problem w a personal trainer

i bought a program from brett123 on this site, thinking it was what it was advertized on.. a CUSTOM workout plan and meal plan.. but in fact it is the exact same one he gives everyone else. he now refuses to give all my money back, he gave some back but kept $160! which i think is a little steep for a plan he spent no personal time on. there are also a cpl other reasons why i decided not to stay with him.
and, he also lies on his profile saying supermaine and these ppl 'hired him' but in fact he approached them and doing it for free.. smart i guess getting ppl to think that for business//
but anyways. what should i do , i am getting frustrated and he now ignores my pm's etc.

You should do your best to discuss the issue with him and not slander him until you are at wits end. If he does not respond anymore, it's time to test the water with others who have used his services. I think it it is unfair for him to not give you your money back since you are unsatisfied and for all the right reasons. If it is not an individualized program and he stated it would be, that is false advertising and unprofessional on his part.

If you have rationalized your case with him as best possible and nothing else is being accomplished, hopefully others will have personal experience input to give. Could be he had a bad day, nevertheless, it is unprofessional to not offer a money back guarantee of some sort upfront. If you get nothing form others and are still pissed, begin to right negativity about him, he may come around or see it your way. I am no advocate for slander and you cannot satisfy 100% of your clients, but doing your best or his best to rectify the situation is in his best interest. Good Luck!!!

belive me i have tried to email and such an he refuses to answer me back.
i asked ppl before i hired him about his services, but like i said he is biz oriented and told ppl that for any referral they send to him they get $ .. soo..... ya

See what if any legal aspects you can take, if you desire to get your $ back. I really hate it when this sort of things happens because there again it is another slap i the face to those of us who are professional and have a desire to help others. In this case, he is all about the money form what I see.

yea . his program or p/t may be good or beneficial for beginners and such, and his advice and knowledge but that doesnt matter when he advertises for a custom plan and that is what i wanted and paid for. if i didnt get that, i shouldnt have to pay for it simple as that. otherwise dont advertise thats what u give.
im in a dif country so i doubt from a legal stand point i can do much, and its not really worth the hassle for 160.
but i suppose i can warn others, and i intend to if this doesnt get settled.

I understand! I again feel it is unprofessional to offer a service for one price and the end product recieved, be totally different or not what was desired. As a trainer, he should stand behind his work! I would go with the warnings to others for sure. Good Luck and again sorry for your dilemma!!!

I remember someone running this scam years ago on here. Sorry but I don't think there is anything you can do. I would file a paypal dispute anyway but I believe your out of luck on this one.

Edited: Just read your post mcxk. Yeah I remember him. Everyone was going on and on about how great his personalized workout routine and meal plans were. Took a couple of months before they figured it out too and he had taken alot of money.

Nothing you can do really. I would never trust some regular jon dough online trainer, or one who he/she says they are a trainer

It's a loss. Take it as a lesson learned. Paypal will do nothing

Yeah i highly recommend not paying someone online for training.

Go to a local gym instead and find a trainer with a good reputation. Something more hands-on and face-to-face.

The internet's just full of scammers.

I agree with most. However, I do online training and it is tailored to each person. I have a series of questions I ask before creating a routine. As for meal plans, I only give basics or tell them what I have used in the past for similar clients and that is told up front. Since I'm not "on sight" with them I do 'play it safe' designing routines/exercises.

You have to be choosy when picking an online trainer. Ask other trainers, not 'clients' about the online trainer.

PERSONAL training is a service.

PROGRAM DESIGN is a tangible object, which you yourself own, and apparently so does other people! I would again ask paypal to review this issue, explaining that you ordered a DOCUMENT, and a specific one, and he didn't deliver.

If I went online to ebay and asked someone for a "custom" anything, and they gave me a "generic" something, I could appeal and get my money back. YOU CAN TOO!

you can get a lawyer or eat the loss and move on....
it is a **** thing to do and hope he get want is coming to him
