She needs to marry an American to attain her citizenship. She has a b/f, who is also an immigrant. She lives in an Upper-Middle Class neighborhood. She is 37yr old, bartender, smokes. Here are the stipulations:
-I have to move to Floral Park, NY
-Legally marry 'O'
-Live in NY for 3 years minimum
-Live in same residence as 'O'
-Divorce after 5 years minimum
-Stictly Platonic relationship
Compensation:
-2,500.00 up front, 2,500.00 after first year
-Free housing for 3 years (includes everything, cable, internet, water..etc..)
Pro's:
-Money
-New experience
-Free Living
-She knows everyone in the 'village', I would be part of the 'IT' crowd
Con's:
-Uprooting myself
-Leaving friends
-Moving out of my super-cheap awesome apartment
-Quitting my job, not being able to get it back
-Leaving Colorado
-Adjusting to new lifestyle and schedule
So...this would happen within the next 2-3 months if I go thru with it.
What do you guys think? Should I ask for more money or go with this deal as is? What does the misc think?

If she already has a green card, she does not need to marry anyone. Green card is a permanent residency. You can just renew it. Matter of fact, you can apply for a citizenship after five years of having it. This does not make sense to me.

Marrying a foreign national for the purpose of committing immigration fraud=federal crime. Federal felony to be more precise.

^This. But, FYI, Mexican women have been known to pay $10,000 up front, and $5-10,000 for each year of marriage. Just saying. Maybe you should test the illegal immigrant market.

What if she decides she wants to screw you over? What's the worst that happens to her, deportation? What's the worst that happens to you? Jail?
I see how this works...a year in she decides you have to pay rent, you protest but she claims she'll flee back home and leave you to face jail time for fraud. You pay rent. Then she decides that she wants her bf to move in. You protest but again, fraud charges, so you allow it and now you're living in the basement and paying half the rent for the house. Then the chick decides that she wants to randomly **** you over for stuff and you can't do anything because you're facing jail time since she was smart and documented everything to eventually hold over your head.
Then 5 years from now she divorces you (takes almost everything), marries her bf, and you're ****ed.
and what if she wants a kid? Her and her bf have a kid and you're stuck paying support payments after the divorce...lol
I wouldn't do it unless I really trusted the person. You're risking your entire future so some illegal can stay in the US?

main thing i'd look at is the job... I mean you're saving a lot of money by getting free living and im sure she will be in the kitchen mostly so what could go wrong? If you were as lazy as me you'd already be waiting there for her, i hate working

This is crazy. Not only is this illegal, but why would you ever put your entire personal life on hold for 3 to 5 yrs at your age? Read the post by NoName. That is just one scenario that could result from this. Have you even considered the possible effects on your name and credit record. She has your name and establishes credit in that name. At the very least you will be stuck with half of the debt at the divorce. But she would be stupid if she didnt leave you with all of the debt. What could you do? ...sue her in court? That means you have to expose the fraud of the marriage in the first place. Now you have all of the debt and jail time.
Why are you even discussing this? This is a storyline for a badly written reality show.
Jim

Dude you live in Littleton. As a fellow Coloradoan I'll say this; five years in a place like NYC will do you good. Get out, have a new experience, then decide where to go from there. Only live once brah, and I would hate to live my one time in Littleton and only Littleton

Aside from the immigration issue...which I'm disappoint son...
What if you find a girl you'd like to marry in the next 5 years?
My friend married a polish chick so she could gain citizenship and bring her family over. Worst mistake of his life. She was hot though...and we all wanted a piece of her. They dated a year or so while married, but that was it. She was a stripper too...sigh, the good ole college days. "Hey man, wanna go to the strip club?" "Nah brah, my wife is workin tonight." ...

not for 5k....
5 years of my life, "commited," I would need atleast 10-20k a year to do it on top of al the other perks.
On the flip side, being in NYC when your young and "single" would be an awesome expeireince...

wasting 5 years of your life for 5k, yeah I don't think so. You gotta be real low on money to do that. That's like what, 83 dollars a month? Lol, no thanks
