Here are some pictures! Tattoo is still bleeding a little. Will post better ones in two weeks when it's all properly healed.
Close to six hours of work. It is the celtric tree of life that wraps into the celtic surfers cross. The right side of the tree represents the evil in the world with the grim reaper and the left side represents the arch angel Michael showing the good in the world. The knots in the tree have been shaped to look like some skeleton/ghost faces and the celtric tree was done in knotwork. Yeahhhhh!

Not finished yet, getting the colour done this weekend. What do you guys think? Still going to add to it up underneath the armpit and up along the shoulder and down to my shirt line on my arm...once I come up with some more ideas.

Once i've reached my goal of 180lbs my reward is going to be a tattoo. What do you all think of this one? I was thinking getting this either just like this or around my lower leg / ankle

I think Tribal is overdone to be honest. It's also something that is very hard to incorporate things into. I'm a big fan of the newer type of knotwork coming out (as you can see from above). If you find the right tattoo artist you can come up with some amazing original work.

I wish I had more but tattoos in Cali are expensive!!! Right now I have 4.. I'd say the tattoo on my ribs hurt the most but i might get another because as they say "tattoos are addicting"

The only way I'm getting a tattoo is if I make it in the NFL, and it will be of a celtic lion on both of my arms and shoulders, and the Macedonian sun on my back.
So, now you know my opinion on getting a tat.
Otherwise, nice ink people!!!!

That's pretty cool. I wouldn't say it was tribal. The colour, I think, is what I like best about it.

Hey,
Yeah it is a 100% custom tattoo that my tattoo artist and I drew up. They are Noh masks (think shakespear but only Japanese) Hanya, Oni and Monkey with cherry blossums, waves and clouds.
Next step is coloring and touch ups. So far have about 25 hours on it.

Well just went and got myself a new one...not as an "in depth" tattoo if thats the right way to put it as most, but none the less meaningful to me as i wanted to get it before i ship out to basic training

Dude that is AWESOME. I love that...
So I figured out how I'm going to finish my tattoo. Atm it just says "For Myself For My Friends" across my chest. It's supposed to finish with "For my Family" and (not sure if I want to include this one or not..) "Forever". So I'm going to put a design in the middle with the "For My Family" in big calligraphy on the bottom. I want the design to really blow people away.. but I'm not sure what it should be. This is The Chest Piece.. so it's important.

I really enjoyed this thread. Love seeing all the great artwork.
I finally decided this year to get my first tattoo. Had the design in mind for 20 years. I have always been fascinated with the western American Indian culture. My Tattoo artist, sideshow Jen, took an idea I had and adapted it to compliment the contours of my arm.
I will be getting a spear piercing through my left bicep next winter. Cant get them in the summer cause i dont want to miss out on any surfing!

My 3/4 biomech sleeve pics are in my profile. I'm around 30 hours so far, with one or two sessions left to go. The design is completely custom, an idea I came up with any my tattoo artist, Dan Dittmer, ran wild with. Definitely check it out!
