Mass FX - 8 weeks

ilirdino's 8 week MassFX Log

Supports Testosterone & Delivers Pumps For Increase Muscle Gain!

Background: I've been lifting consistently (and knowledgeably) for about one year now. I used to be terribly skinny fat. I thought I was the man for losing close to thirty pounds and ended up looking ridiculously frail. I cut the **** and proceeded to lift and eat as though it was my job. I went from a frail 155 pounds to a respectable 185 pounds. I went home for winter break, cut some beef, and proceeded to eat and lift some more. My lifts have remained about the same for the past two months (due mostly to time constraints because of school), and I think its about time that I include a little more than caffeine in my preworkout ritual!

Goals: As far as I understand, MassFX will work very well in aiding a recomp. I'm sitting at about 180 pounds right now, and I really would not mind if I didn't gain a pound in bodyweight but still managed to increase all of my lifts an impressive amount. The goal here is more intense sessions in the gym and consequent increases in strength and size. However, with the summer quickly approaching, I wouldn't mind a little leaning effect (which I am told will indeed happen). This leads me to my next point, diet!

Dosing: I'm going to be running this at 4 caps per day for 60 days with a 1-2-1 dosing scheme.

Diet: I originally planned a short cut to shed a few pounds before hitting the beach (i've actually been doing some AM or PWO cardio and watching macros these past few weeks). However, with my decision to run MassFX for 8 weeks, I think I'm just going to eat above maintenance, lift hard, and still do my cardio. I should lean out a little but maintain intensity in the gym and hopefully increase the big lifts (which is the goal!).

I am not a fan of counting macros and will consequently not do so for this log. Don't run away just yet! I am very conscious of what I eat, so the foods I consume do not even approach unhealthy or not ideal! I eat exclusively clean carb sources (timed appropriately and in moderation, as I am carb sensitive), good fats (from cashews, peanut butter, fish, fish oils, eggs), and copious amounts of (lean) protein. Diet should not be an issue, as I have a healthy appetite and thoroughly enjoy eating! I believe in a whole food approach so I stray away from protein shakes unless it is absolutely necessary.

Training: My training philosophy has worked for a while now and I see no reason to change it. I am on a split and begin all of my lifts with a big, multi-joint compound move. I warm up in a higher rep range and progress to what amounts to almost a max-effort lift at about 2 or 3 reps. I also enjoy burning out (till about failure) at the end of that set. Then I'll move to another lift that targets that muscle group differently (i.e. barbell bench press to incline dumbbell or barbell bench press) and work in a higher rep range. Then I'll progress to yet another move that better isolates the muscle group and work in a high rep range (10-12). I feel like this approach lets me gauge my strength and also allows me to get a great pump in by the time I'm done training.

Sample Back Day:
Deadlifts @ 135x12, 225x8, 315x3, 315x3, 135x12
Barbell Row @ 45x15, 135x8, 185x5, 185x5, 135xfailure
Dumbbell Row @ 85x5, 85x5, 70x8
Pull Ups @ 2 sets until failure, 1 set assisted

I'll do LI cardio about three times per week. I might do sprints on occasion.

Pictures: Poor lighting absolutely destroys what little definition I have! I'm definitely leaner than those pics portray me. You can't really see the back detail in that pic but the lines should show you where I stand. The front double bi was also a really average pose!
These are all in the evening, cold.

I'll update this log as soon as I get my shipment in and start the dosing. I hope to haul ass and make some improvements with MassFX!

Thanks!

I don't have the MassFX just yet, but I thought I'd include some details about some things I might do to maximize my results and also the other supplements I'm going to use over the course of the 8 weeks. I'll also include my lifting stats!

I'm going to incorporate a principle of FST-7 training into my training sessions. I figure one beastly burnout at the end would definitely help bring up lagging muscle groups!

I'm also having anywhere from 200 to 300mg of caffeine about an hour preworkout. This usually gets me going. I think if I couple this with Mass FX, I'll be good to go! I also take Animal Pak and my Fish Oils. I take 5g of creatine mono PWO. I also have a couple of mgs of melatonin before bed.

