That vid of him was after winning 8 titles, defintely not his prime.
I'm sure he could do 600 no problem.

No. That last vid was NOT legit. There are obviously fake plates on that bar. I'll give Ben credit for 405 for reps at best on that one. The bar movement is just NOT consistant for that amount of poundage...

Trust me as you cannot mess with physiology and body mechanics. Power lifters are strong because of their weight, not there physique's. Ronnie is strong because of his weight (thickness). I train heavy often but this has taken years to work up to. For an example, in a power-rack set up a bar to the weight of just 585 (12 plates + bar) ok...lift it! How's THAT feel? Couldn't pull it? THIS is where I train at. I am working on 14 plates for reps of 5 for 5 sets. It's heavy as **** and it hurts like a trainwreck. J.

I remember seeing a video of ronnie on stage being asked questions from the audience, and he was asked what was the most he ever bench pressed and he said 650, and nobody understood, and ronnie was standing there tryna figure out the weight in kg's.

honestly when it comes to ronnie coleman i would believe any claim that came out of his mouth, he has no reason to lie, he is a ****en beast and his real numbers are outrageous enough. Looking at his 495x5 video he was benching it all on his chest (small ROM etc.) with proper arch and technique for poundage i dont see why he couldn't press that much. Find the video though.

It really would not hurt if just once in a while people could disagree and discuss a subject like actual adults. Amazing how that results in less infractions, negs, and bannings.
Just a thought.

Why do the mods delete anything an IFBB pro says, that shows their true colors? This has happened multiple times in the past. You should let them dig their own graves.

Speaking only for myself, mammoth flames that I either infract or neg for always get deleted, that way the next mod who comes along can see that it was handled.
Plus, I delete crap regardless of who said it.
While I may have a personal opinion on the situation here, because I had to step in as a mod, my personal opinion will not be given, so please do not ask for it (anticipating future questions here).

I really do not get into this much here, but since I got dragged into this thread:
Claims = jack ****.
Especially when even I have seen claims of his squatting, and his comments about getting a full ROM, and then watching him not even get close enough to parallel for it to see his ass waving in the distance.
Really, unless you train for heavy singles, your relative strength is always going to be higher than your absolute strength. Without improvements in motor unit recruitment, inter- and intra-muscular coordination, etc. that high intensity training (intensity as measured by % 1RM) you do not have the same skill based as a specialist.

I have seen a video of Branch Warren easily shoulder pressing 405 lbs for reps. I don't find it hard to believe that he bench presses 495 lbs for 15 reps.

That doesn't matter, Even if Ronnie did a slight warmup before hand the most he could probably get 495 for was 6-7 reps. I'm actually stronger after 2-3 sets than i ever could be cold and so are most people. Ronnie probably has a 550 Bench!

Ronnie is a man just like you, Here's how you tell if he can bench 600 or not. Go to the gym and do your 5 rep max set. Now take a break and add 20lbs to the bar and see how many reps you can get. Now come back here and honestly say that he can bench a 105lbs more than his 5 rep max!

IMO its harder to do ronnies half reps... Involves mainly chest. Thats why he has probably the densest, thickess, chest. Probably ever

Maybe when Coleman said he has bench pressed 600 lbs or 650 lbs, he meant with a bench shirt on. It could be possible, because when he did the 800 lbs squat, he was wearing a squat suit.

i've seen sites claiming some weird stuff for pro benches.
first of all apparently somewhere in arnold's biography it says he was working with over 500 pounds on bench? (not sure if true or for how many reps)
second, a lot of sites say that Johnie O' Jackson can put up 600, i think that's bull**** there's like 20 videos of him failing attempts at less weight.
third, a lot of sites are telling me markus ruhl benches 600. i don't know how possible that could be, but looking at his chest it might be possible.

I have an issue of Musclemag International where Schwarzenegger says that the most he ever bench pressed was 440 lbs.
On Jackson's website, he claims a 545 lbs bench press. Muscletech ads say 565 lbs. And I've seen pictures in magazines of Jackson bench pressing 585 lbs.
Ruehl has smith machine shoulder pressed 600+ lbs for reps. So, that bench press claim might be true.

I know with strength "size doesnt always matter."...BUT...If a big guy like Ruhl OR Colman cant bench 600lbs...That lil nothing of a guy isnt going to. Especially 2 or 3 reps. And he surely wouldnt have that toothpick of a kid spotting him with that amount of weight.
I would have to see him in person do it..AND , I would have to lift every plate to see its real.
Dont wanna call someone a lyer but I would need real proof before blieving.
