Which do you prefer?

Do you give each muscle group it's own day and blast the hell out of it. Or do a split and hit it a little more frequently?

I like upper/lower workouts hitting things 2x/week.

I have a 4-day split, so I'm working each muscle group once a week (back, chest/shoulders, arms, legs/abs). I like it because it allows me to give each muscle group a variety of exercises, both compound and isolation, without having to spend too much time on any one workout. If I tried to do a full-body workout that contained all the exercises I like to do, it would take hours and wouldn't have the energy to get through it. The split means I don't have to leave any exercises out due to time and energy limitations.

I do a 3 day a week routine and I hit each muscle once in that week, each muscle (with a few exceptions) gets 3 sets of 3 different exercises (9 sets total). It looks something like

Day 1

Chest/ tri./ shoulders

Day 2

Upper Legs/ Back

Day 3

Abs/ Biceps/ calves

I think what we should look into is the pro and cons to full/split body workouts. If there are any.
