Ladies,, do you workout with your hair down?
just wondering,,,
because I've notice a few women at my gym had their hair down, trying to workout...
I'm talking about shoulder length and longer,on treadmills, eliptical(sp) doing floor workouts..
I can't stand for a single strand to get loose out of my ponytail, i feel even hotter and sticky...
maybe its just my hang-up

I actually wore my hair (it's a little past my shoulders) down for about 10 minutes during my lifts today and hated it! After I put my hair up I felt soooo much better. I won't make that mistake again.

Nope. Can't stand to have it down. Mine's either up in a ponytail, dog ears or a messy bun.

It depends. For most cardio, I'd put it up...unless I'm doing some short easy warm-up, like 5 minutes of stairmaster or something (especially if the gym's cold).
For lifting, it depends on the exercise and the temperature of the gym. If I'm doing something that involves lying on a bench, I don't like having my ponytail against the bench, so I put my hair down for that. Otherwise, if it's cold, and I'm not doing anything all that intense (say, bicep curls or something like that), then I might put my hair down too.

I braid mine so it's out of the way and when I'm laying on benches etc it's not all lumpy and poking me in the head.
Could never wear it down.

I wear it on a pony tail all the time even though I hate it how it feels when I lay down on the bench. One time I wore it down when I was doing legs only. It was fine since I don't sweat when I do weights but my hair is so long and I don't like to have it on my neck when I workout.

I prefer the pony tail, but I put it on top of my head 80s style when I am doing weights.
But, if i forget a binder for the day, I wont give up my work out just because I have to have my hair down. I don't like it, but I deal.

I almost always have my hair up in a ponytail, unless I'm laying on the bench, where it causes my neck to act up (old injury), Once I'm finished it goes right back up. i would never do cardio without my hair up and there are always spare hair bands in my bag. I tried a regular elastic once when I didn't carry spares - that was not a good idea

I've wondered the same thing. How can they stand it being down. I wear my hair up in ponytail everytime I workout, and of course, it gets washed when I get home.

Oh goodness. I can't. I always have my hair in a high or low ponytail.
I've only seen one other person at my gym with it.
I just can't have my hair sticking to my face and body while I'm working out.
I'll get too aggravated.

Mine is usually up in a messy bun or a lower ponytail if I'm going to be lying on a bench. My hair is waaaaay too thick and long to be working out with it down. I'll overheat too easily and then it gets into my sweat.

Nope, it's in a ponytail plus a bandanna to kep the strays out of my face. I can't handle hair in my face while I'm sweating!

^^ That's so smart! I never thought of braiding... lol... that would fix the ponytail poking me in the head when I'm benching! haha.

No I usually have a hat on or it's in a ponytail. If Im laying on a flat bench and my ponytail gets in the way them I will take it down for the time being but when Im done it goes right back up.

My hair is not that long, just barely shoulder length. I usually wear it down unless its really hot in the gym. If I wear it in a ponytail for too long I get a headache.

funny
this is sort of funny because i didn't realize what a nuisance it was until i forgot my hair elastic....i turned the office upside down at work looking for a spare before my lunch time workout. I even changed my plan and lifted that day instead of doing cardio. I was soo pissed my hair was down. LOL
i braid it, and then roll the braid into a tight bun for pretty much everything. but when i bench i drop it down to just the braid for those few minutes....then it goes back up to the bun to finish out.
my office manager bought me some new headphones, tons of spare hair bands and aveeno face cleansing pads for our "secret santa"

If I'm lifting and know I will be laying on the bench, I'll wear a small plastic head band. Otherwise, it's up and in a butterfly clip!

I have mine up. It's fairly long and nothing like it getting tangled on something or in my way. When I run outside though I'll usually leave it down. I love the feeling of running with it down - at least until spring/summer weather hits..then ballcap it is!
