I stumbled upon this thread today after a long break from visiting this site. I have to say it is the best thing I have come across in ages. I am right now re-beginning my weight loss journey. I was November of 2005 when I started to get in shape and loose the weight I accumulated from a completely sedentary lifestyle. I was about 225 lbs andi would guess about 25-30% BF. I started hitting the weights and got my diet in check. I did very little cardio at the veginning and increased it over time. By April of 2006 I was down to about 195 lbs and 13-14% BF.
The confidence level I had unbelieveable. I went out frequently to clubs and the response I recieved from the girls in the club was amazing. I met my wife and then stopped all working out and my diet changed drastically. About a few months ago I weighed myself and was shocked that I was 270+. I started to eat better but had trouble sticking to it, but dropped down to where I am now, which is about 255. I am finally getting my diet back and got my workout room set back up. I am starting slow so I can get used to my new routine, but here in a few weeks after some reasearch I am going to try my luck with ketogenics and start my journe to where I was when I was still single.

I definitely feel a LOT better physically and have a lot more energy throughout the day having gone down 22 pounds. But as for the title, I used to be 155, and when I ballooned to 205, I was treated a little differently than when I had been lighter.

when girls come up to you and grab your chest or arms, or ask if they can feel them, it's a good feeling. unfortunately guys tend to touch them too.......
and another good feeling is when girl's say "hey! i think ur chest is bigger than mine!" and they don't mean your flabby man boobs.

Within this haze of pleasure and pain, there's knowledge and power, self-discipline and self-reliance."

hehe ^^ same, im about 15%bf atm, was 19 when i started, havnt lost any weight as such, maybe a lb or 2. Lost bf/ganining muscle.
I wouldnt take my big heavy hoodies off in uni nevermind wearing anything to reveal the moobs in a club. That was only 4weeks ago, moobs nearly away and feeling class, still set to lose bf and gain muscle, 6pack for july! :P hopfully...
But aye, getting noticed in uni, gym, clubs, everywhere really, by guys and girls ;/ tis all good i suppose, awsome to some, depends how ye swing dnt it.
Not only that, im constantly buzzing, confidence has rocketed, im not a show off, but its alot better than what i was like. More energy also.
Plus ive notcied my everything else in mu life seems to be going alot better, its def alot happier i can say that. Ive become a really positive person from nowhere, gf loves it lol :P And i must emphasise, it rains pretty much everyday ere, so its just wierd to be happy happy happy, but i like it

Original Question:
Were you treated differently after losing alot of weight?
For those of you that have lost alot of weight tell me if people acted diff. towards you or if you noticed anyother changes with yourself.
Did you get more stares?
Did your genitals change in size?
Did you get negative or jealous reactions fromn friends/family?

Started my lifestyle change at the beginning of the year, so far lost about 40 pounds. Feel so much healthier and alive.... can maintain eyecontact.... can approach people at the gym without feeling worthless... generally about 10x happier with everything i do.... have a positive outlook on life now.... love to go out
still got weight to loose and that should be done by the end of the year
oh, did i mention i gained an inch down there...? HAHA :P
keep it up guys do it for yourself.... everything to gain and nothing to loose.... except weight!!

I'm still halfway to my goal, but I think I'd like to post now. I grew up with a single mother who owned a dairy shop and a fast food restaurant. My diet, ever since I was a kid, consisted of up to 5 cans of soda a week, 3 or 4 servings of french fries a day, and lots of fat and sweets. I'm now halfway through med school and, while studying diabetes and other health issues associated with fat people, I decided it was time for a change. I weighted 250lbs with around 26% bf, and right now I'm at 217, around 17% bf, and I feel great. All my old pants fit now, I've had to make new holes in my belts, I can find good clothes that I like and that fit me almost all the time. The motivation I've gotten from this thread has been amazing. There's certain stuff that I thought only happened to me, but I've noticed it's pretty common amongst a lot of us. For instance, I've always noticed people looking at my shopping cart while I was in the supermarket. I thought I was just paranoid, but I've heard it mentioned more than a few times now. Also, the amount of head-turns you get when you lose weight just skyrockets. The reaction from my family has been great. My roomate/cousin has been the best support ever... listening to all my "wow, I lost 0.6 pounds today " stuff. I'm eager to lose the rest, then start a lean build. It's amazing what no self-confidence will do to you. I live in a caribbean country, Dominican Republic, and it has just the most amazing beaches... and I love swimming... but it's been more than three years since I've been to a beach, just because of how self-concious I've been about being fat. It's incredible that I'll be able to go in again in as little as four months. It's just a tremendous feeling to finally be motivated enough to conquer the fat bug. Anyway, I'm rambling now, so I'm out. Still 32lbs left to go, wish me luck!

