I'm always hungry!
So after a year of slacking I'm finally getting my act together and eating clean and working out again. My problem is, even if I eat 5-6 small meals a day, I'm still really hungry. Previously I'd always eat about 1-2 large meals until I was very full (usually only eating dinner because I was too busy), as well as constantly snacking throughout the day. Which, you guessed it, caused me to gain back everything I had lost before (which was only about 10 lbs, but going from 140 with some muscle to 150 with no muscle....you can tell a big difference). Hardly any of my clothes fit well anymore. :-(
I guess I just have to get my body used to eating small portions again, even though I was never really used to it to begin with. My fiance tells me that I'm addicted to food (which doesn't make me feel that great) and that I have no self control when it comes to eating. Needless to say, that doesn't motivate me very much.
I guess my question is, are there any small meals that I can eat that will give me a somewhat full stomach feeling, and does the want for more food ever go away? For example, yesterday for a mid-day meal I made a wrap with 5oz chicken breast, 4 egg whites, one slice of 2% cheese, and a whole wheat tortilla, and afterward I was still wanting more food....I didn't eat anymore though...just drank a large glass of water, but still felt quite hungry afterward. I'm trying to stick with it, but it's really hard without the proper motivation and support. *sigh*

how much are you eating in total per day?
you may have to eat some more im guessing....
is it that you're hungry or your appetite wants more food and isn't satisfied?
because there is a differance

According to fiday, I'm eating on average 1200-1300 calories a day. And I think it's both that I'm hungry and that my appetite isn't satisfied.

For your height you need more calories! That is really low. No wonder you are hungry lol. What is your intake like for each meal?

wow that's a little... you have room for way more calories ( I'm not good at predicting an amount but I'm sure at least 300 minimum)
you're taller and weigh more than me and my maintenence is 2400

Whoa that is really low. I eat at least 1500 and probably closer to 1800 right now (not tracking religiously).
I found that coming up with a calorie range for each meal (I like to do 5 a day) works pretty well. Make sure you incorporate protein and healthy fat into each one, the fat is really important. I know that personally I tend to get ravenous if I go heavy on carbs and leave out fats.
I'd go at least 1800 cals, chica.

I'm eating at 1800-1900 cal/day and cutting for a competition.
Like the post above says, try to add some health fats to every meal (about like 10g). Also try filling up on fibre from veggies

Based on your stats for fat loss, you need to up your calories to 1800 a day. Try a 40p/30c/30f macro split which will give you:
180 g protein
135 g clean carbs
60 g healthy fats
Use www.fitday.com or some other site to track your numbers. I PM'd you a food list to help.
Good luck, keep at it!!

Thanks everyone. I had a feeling I wasn't eating enough. I'm going to try to up my calories to 1800 and see if that helps curve my hunger (or is it "curb" my hunger?) Thanks to Kim for sending that list. I did have an idea of what were healthy fats, carbs, and proteins, but it's nice to have something to refresh my memory. I need to go to the grocery store and stock up!
