On the run breakfast (no oatmeal)
What would be a good protein boost for breakfast. I usually only have 15 min. and I can't stand oatmeal and on the run I don't have time for eggs usually. Today I have 5.5oz chicken breast and 2oz baked potato with 24g protein powder. So what would you recommend?

if you are in that much of a hurry, simply have a protein drink.....use fat free milk to give it a little more substance....

Get up 15 minutes earlier and cook some eggs. Pre-make some some protein pancakes on the weekend and reheat.

I'll often drink a protein shake and a couple slices of Oroweat High Protein bread. Other days I might just have a glass of milk and a protein bar (at least 30gr protein bar).
I don't like making breakfast personally, about all I like to cook with is the grill.
Somedays I'll grab a cold piece of steak, fish or chicken and maybe a slice of the Oroweat High Protein bread.
Breakfast is one of my weak points.

Getting up earlier would kill me. Now I get up @ 4:00a and do my cardio, take a shower, then get dressed. By this time it is around 5:00a and I must leave by 5:15a.
Has anyone ever checked into or heard about a good way to microwave eggs for a quick turn around?
And to comment to mikieson, I can eat grilled chicken 24/7 it is one of my favorite foods.

You can nuke them but cover them and make sure you put some kind of nonstick spray in the container.
I like this shake when I'm in a hurry 16oz of filtered water, 1 tbsp of natural pb, 2 tbls milled flax, 2 scoops of champion nutrition chocolate whey( or your own brand)
few ice cubes, 1/4 cup frozen blue berries, blend ...you can even throw in a little granola for something to chew. There is actually nothing wrong with throwing in eggs either.

BTW, for those that despise OATMEAL ( myself included, as it reminds me of "MUSH" that the Little Rascals used to complain about ), there is an alternative cereal: OAT BRAN.....it is similar in texture to Farina, only much better.....really quick in the micro, and in my opinion , has it all over the mushiness of regular oat meal.....
I am talking the HOT cereal, not the cold:

I would just go with the protein shake or the chicken like you are doing.

I make my breakfasts and lunches on Sunday and just pre-pack everything for the week. Talk about a time saver. I cook 5 whole eggs and 10 egg whites and split it into 5 small glass bowls (1/2 cup per bowl); then I cook 1 cup raw oats with 2 cups water - I add a ton of cinnamon and allspice and a handful of raisins. I then dish out 1/3 cup oatmeal for each day, too. For lunch, I usually make grilled chicken breasts and some extra lean burgers, some baked sweet potatoes and brown rice. I wash and chop all the veggies I need to make my salads. Done. Makes life a whole lot easier.

Then just keep eating that. Seriously, eat foods you like and enjoy. You don't have to eat just 'work out' foods because you're working out.

On the weekend, microwave 1/4 C egg whites in a little pyrex bowl sprayed with cooking spray and seasoned to taste. I use salt substitute and freshly ground pepper. Cook them for ~60 seconds (they will rise up like a small volcano), and turn them over and cook for about 30 seconds.
I put these on toasted whole wheat English muffins with Canadian bacon, and Swiss cheese. I like mustard on mine and they freeze well. Make up a batch and pop them into the freezer.

I make up a dozen hard boiled eggs at a time. Then I can grab 2 or 3 before I run out the door with a glass of skim milk.

Just premake some sludge the night before and keep in the fridge
2 scoops protein (I like Chocolate best)
2 Tbsp Nat PB or Almond Butter
100g Blueberries
I eat this every morning. If you need carbs throw in a few slices of bread.

Back in my early 20's when I was last running competatively I used to eat those Celeste frozen pizzas for breakfast. Talk about a sweet early carb load.

Take a protein shake with 2 scoops cup of water and you're on your way.
Pre-nuke some Jennie-O Turkey bacon night before. You can walk out the door with about 4-6 strips.
I prefer half dozen egg whites scrambled, about 5 inches of sliced up smoked turkey sausage and salsa for flavor. Takes me about 20 minutes to cook it and eat it.
I pre-cook up a bunch of chicken breasts - I nuke one and spread a little salsa over the top and eat it just like that.
Eating the McD sandwiches.. too much saturated fat and cholesterol abide in their sandwiches not counting white flour.
Sometimes take about a cup of cottage cheese and drop in some pineapple chunks. Costco where I am sells a plastic box full of all natural pineapple strips and I cut the bigger slices into chunks. I do this alot at night before bed as well. Alternating pineapple with apple chunks or other fruit.

I hard boil my eggs at night, prebag a serving of shredded wheat (no milk ) and strawberries or a banana. Sunday night is cooking night in my house, I'll occasionally have a shake instead and I make that the night before.

I usually scramble up two eggs, milk in a bowl and nuke 'em for 3 minutes.
As far as chicken in the morning, that I couldn't handle. Any time else but that.
Pity there's no way of liquifying a meal on the go as I had an ex who would puree anything in site. No wonder he's my ex

this thread remind me abit from a scene in "The Office"...
Michael: I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don't have a butler, I have to do it myself. So, most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman Grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill, I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon. It is delicious, it's good for me. It's the perfect way to start the day. Today I got up, I stepped onto the grill and it clamped down on my foot... that's it. I don't see what's so hard to believe about that.
Okay, sorry about the copy/paste. I just love that show is all.
seriously though it is just basic common sense... make a shake... or have a bowl of cereal with fat free milk... or, the night before stop off at a chicken pita place like "extreme pita" (i go to my favorite greek resturaunt). Order two pitas, one for dinner that night and the other for the morning brkfast... or any combination of the above
*edit: another easy idea... buy a precooked bag of grilled chicken strips or cubes (or whatever your favorite lean sandwhich meat may be). Its precooked so just eat it out of the bag. Season it however you like or leave it plain. I do this alot actually. really good and quick meal

+1,000!!
Protein pancakes are great! I eat mine like a big cookie in the car sometimes on the way to the gym (work). Whey shakes are also indispensable. I don't know how anyone could survive without a big tub of whey in the house.

I'm sure I hate oatmeal as much as you! However, I have the following shake every morning.
1.5 cups FF milk
2 scoops whey
1 banana
1/2 cup oatmeal
It tastes so awesome I have another about 3 hours later. 661 calories and about 70 g of protein.

Boil eggs the night before. My wonderful wife always makes me a couple of days worth of boiled eggs that I keep at work. They're great with some sracha sauce ;-)