I started my journey on January 1st of this year. I remember distinctly waking up on New Year's Day after going to a New Year's Eve party and just feeling like crap. I was at 256 pounds my highest ever, a smoker and just overall in bad shape. My weight gain was slow and so I don't think the people around me noticed too much, and even to this day when I tell people how much I've lost they ask me from where but really my progress pictures speak volumes.
On January 1st I quit smoking, cold turkey and have not had a cigarette since. I joined a gym on the 6th and began eating healthy. I initially lost about 10 pounds and was doing well but wasn't satisfied yet and my schedule due to work was hard to facilitate going to the gym everyday. I then began p90x which I believe is a phenomenal program, in addition to this I went to the gym when I had time and did additional cardio and heavy lifting. As of today I am down to 192 and feel great. I go to the gym now to supplement the p90x and have made more time in my schedule for rest and recovery and have seen even better progress.
As far as being treated differently it is incredible how different I am treated by everyone, people I hardly know compliment me all the time and ask me for advice. Women look at me completely differently and even guys seem to respect me more.
Luckily through my weight gain and loss I have had my girlfriend who is has been my best friend years before we were together. She is kinesiology/pre med and I know it killed her to see me get fat but everything in our relationship has become 1000x better with my weight loss (everything ;D). She has always been very fit and I am lucky she stayed with me through my bad years.
My friends and family have been supportive but with some jealous jibes. My father in particular has always been very critical, for instance a bit back he told me that he is happy I finally decided to do something about my weight but i should stop walking around with my new swagger. But really it is just jealousy. Other of my friends joke about me being muscular and saying it must suck to watch what I eat, and that they hate working out. But really I love my lifestyle and am thankful for the discipline it has given me.
On a sort of side note to the whole thing. I think that the best thing about my loss has been the doors that have opened to me. Whether it be climbing, hiking or just going for a jog with my girlfriend I have been able to do things again and am even better at them than before the weight gain.
This thread is awesome!

Yes. It's especially noticeable if you're a girl. When I am in shape I get asked out all the time, my social life flourishes. I've been battling with hypothyroidism; during that time I gained around 40-50lbs. Soon enough I stopped going out as often, meeting new people, and new guys... None were interested in me. Now I am trying to get back to my old days (lost 10lbs so far) and again I am noticing the change. It's positive of course, but it saddens me to see how layers of fat change people's perception about who I really am.

I guess its time to tell my story. In high school (grade 10-11) I was over 300 pounds and over 40% BF. Some people dont understand how hard it is to be young and overweight. You never want to do anything with people because you are always worried about how you look. So I started to eat well and lift weights and over the course of about 2 years I was down to about 230. This year entering university was again hard because I am still overweight at about 25% BF and the people again just saw me as a heavy guy because they have no idea how far I had come. Now with my summer off I am looking to loose even more and show back up to school looking and feeling better than ever before. I am working my ass off right now and hope to see a big improvement within the next few months.
As for people treating me differently I would say yes. My friends have always been good to me about but its great when u see people that you have not seen in a while and they tell you how good you look. This year at school I got close with a girl who I dont think would have ever even given me a chance a couple years ago.
Wish me luck in the next four months. I cant wait for the change.

My story is that first I was very overweight, and people saw me as a fat geek
I lost 50 pounds which brought me down to a skinny @#$@, and people bullied me
I gained 30 in muscle, and now people are afraid of me. I hate people.

back in high school I was originally 255lb...then dropped down to 200lb in a period of about 6 months...afterwards all my teachers and friends complimented my new look...
what was funny was that i didn't even realize that i managed to lose so much weight over the summer...i didn't even weigh in until after my classmates mentioned that i had lost a lot of weight...the weight was lost unintentionally due to some crazy life stress/crisis...
but after seeing the well response it pushed me to drop down to 180lbs....
after moving into a job with less activity and easy access to unhealthy foods my weight went back upto 206...now i'm back in action to fix it up...fallen down to 198lbs...and hoping to get down even more now that i got some proper diet and gym sessions going on...

What rhymes with lump?
So far I lost 12 pounds in 1 month and grew 1 inch taller; Thanks to all the swimming i've done I have broad shoulders!, It makes look very manly and i've notice people say hi to me more often and i've gotten more stares.
But I still have 30 more pounds to lose, this thread is great for motivation.

I finally broke into the 230's this morning after a long stall at 241. It is very likely dehydration but ya know what, it finally started moving again. I started at approximately 270 around January 1'st, at 5'-6" that is pretty eff'n round. I say approximately because I logged 264 in Fitday after several weeks of PSMF so I think it's a safe bet I was 270.
I was 237.5 this morning...
I was wearing 44 dress pants below my belly in January although they were not tight. The same 44's will fall right off even if I pull them up over my stomach where they belong. I could not wear the belt I am wearing right now in January and now I am wearing it and using the fourth hole. I filled out a 3X shirt comfortably and today I am wearing an XL, I could use a little more room in this XL to be comfortable and other XL's won't fit but what the hell, at least I can fit in one XL now.
I have received compliments from coworkers during the last month, retail people seem much more willing to talk to me and this is cool, because 90% of our workforce is from the local University.
I feel a lot more confident but I can't imagine how it's going to feel when I break through the 200 pound barrier!

I feel a lot more confident but I can't imagine how it's going to feel when I break through the 200 pound barrier!

My largest waist size was 42-44' back when I was younger (around 17).
My lowest since then was 30', and currently it sits at a comfy 32'.
The difference in the way people treat you is remarkable. Girls have complimented me, as well as guys, but there was a time when I did think they were all just taking the piss.
Guys would say things about my looks, girls would say I was showing off because I wore a tight-ish t-shirt, as well as various other compliments.
I always brushed it aside though, because I was the fat one. I was the one who people did not notice.
I still get somewhat embarrassed when I see girls looking at me and smiling because I associated myself with the fat guy for so long.
