of trying to tough it out

It's the joint that connect the arm and shoulder. I don't know how to describe but it's at the top of the shoulder.
I doubt it's the muscle because when I tried to put down the DB to the DB rack, the pain comes from the inside the muscle that it makes me almost want to just let go of the DB. I mean come on, I just did a set of Flat Bench and there's no way my arms could be pumped so fast.

I guess u're right. I think I should go and do a check up, but now I don't feel any pain when I'm at home or beside the gym. Maybe I'll feel it again the next time round I go to the gym.
Anyway, I'm not sure if u know, but if I really injured my rotator cuff, what caused it and what's the worst that could happen if I don't go to a doctor??

coming from a guy who just had surgery on his shoulder....
If you have a sharp pain in any joint, something is wrong. Best case its something like tendonitis. Worst case is something is torn.
The rotator cuff is actually 4 small muscles in the shoulder. Also its possible you have damaged your labrum.
You should probably take about 4 weeks off of upper body lifting. During this period you should do some excercises that strengthen the rotator cuff with light weights and surgical tubing. The alternative could be 4 months and a 40,000 dollar surgery.
