hey guys, and the few girls..

well i may not be from hawaii, but am seriously considering moving out there after i graduate. my brother lives there and is a bartender with a newborn (not the best combo). i think i'm going there in september to visit, so at least i can check stuff out for potentials.

hawaii is the best place to live bar none. I like it and if your not completely retarded and have good work ethic finding a job wont be to hard. The waves are good, beaches are nice, decent nightlife, its never cold, plenty of stuff to do.

Depending on where you want to live and what kind of job it wont cost much.

Hey there! Where is your brother living and where's he bartending at? For the most part, it is super expensive to live here, but it wouldn't be a gigantic jump coming from Cali. I moved from FL and was paying less than $600 for a nice one bedroom apartment. Now I pay $900 for something that's smaller and basically no amenities. But if you are able to move in with your brother, that would definitely be the way to go for cheaper!

TONS of stuff to do here, so you will rarely ever be bored!

nah he lives in honolulu with his fiance, i woulnt' want to impose on him for more than a couple of weeks if that. I'm not exactly sure where he works, i just know they get a lot of vip guests so it doesn't make bad money, i always forget to ask.

if i move eventually i will be able to afford something better than i do now since i'll be working. i think i'm splitting an $875/month apartment with my roommate, so its okay. she is just another story, and she's from hawaii too. well, most of my friends are from hawaii thanks to someone i dated not too long ago.

Awesome Roommates are definitely very popular here! I lived with a roommate my first year here and then happened to find this one bedroom at the end of our lease, so it worked out perfectly. It's really hard for me to find housing in town because I have 2 dogs, so hopefully I won't have to move again anytime soon

that is nice. i know how you feel! i have a dog too, and he's not like most big dogs, maybe i just baby him too much, but he is really clean and doesn't wreak havoc on my place or anything. it will be hard to find a place with him in mind, and then quarantine will be a bitch when i do go there... not looking forward to THAT, poor pup.

Just do the quarantine on the mainland, that's what I did. NO WAY would I put them through that. If you do it on the mainland, all you have to do is have him up to date on shots, microchipped, etc, and you send a blood sample off. Then you just wait 4 months to come over (dog doesn't actually go into "quarantine" at all). http://hawaii.gov/hdoa/ai/aqs/faq5

now this has me thinking twice, my dog has a coat kind of like a husky, do you think he'd die over there? i'd hate to put him through hell, but maybe he would adjust to the humidity?

Lots of people have husky and german shepherd time dogs out here. For the most part, it's not ungodly hot. Just utilize fans or ac units for those few days that are bad. It only really gets humid when there's vog, which isn't all too often. He should be fine!
