help please
First of all I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I've wanted to lose weight for awhile now but can't seem to get passed my own depression about how I look. I want to go to the gym but I feel as if while i'm there people are just staring at me and making fun of me in there heads. I don't eat out anymore cause I feel like people are staring at me and making fun of me for eating. I don't go to the park to workout either for the same reasons. I just go to work everyday and come home and watch tv and sleep..I know this sounds bad but I do it cause no one is here to make fun of me I guess.
I came here because I was hoping maybe someone here went through the same thing and they could help me through this. I am just so ashamed of myself at this point I don't know how I can overcome this feeling. I can't go to my parents because there worse off than I am and all my friends are bigger than me so its hard to talk to them as well.

I've had similar feelings. Tell me some more information so I can help. Give me your stats, history, how much willpower you have, etcetera. The more information you give here the better responses you will get from people and the better probability of your success.

The fact that you are trying to do something about it is a great first step. If you do some research on this site it can help you get some of the information you need to start reaching your goals. The fact that you posted at all is great it means you really want to do something. You might consider talking to your Dr. as well because it sounds as if you may have a little depression going on that they can help with. Once you take that first step and start working hard, you will begin to see results and that will help motivate you. You also can't worry about other people, you can only change/control yourself. If you have questions be honest and post them here and people will help you out. Good luck and hang in there, your hard work will be rewarded.

Well lets see.. right now I am 24 yrs old weigh 319lbs I am 5'11'' As far as willpower goes, I am all alone or at least it feels that way. I have no one to workout with or talk to it seems like whichever way I turn my head something feels like it's in my way.
History: in 2004 I graduated from high school at 199 lbs, signed up for the military and I hurt my knee had surgery went to college and I drank and partied and gained all my weight. Now i just work and sleep pretty much.
Goals: Well I would like to lose the weight so I can re-join the military again. I would have to get down to 200lbs to go to bootcamp so that would have to be my goal. but small goals would be to not feel ashamed to leave my house or be in public with other people.
I did go to a recruiting office once last year to ask for some help so I could rejoin he told me not to waste his time and I haven't been back there ever since. I do try to do those Workout DVD's but my house is so small and when I do some exercises like jumping jacks stuff falls and breaks, and then my ceiling fans are in the way and it hinders my efforts on that front.
As far as good goes I am not to picky but I refuse to eat seafood if it lived in the water its gross...I don't like carrots or Cauliflower but thats about the only things I wont try or don't like. I like subway but I got a feeling that the Sweet Onion sauce isn't good for me. I can't really think of any other information to give to you guys for more help.
thanks for the replies thus far.

Whenever I see a big guy at the gym, I always think to myself "there's somebody who's doing something about their weight." I think most people will feel the same way, because it's commendable that you're making an effort rather than continuing to let the problem grow. Sometimes you just have to man it out and realize that these are the necessary steps to get to where you want to be. Do you want to go another year at the same weight, possibly heavier, just because you think people are judging you?
Additionally, going to the gym and burning that fat will boost your confidence and help to get rid of that self-consciousness.
