Hey ladies! I figured we could all post our intended comps for 09' here as well as our results from the shows. If you've already competed, let's hear how you did. This will be a great way to support one another as well as possibly meet each other if we just so happen to compete in the same show.
So......let's hear it!

My prep is going really well...I'm pretty lean already with still 5wks to go! I may have it pretty easy and not have to make any drastic changes, and cruise into peak week!!!

hello all
The exam dates will be May 18-21, 2009. Each exam will be scheduled for 2 hours. You should prepare a 20 min oral presentation with no more than 6 transparencies (NO PowerPoint/electronic materials). The oral exam will begin by exploring your proposal but is not exclusive to details in your written document. Committee members will ask questions regarding your proposal as you speak and following your presentation. You are expected to have a broad base of knowledge of all content and background related to the proposal.
I'm hoping to do my first ever competition in November here in Tampa. I've never done this before and just started seriously in April. I have a long way to go but I'm really hoping I'll be able to do well. Any advice for a newbie?

have fun. have fun. have fun. then learn from the experience. you will know what to do differently next time around - from posing suit choice, posing, to bringing up areas of opporutnity (some call them lagging body parts).

Believe in yourself, have patience (can't stress it enough), and make sure you're still having fun! Dieting doesn't have to be as torturous as some make it out to be
Keep us posted!

This is my 3rd year competing. I started in 2007 at age 45. This year I competed in the Northern Kentucky in March and placed 1st in my class!
The first year I did shows from March straight until November. By then, my mind and body were like mush. My body didn't respond to a thing. Since then I've been a little more selective and this year I am taking off some time to compete in July in Pittsburgh in the Master's Nationals. I'm at 118 (from 110) and seven weeks out. I'm happy with the weight gain, increased muscle, and maintaining about 12% body fat. Even if I don't drop any more fat I'm happy with how I've filled out, as I heard one competitor say, "the judges want to see your anatomy, not study it!"
At age 47 and after four children, twins, and trying to maintain a balance between competing and living, I'm pretty happy where I'm at right now.
Congrats on everything you've accomplished so far!!! To be 47 and have 4 kids AND compete is amazing. I am 26, single w/o kids and managing my life and competing is an incredible challenge, but the way you keep it balanced is so inspiring, I dont know how you do it...but keep it up!!!

yes congrats! you give us motivation as mothers. i only have one kiddo. and she likes to diet with me and will get on the bike at home and say she is preparing for her show. i am thinking about getting her a one piece to wear to my next comp. that would be hilarious as i would surely want her on stage with me.

Did first show May 16th in Bloomington, Minnesota. Didn't do as well as I would have liked, but, the audience was over 1200 people! Quite crazy for first show! I am now officially addicted! Doing next two shows October and November 2010. Going to take this time to put on some muscle and lean up a lot more!
Just want to let you know that anyone can do this. I am a mom, I work, went to school for 13 hours all when I was dieting down and dieted for 19 weeks! I was quite fluffy! It takes a lot though! But, well worth it!
Good luck to you all..I know what those shaking muscles feel when standing at the curtain ready to walk on stage!
Hint: Practice in your shoes! If this is your first show, don't under estimate how much you really need to practice in your shoes! When you are on stage, as I learned, your feet feel like they are cemeted to the stage floor! So, just make sure you are really comfortable with your turns and holding poses. Sometimes you have to hold them a long time.. It is way different when you are by yourself posing, compared to having 6-8, or however many judges staring at you...Its an awesome experience! Take advantage of it! It is over before it begins!
I still haven't received the pictures that I purchased from the show.. I wasn't as lean as I should have been, but I had sed 30 lbs by the day of the show..Going to send you a pm...check your mail when you can
Hey Ladies! Yesterday my show time FINALLY arrived! I placed 3rd in Open and 4th in Novice...it was such an amazing group of girls. I had such a great time...and enjoyed myself afterward too
Good Luck to everyone!!!