Lifting stats! My bench is sitting at 225x2 or 3, depending on how I feel. My deadlift is at 315x3, though I did get 325x2 the other day! My squat is at 315x5 (though I will soon be confined to a smith squat, so I'm going to have to figure out ways to ramp up intensity). My military press is at 185x1 (seated, not a push press). I that I can get my bench and dead up a whole lot (I'd be really satisified with 225 for 8 reps by the end of the 8 weeks for bench! ).

Stay tuned! I should have the MassFX tomorrow!

BB.com always has reasonable prices on most supplements. I don't know if there are any bundles out there that make things cheaper. Even if there were, you probably wouldn't save much as compared to BB.com's prices.

Thanks! My package should come in tomorrow. Hopefully it's here in the morning so I can dose that day and start the 8 weeks with a leg day! I'll detail my training and how I feel as I go along. My diet, as I said, is going to be moderate carbs and fats and high protein with calories at above maintenance though not terribly high. Not looking for amazing gains in weight, so I don't think I'm going to need a big surplus.

Sounds like a very strong effect, i would though keep calories somewhat high because even well above maintenance MFX/HD will still have a very strong recomping effect, so make sure and keep calories a little higher and you should still definitly lean out while gaining a few solid lbs for sure!

Day One:
I dosed my MassFX today, 2-2. I knew I wouldn't have time to dose according to my other scheme because I was grocery shopping all day (Costco, specialty ethnic shops, etc.) and was all over the place.

Diet: Wish I could have had more earlier food earlier today! Once MassFX starts peaking I'm definitely going to throw in some high cal PWO meals!
8:30AM
6 eggs (3 whole, 3 white), 1/2 WW bagel
11:00AM
2x Polly-O String Cheese
12:30PM
1 cup oats (1 scoop whey mixed in), 2 large chicken breasts
4:00PM (PWO)
2 slices WW bread, 2 Tbsp PB, 1/2 WW Bagel, 2 large chicken breasts
7:00PM
1 serving cashews, mixed vegetables, 2 chicken breasts
10:00PM
1 serving cashews, casein shake in 12oz low fat milk

Training:
BB Bench Press
135x12, 205x4, 225x2 (probably could have gotten three), 225x2, 175x8, failed on a 235 single :P
note: I definitely think my bench technique is a little off. I'm definitely going to try and sort out my technique; between hard work, MassFX, and then some technique revision, I should push more weight.

Smith Incline Press (I wish I could do free bench, but I don't have one in the gym. I'll explain if you want! :P)
175x5, 195x2, 175x4, 125x8

superset Cable Cross Over/Dips
45x12/BWx8, 45x12/BWx8, 35x15/BWx6, 35x15/BWx6
I also did a drop set here (after the last set) with the Cable Cross Overs and Dips. I really tried to focus and control the reps, getting a good stretch back and a really strong contraction when I closed.

Crunch Machine (I get a really good burn here! )
25lbsx20, hold for 20 secs
25lbsx15, hold for 15 secs
25lbsx10, hold for 10 secs

15 min LI Cardio, kicked a soccer ball around in the park

Overall, a good day in the gym. I can't say it was the MassFX, but I'm definitely excited for the upcoming weeks. Tomorrow is a back day and I can't wait to pull some weight!

Day Two:

I dosed 2/2. I did about 8 hours of manual labor today (filled a 30 square yard container up to the friggin' for my dad; we're doing reno on a house we just bought and he figured I could do some day laboring) and then got home around 9PM. My back was really sore and I figured deads would not be the greatest idea, so I just blasted arms. I felt really good today and did some legit work (both in the gym and out).

Training: All bicep exercises are supersetted with a tricep move. All bicep reps are total reps for both arms unless otherwise indicated

Standing Alternate DB Curls
25x20, 30x16, 35x16, 40x12 (drop set! 35x8, 30x10, 25x12)

Isolation Curl (reps are per arm)
30x6 (drop set! 25x6, 20x8), 30x6, 30x6 (drop set! 25x6, 20x8)

Hammer Curl
35x16, 40x12, 40x8, 40x8 (drop set! 35x4, 30x6, 25xfailure, I cheated hardcore with the 25s and tried to control the negative. My arms felt like they were going to fall off!)

