Extreme diet?
I'm 45, 6', 190, in decent shape with a little body fat on the waistline. I just started with a personal trainer who seems to have some extreme views. I'd really like your feedback.
He insists that I eat only vegetables, fruits and protein from turkey burgers, chicken, pork tenderloin and meats. No milk or milk products. Absolutely no breads, pasta, oatmeal, grains.
He's totally opposed to any type of supplementation, including creatine and whey protein.
I told him I had a turkey sandwich on whole wheat for lunch and he got so upset with me I felt like a kid with a bad report card.
Help, please. Is this trainer trying to whip me into shape really fast to show results or is this regimen extreme? Your responses appreciated.

whether you're trying to bulk or cut, his diet advice is absurd. i know it sounds like he wants you to eat "healthy", but there is no reason for you to elminiate carbs and dairy from your diet.

he sounds a bit ridiculous.. i figured when he said no bread, grains, dairy, ect. he was just trying to control the insulin. but, recommending fruit would be contradicting to the whole no-carb thing. i wouldn't listen to him.
and ask him why he's opposed to whey protein. i'm sure he'll have some retarded reason.

depending on the fruits/veggies allowed, it sounds like he is trying to get you on a keto diet. Yes that is an extreme diet.

Man, get another trainer.
This guy can't just throw you into any diet without making sure you understand what it's about. It sounds like he hasn't actually explained anything of importance to you, and has only sets limits as to what you can do with no reasoning. Although there may be, these are things he has to make sure you understand.
Yes it could be keto, and if it is, he should ****ing tell you what it is, tell you how it works, the pros, the cons, and then ASK you whether this is a diet you would be willing to get on.
In the end its all about you, your goals, and what works for you.
Your trainer sounds like a douche for getting mad at you for eating two slices of bread.
