Also quoted for truth. Size, testosterone, and skill are three totally different things, but a skilled physically strong fighter will beat a skilled physically weak fighter every time, just like a skilled female fighter would get wrecked by a skilled male fighter. It doesn't mean she's not skilled or can't fight; it also doesn't mean it's not exciting to watch her fight another skilled female fighter.
The public will watch what they want to watch the the fighters will be paid accordingly. Honestly, I don't care who watches or if there's any kind of payout; I'm just glad for the opportunity to learn the skills and to compete.
Perhaps the fact that we know we have zero chance of ever "making it big" or earning any kind of payday, yet keep showing up to train, is a bit of a testament to our desire and will?

You're acting like just because I'm saying that women lack testosterone that I'm "ridiculous" and don't like bantamweights (which your evidence of that is that casual fans don't like them)?
I agree that casual fans (at least used to) find the bigger guys more exciting, but that's not exactly the case anymore, necessarily.
And plus, I'm saying that guys--no matter their size--are more physically prepared to master fighting than are women.
Why don't we just stick on the subject of women because I'm not saying **** about dudes.....ya know?
|
Because drawing parallels is an effective mode of argumentation?
Your assertion that women don't have (as much) testosterone and therefore aren't ... well, whatever you're saying they aren't (good fighters I guess?) is as nonsensical as saying that Brian Bowles can't fight because he's small. It has no logical basis and the only things you can use to support it are specious at best.
It's also not a separate tangent to talk about small fighters. Women's MMA right now is at the same place sub-155/170 was at only a few short years ago. The talent pool isn't very deep because no one gives a **** about it for no good reason. As soon as people started caring, great, world-class fighters like Miguel, Uriah, Beebe, Kid, etc started getting more fame, and as soon as that happened people like Mizugaki, Bowles, Benavidez, Warren etc started showing up to challenge them. The exact same thing would happen with women's MMA except that people are still stuck in an archaic mindset.
If thats too hard for you to follow, I'll break down what I'm saying for you:
The problem with women's MMA has nothing to do with women, and everything to do with the fact that no one cares about it. As an example of when this has happened before, we merely need to look at the 135 and 145 weight classes 3 or 4 years ago and compare them to how they are today, now that they've been given more of a spotlight with Zuffa's buyout of the WEC.

Yeah except the scenario of the guy fighting the girl would never look good for the guy. You're an abuser of women if you win, and a sissy if you lose. That's why if a girl picks a fight with me I just pick them up, put them on my shoulder, and spank them playfully.

Mega Megu or Amanda Bukner are both just as unattractive as they come. That's the main reason they are not known.
In MMA or any other sport, the attractive women are going to get far more attention then unattractive women. That's just the way it is. Not only in sports, but in society in general. Women have been judged by the way they look since the begging of time. That will never change.
Like it or not, Gina Carona and other hot looking women will continue to be popular in women's MMA while the ugly looking women Mega Megu and Amanda Buckner will continue to fight in obscurity.

I hate watching woman's MMA or any other woman's sports for that matter. No power, no chins, and just over all inferior to men when it comes to MMA and most other sports. Not saying that they shouldn't be able to fight, I just won't be watching and it will never become popular.

I personally love watching women's Kickboxing and MMA. I think they put on pretty good fights. In a lot of cases, they put on better fights than the guys. I think women fight harder because they have more to prove to the world than men do.
Just my .02 though.

Biggest problem with women's mma is that the spokesperson for women's mma is a fighter who can't be arsed to ever make weight for any of her fights. Yes, she's a solid mma fighter, but when Gina Carano consistently comes in 5lbs overweight, it screams unprofessional and screams laziness.

LOL whether Gina makes weight or not, she is still insanely popular and absolutely gorgeous. Not to mention she's really cool.

Love it!
The women are always exciting.
Also, two half naked women rolling around on the ground...

The ones I see don't show enough skin. Should be tight boy shorts and training bras only... preferably naked though.
Not a fan because there isn't huge talent pool.

Look, it's a tad impressive that you're using big words and all, but you're entirely missing the point I'm trying to make and instead are making your own.
I'm basically saying that everything that makes a man a man is what makes them better fighters than women....Yet you're trying to say that I might as well be arguing that against men who just happen to be smaller??
I'm telling you right now, that's not what I'm saying.
Maybe someone could try to say that ****, so why don't you save your off-putting lectures for them?
What you are doing is taking a reason given for a specific opinion and blanketing it over anything that even remotely resembles it, which is about as fallacious and presumptuous as you could get.
It'd be like if you told me not to swim after eating, so I took it to mean that I couldn't walk after eating because you forbade me from doing a physical activity after eating.....that must mean ALL physical activities, right???
Are you starting to see that you're kinda barking up the wrong tree here?
And what do you mean "the problem with women's MMA isn't women, and everything to do with the fact that no one cares about it"??
I'm saying it IS the women; you're saying it's publicity, now, apparently.
Miguel Torres was smashing fools who advantageously outweighed him before anyone even knew what the WEC was. In other words, the publicity didn't MAKE him get better. He was good with or without the publicity.
At the same time, I can't say there are a great number of women out there who fight with the same technique, athleticism, physicality and greatness, whether they are known or unknown, as did fighters such as Miguel Torres....and why can I so confidently say this?
Because I paid attention in biology.
Now stop putting arguments into my mouth.

Here's what I like and dislike all at once.
Like:
Push the pace
don't seem to care about getting hit or KO'd
are normally hotter
fight harder from start to finish most the time
Dislike:
Slower striking
Standup always looks sloppy
No real KO threats
Tend to look like hair grabbing and slap fights (boring btw)
On the ground size > technic almost always
Now I do like watching Women's sports Volleyball, College Basketball, Tennis, Gymnastics...but that's because those sports don't require strength much and the women come off looking more graceful competing there.

My interested in ANY female sport begins and ends with the hawtness of the competitors. Other than that, women's sports are completely useless.
WNBA = FAIL

womens sports in general im not a fan of, the lever of competition and intensity is just not the same.
they can do it if it makes them happy, just dont try to force me to watch.
unless the girls are pretty, in which case i'd watch tennis, swimming, mma, beach volleyball, etc. but not for the competition

I stumbled onto a site while uhm...doing research last night.
Called Ultimate Surrender(google it, NSFW). That's the only women's MMA that interests me.

They could easily incorporate some fights into events, they really don't have to seperate it like the NBA/WNBA.

I wouldn't mind seeing the UFC having a woman's division, the only problem is, at least according to Dana White, their aren't enough women fighters out there to create various weight classes and not enough women fighters to keep matching up fights for long periods of time.