Bar Tricep pushdown (I just use the whole stack, assuming each increment is 10lbs)
150x10, 150x10, 150x10

Close Grip Bench Press
155x12, 135x15, 135x15
superset! Reverse cable pulldowns: 30xfailure, 20xfailure

Close Grip Smith Bench Press
155x15, 155x15
drop set! 105x12

Good day in the gym. I packed lots of good food and managed to eat clean despite the temptations of construction site eating! :P I did have two iced coffees (a little low fat milk and 2 splendas a piece) though, but I <3 caffeine so we're good.

I don't know if its the MassFX or a placebo affect thus far, but I just generally felt good today.

Looking great man! Nice detail, keep up the good work! Some people notice effects as quick as day 3, so it could be a possibility.

Day Four!

Dosed 2/2. I didn't get much sleep last night and had to be up at 6am for work. Its memorial day, which means the store was really busy. Corporate also came through, so my manager had us upkeep the place extremely well. I was busy all day and felt a little tired going into the gym. But once I got a good shoulder pump going, I didn't want to leave!

I was sweating a ****load and slammed some weights when I finished up lat raises. I don't usually do either on a shoulder day! :P

DB Shoulder Press
50x12, 70x6, 70x5, 70x5, 55x10

Lateral Raise
20x12, 25x10, 30x8 (form was shaky on the last few), 30x6 (drop set! 25x4, 20x5)
supersetRear Lat Raises
20x15, 20x12, 15x15
drop set 10x10, BWxfailure
Rope Rear Delt Pull
60x15, 80x12, 80x12, 60x12

Seated Lateral Raise
25x4, 20x6, 20x6

Leg Press Calf Raises (hold the last rep of each set for 15seconds)
330x15, 350x15, 370x12, 370x12, 350x15

DB Snatch (this was for fun :P)
70x2

Diet would have been 100% clean if I didn't really want a Burrito Bol from Chipotle. I didn't get any sauce, cheese, or extra goodies. It was some rice, chicken, peppers and onions, mild salsa, lettuce, and topped with some hot sauce (380 kcal - 10g F, 35g CHO, and 37g Pro). It was delicious!

I need to stop being lazy and start hitting rear delts harder. I also want to get 70s up for shoulder presses for 10 good reps. I need to bring my delts up in general.

Overall a good (but tiring day). Tomorrow is legs and day five on MassFX. It's going to be intense. I have the day off which means diet will be on point! Chicken breast galore!

Day Five!

I hit legs today. I woke up at about 10am. Here is what diet looked like so far (and what it will look like before bed).

10am
2 whole eggs, 4 whites
1 WW Bagel

1:30pm
1 light n fit yogurt
3 large chicken breasts
1/4 cup (dry) brown rice (approximation, whatever was left over from yesterday).
12 oz milk, 2 scoops whey

4:30 (as I type)
1/4 cup (dry) brown rice (not an approximation :P)
2 large chicken breasts

~8:00PM
2 chicken breasts w/ mixed veggies
Lots of cashews!

~11:00PM (prebed)
1 serving pro complex (1g F, 5g CHO, 60g Pro)

I have to say that I was kind of tired today. I might have just been in a lazy mood. Here's training details.

I was doing leg press calf raises in between almost every set. Gotta bring those calves up! :P I'll give them a few days off now though.

Smith Squat
105x20, 205x6, 265x4, 245x2 (deeeeep, knees didn't feel great but I really loved pushing through), 245x1 (again, scary deep), 205x8

Cybex Leg Press (it isn't a traditional plate load load press. I don't like it, but if I position my feet in different ways I get to emphasize hammies more or quads more if I want, so I guess that's cool and useful)
310x10 (high feet, short ROM), 370x8 (high feet), 370x8 (high), 330x5 (low, "deeper" ROM), 330x5

Leg Curl/Leg Extension/Jumping Lunges Tri Set
Leg Curl
150x8, 170x6, 170x6
Leg Extension
110x10, 130x8, 130x8
Jumping Lunges
BWx24, BWx16, BWx16 (divide that number by two to get reps per leg)

Medicine Ball Serratus Crunch
9lbx15x5

Heavy Bag Work for 10ish minutes

I can't complain. The leg workout was decent and I felt good once I started going. My rest times were pretty short so it was a relatively intense work out. I'm waiting for something more distinct to kick in before I pass any judgement on MassFX. I have a general sense of well being but I can't say I feel something as a direct result of the product. We'll have to see. Tomorrow is work and then a chest day. Let's see if I can set a new PR tomorrow!

