OJ + Raisins + Whey + NO then wait 30 mins.
Then sip on Whey/Xtend/carb source during workout. Works pretty good for me. You gotta get used to it though. PTing at 5am you get used to it.

I tried lifting yesterday morning having only drank a red bull and eaten a banana
Holy **** was I weak as hell.
Did 3 sets of weighted dips, some chest presses, some pushdowns, skullcrushers, pull-ups and pull-downs and I was f*cked
Not recommended...

I used to wake up at 4am and quickly eat a bowl of oats and down a shake before hitting the gym at 5. I couldn't imagine hitting the gym with nothing in me.

Because of a work schedule change, I've been "trying" to get to the gym at 4 am. The few times i did it, i had a bowl of oatmeal and NO Shotgun and was fine at the gym. When i got to work i would microwave a breakfast burrito I made the night before.
Unfortunately, I overslept my alarm, so I'm either gonna have to make it up at 4PM, and hope there is not a sign-up for the squat racks, or wait till 7pm and hope i can avoid the dude that keeps pushing juice on me

I workout at 5:30am and wake up at 4:50am on workout days. I have always worked out in the morning and have never done the pre-workout meal thing. I prefer the empty stomach feeling (no bloat, no nausea). I never have a problem with energy. If your daily nutrition is on point, you should be fine in the morning once you adjust to working out without a meal. Everyone should keep in mind that glycogen is stored glucose and is readily accessible to burn for fuel if your daily nutrition is on point. After my workout I do a post-workout meal and then eat every 3 hours until I go to bed.
But...to each his/her own. What ever works best for you, you should stick to it despite what anyone else suggests.

Heres an idea, cook chicken breasts in bulk (ie 6-10 at a time if you can) and just have leftovers every morning

Me too. That's why I use a coffee grinder for the oats. Never needs cleaning. I just grind the oats, then funnel them into an old gatorade bottle, funnel in some whey, squirt in a little honey. Boom, it's done.

Why not load up on the whole wheat bread and/or oatmeal + banana + whey mixed with milk? Here's a complete breakfast ready in less than 10 minutes...

Get a Dextrose + BCAA's + a bit of whey, should amp you up pretty good.
you can also get a rehydration mix (something like Gastrolyte) to quickly rehydrate you as well.
