I just love cereal
I'm currently trying to lose a load of fat before a bulk (around 19% wanna be about 10%)
MY diet is pretty good and I've been losing weight steadily, I've lost 10lbs in 4/5 weeks so far .
BUT this week I've been eating more cereal, like last niht I had 2 bowls directly before bed. How detrimental will this be do you reckon? Per bowl this cereal has 7g protein, 29g carbs and 5g fat (with low fat milk).
I was thinking, could I eat a bowl of this and a protein shake as a meal like 2/3 times a day as oppose to JUST a protein shake which is what I've been doing?
Cheers

if it fits into a caloric deficit diet, you should be fine, not the cleanest of all choices, but you certainly don't need to eliminate everything to see results
buckle down and start eating some oatmeal 1/2 cup dry oats, water, pack of splenda, dash of cinnamon and imitation vanilla and it's a clean 150 calorie meal, tastes great w/ water, never tried with milk. That, a protein shake and a serving of fruit/veggies and you're eating a clean, balanced, meal.
but if you say you're still losing weight at a steady rate, i see no problem in what you're doing, just stay in a deficit and continue the hard work, don't beat yourself up over satisfying your cravings

You are throwing that word clean around, but what does it even mean? One food being cleaner than another. Sounds like a Jewish person not wanting to eat "unclean" things.
Edit: have a rabbi bless your cereal and I think you will be fine.

Yeah I'm confused too. Splenda? "Imitation" vanilla? Doesn't sound too "clean" to me.

I'm trying to satisfy any sweet tooth he may have, many people complain plain oatmeal is just too bland. I'm assuming his cereal is also enriched bleached flour and contains HFCS/Sugars

I think the general consensus is that clean means "no HFCS, sugar, or whatever the nasty fat that fast food places' burgers are loaded with."
Naturally, some foods are cleaner than others.

Nothing bad about it, it just ends up being the primary sweetener for a lot of junk foods. HFCS in and of itself is whatever, it's what USES HFCS that ends up being unhealthy.

Obviously. If you can fit it into your caloric "budget" then yeah, by all means go have a bowl of fruity pebbles or whatever.
People wanted a definition of "clean food," I offered one. It's overarching, broad, and generic, but it's there. Whether or not it's the absolute definition of "clean" is subjective, but it's the general consensus of what people determine as "clean food."

I was being sarcastic. I don't believe one food is cleaner than any other food. Just different nutrient make ups.

if your counting calories than you should know if it's gonna put you over or not, otherwise if your getting your protein for the day, eat your cereal if you just can't live without eating it 2/3 times a day...

Just look on the back on the box and figure out the calories. Add in the milk too.
If you can swing it then more power to you.

Some cereals are worse than others. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is so amazing but is the devil calorie-wise.
Regular Cheerios are actually a great bodybuilding food, I usually have them without milk, but if you want the traditional cereal, have it with skim.
Also, measure out your cereal and milk in cups to keep track of calories and make sure you don't go overboard, as they can add up FAST.

look at the amount of vitamins and minerals in most cereals compared to oatmeal and tell me with a straight face that oatmeal is a "better" carb source

I was talking about Lucky Charms. That's just good, period. A box that's about 25% marshmellows! That's pure ecstasy in a box!
