I grunt more since I workout at home. Sometimes one of cats will push open the door and tilt his head to the side, looking at me like WTF is this guy doing. When I would work out at the gym, I would keep quiet. I hated it when I would be next to some guy grunting like he comstipated and trying to ****.

I would think that chest and legs would be the only exercises necessary for a grunt IMO

I don't think it's annoying, rather funny... so I do it all the time. Only on compound lifts, though

For years I have remained neutral on this topic but I'm starting to lean toward the anti-grunting side. I was in the gym 2 days ago and saw a guy on the incline bench press machine who was grunting louder than I've ever heard before in my life. I mean I'm doing leg extensions and all of the the sudden RAAAAAAWWWWWRRRR! WTF! The he had a bunch of "mini-rawrs" with each rep. Huh? That makes no sense to me. To make it worse this guy was pretty diesel and when I saw the weight he was lifting is was 205! I'm not the strongest guy in the world, especially in the chest area, but I know I won't grunt for a few reps at 205.
Now I disagree when people hate on people for cussing in the gym because I do it. I'm pretty sure no one can hear me but if they can, oh well. I feel like I'm not working hard enough if I can't look in the mirror and say "f**k me," "this is some bull s**t," or my favorite "well, this s**t is gonna suck." Occasionally, I let out a grunt but it is usually the last rep or two and I'm definitely not trying to get anyone's attention. There are some guys who obviously want people to stare and that's annoying