Day Six!

Dosed 2/2 and felt amazing today. I was tired at work but came home, took the second dosing, had some caffeine, and in about an hour and a half I was really focused and ready to go. I got in the gym and felt great. Though I didn't set any new PRs, my energy in the gym was good. I just about got 225 for 3 on the bench but I really couldn't squeeze through that last bit to lock it all out. I've reached the conclusion that my triceps need to come up big time before I'm ever going to put up respectable numbers. Either way, good day in the gym!

Flat BB Bench
135x15, 175x8, 225x2 (allllmost three. this was so frustrating because the first two were easy!), 225x2, failed on 235x1 (again :P), 155x8

Incline Smith Press
195x6, 195x5, 195x5, 165x8

Incline DB Press (the heaviest DBs I have are 70s, although that's about all I needed after those presses)
70x8, 70x8, 70x6
superset! Dips
BWx8, BWx8, BWx8

I also did some accessory tricep work in between some sets to keep the pump going and further fatigue the tris. Arms in general are holding me back, so this needs to change. Let's hope MassFX gives me a hand!

Ab Crunch Machine
35x10x6 (hold last rep of each set for 15 seconds)

15 min stationary bike

Diet was on point. I was feeling a little groggy at around 3pm, so I added a Nature Valley Bar (the healthiest thing at the vending machine) to my snack (Nitro Core, 1 stick string cheese). I think it really helped me out during the lift.

Day off from work tomorrow which means diet will be on point and I'll be able to sleep late and train hard. Let's see if I get something noticeable from MassFX in the upcoming days; I'd love a little unexpected something in addition to great gym intensity.

Strong bench is strong.

And that's crazy supersetting incline db's with dips. There's no way in hell I'd be able to do that.

I'm just deciding if i should buy this or not so hopefully this log will give me a good idea of what i should do............
I've heard this works alot better with HYPERDROL rather then on its own as the 2
complement each other for better STRENGTH & SIZE gains!

Keep us posted......

I was really thinking about the MassFX/Hyperdrol stack but I decided that 8 weeks of MassFX would definitely be better than only 4 weeks of the stack.

Day seven!

Today was back but minus deads. I figured maxing deads every week would not be a good idea just because up until two months ago, I couldn't dead at all (back problems). So, I'll alternate each week.

Short rest times. I started sweating a ****load and felt great. I think if I rested more I would have been able to put up bigger numbers. Still feeling great in the gym though.

BB Row
135x15, 185x8, 205x4 (strong form haha, I have to say I cheated quite a bit but I still got a good pump), 185x6, 155x5, 135x8

Machine Row
170x8, 175x6, 175x6, 150x8, 150x8

Pull ups (drop set for every single set, it was nuts). All are dead hang and wide-ish grip.
BWx6, BW-20x4, BW-40x5 (ran that set four times)

Smith Shrug
205x8, 205x8, 205x6, 205x5

I might have done more sets but I was happy with how intense those sets were and I didn't want to train just for the sake of training.

Diet was on point. I've got nothing but eating left to do! I have some salmon for later, too!

EDIT: That's actually a 185 row. I don't know why I put 175. It's 45+45+25+25+45.

Can you take MassFX on an empty stomach like right when you wake up or do you do it with breakfast? It doesnt say on the label and wasnt sure how you were dosing..

I take the first two with breakfast. The second two are Preworkout and without a meal (but my stomach definitely isn't empty).

You can take it either on an empty stomach or with food. They say it doesn't matter, but some people have stomach discomfort the first few days if they take it without food because of the forskolin. I've had bad stomach problems for years and it's only affect my stomach two or three times in the past 1.5 weeks that I've been using Mass FX.
