Cottage cheese would be good or you could swap the whey for casein protein powder.

I suggest anything low calorie/carb and high protein like a protein shake cottage cheese is good aswell. I usually have 1 scoop of provision 6 by techline(great protein powder) mixed with water to cut down on calories.

Why do carbs and calories have to be low at night?

Seconded. Whey may be good for when you are awake and active, but it would go to quick to be of real use while sleeping.

Low fat cottage cheese is pretty lean, as cottage cheese goes. 12g of protein in 1/2 cup, not too shabby.

Although for losing weight you might want to concentrate on your breakfast too. A snack at bedtime just keeps you out (allegedly) of the catabolic state. Breakfast can (allegedly) ramp up your metabolism so it burns more through the day.

Go for cottage cheese instead of the whey. You want a slow release of protein to hold you through the night to prevent any muscle loss that may occur.

Can only speak for myself, but i find it harder to get to sleep at night if i've eaten more than a light snack within 30mins of 'bedtime'.

Though i guess if you're eating some hot turkey... pow!

what else would you recommend for a slow release of protein other than cottage cheese or casein? not a big fan of cottage cheese and i might have to hold off a little bit before i go out and buy more protein powder
