I will definitely be playing with my diet...... Lots of vegetables, fiber, and fruit has been introduced just since getting my results. All my protein so far has came from chicken, fish, etc. This will definitely be a learning curve, but I think i will figure it out in time.

Agreed.
Regarding lowering cholesterol, I believe AOR has a time released Niacin on this site now. Really though, something like this needs to be addressed and hit in numerous ways and angles... the good thing is you likely caught this early and you are still very young. Knowledge is power and I think you now realize you have the power at your fingertips.

i wasnt even talking about money, I was talking about compromising your health, by putting in a poison. This is a drug that comes from a plant, a plant in which this drug (poison) is the plant's own natural defense, why would we take another species poison?
You should read the actual studies done on cholesterol drugs, you will be shocked by how ineffective they are when it comes to the big picture; heart attacks, cardiovascular diseases, etc.
BTW, there is no good nor bad cholesterol, each has a very essential function in the human body.

My Dad was 350 as well at one point, and he only weighed around 245-250lbs. He cleaned up his diet, added some red yeast rice...got off Lipitor and added some exercise.
He's down into a healthy range now, so it can be done man...and it can be done WITHOUT the prescriptions. If you want to give them a go then by all means, but just remember some of them are not all they're cracked up to be.
With some dieting, exercise, and a select few supplements I think you're good to go man. There's some awesome info in this thread obviously, so you're in good hands. Time to get down to business.

Actually, not bad. It has the time-released niacin and I like the GTE.

OB likes it after using it. Sounds like a solid recommendation.
I would also look into Toco-8 by Primordial Performance: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/prim/toco8.html
Not only has the palm tocotrienols been shown to reduce total and LDL cholesterol, but also they work quite well at reducing the oxidation of LDL, which is a key event in atherosclerosis. A tocotrienol formula from a palm source such as PP's has many health benefits beyond this also and for 60 servings of what you get, that is a solid deal. They use the patented Tocomin tocotrienols from Carotech, which are as good as you can get.
http://www.pressreleasepoint.com/ran...rial-stiffness
http://www.npicenter.com/anm/templat...6126&zoneid=26
"This study showed that supplementation with as low as 50mg of d-mixed tocotrienols from Tocomin? SupraBio? for two months reduced arterial stiffness, in addition to other previously reported cardiovascular benefits including cholesterol lowering and antiplatelet effects."
The Primordial Performance product seems to be top-notch quality as does most of their line.
Here's a ton of info on Tocomin tocotrienols: http://www.tocotrienol.org/en/index/..._benefits.html
I'm a huge believer in the benefits of Vit. E, but not just any Vit.E as the pathetic studies continue to mess up using the wrong forms... Tocotrienols and Gamma-rich form of tocopherols is where the benefits are at.

I believe the cholesterol drugs come from red rice yeast, so that isnt good.

your avatar makes you look like a big guy. do you exercise? your ldl is horribly low. so low that it is a risk factor now. you need to change your diet drastically bc you aren't necessarily lean.

Only thing I'm gonna suggest is to reduce your overall fat intake:
skim (or at least 2%) milk,
cut down on egg yolks (or only whites for awhile),
leanest meats you can get,
tunas, chickens, (as opposed to 'meat' )
fat-free cheeses (yeah, I know they're kinda boring... but look for Borden x-sharp... okay by me! )
Smart Beat is a really good fat-free mayo that doesnt taste vinegary like the rest of 'em,
you get the idea.
Dont know what the numbers were when I started at 302, but here around 220 they are completely normal... unlike the oldest brother

Yes I am a big guy....but yes I do exercise, regularly. I will admit though, when I say exercise I mean lift.....cardio has lacked, but that is changing.

Fat loss results (in my loose metrics) :
80% Diet
15% Training
5% Supplementation
Far too often people have it this way :
90% Supplementation
7% Training
3% Diet

I'm very basic on the supplementation.....if any. Last real supplement I took was Isa Test and that was because my priorities were messed up and I was concentrating more on strength.
Currently I am only taking Fish Oil, and Poseidon.
I am going to switch to a circuit type training and lots of cardio, coupled with a good diet.
*All grilled, baked meats
*Lots of vegetables
*Lots of fruits
*High fiber
And I will probably be picking up some cardiovascular health supplements.

Nice man. Keep using a quality EPA/DHA rich fish oil free of impurities. I think that is a very nice looking regimen if your diet is on par... D3 should be fine, but I wouldn't go any higher myself... 2000-5000iu should be fine. Very nice with the PP stuff and I really hope to try the Vitaberry myself soon. Looks like the best berry type product I have seen, while remaining organic. I heard it tastes amazing too.
Niacin studies can be found here: http://www.aor.ca/html/products.php?id=134
See the 3rd study down on the time-released superiority! Seems 600-1800mg can be an effective dose.
I would take the Black tea without milk and maybe try to avoid protein foods if possible, when ingesting it as the amino acid proline can interfere with its benefits... I am not 100% if this is the same regarding its effects on cholesterol and inflammation, but it appears this affect is apparent when looking at tea and loss of bodyfat.
I'd also look into ensuring adequate amounts of other B's when consuming high levels of Niacin... even if you were to do this every few days or so.

Thanks....
I will check out the studies on the Niacin. Most things I read showed effective doses at 2-3g daily....but I will check out the study you provided.
As far as the black tea....it will be without milk, and taking just throughout the day as a drink. So I will make sure it is not effected by food.
I forgot to mention I will also be taking Nimbus Poseidon which will give me other B12s. I will be dosing 4 scoops per day.
I am also thinking of adding a green tea supplement to the mix as well.

Primordial Performance have an organic patented GTE called InnovaTea? I highly recommend as well as this tea blend extract on bb.com: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/prim/tea3.html
I think that is a great idea looking at the literature.

hey tim...sorry for your misfortune..but definitely reversible. To raise the chol/HDL ratio, 1-2 glasses of alcohol a day will acutally raise HDL (can be anything from beer to shots to wine, preferably red wine b/c of the antioxidants). Just don't start thinking more is better...lol
As mentioned above, Niacin (B3) is proven to raise HDL while mildly lowering triglycerides & LDL, however the side effects are flushing, so you might wanna take it with aspirin (or some form of NSAID)
Add some cardio into the mix...
Decrease fat intake...esp. saturated fats
Decrease sugar intake...
increase fiber
If you smoke, cut back or try quiting.
Lose excess weight
but do all these in moderation, you don't want to shock you body...good luck man. You'll be in my prayers.

A little order today...
I also have Animal Omega, Nimbus Poseidon as well.
The others I want to add to this stack is Primordial Performance's Vitaberry, and Green Tea Innovatea.

Nice... don't go to crazy with the Vit.D considering the Cod Liver Oil + Vit.D 5000iu.

My blood work came back w/ bad lipids. 238/ldl 16/hdl
I'm curious to see if the Toco-8 helped as I ordered some yesterday.
