ruined metabolism?
Hi, I need some help, so if anyones reading this and has some advice it would be appreciated. I've been competing alot this year, mainly taekwondo but also 2 powerlifting competitions. I compete in -67kg and -67.5 kg. I've been havong problems with my weight this year. My first competiton was in january and I was 2 kg over so I didnt eat for day and a half to make the weigh in. I know it's stupid but I was desperate. And I've had competition since then with no more that 2 weeks apart, sometimes just a week. And before every competition I've stopped eating to make the weigh in and I as he weeks go by I always have to loose a bit more than for the last one. Now I have about 2 months with no competitions. I decided not to step on the scale last two weeks and that is something I'm never doing again. Went on the scale this morning and I was 71 kg wich is 2 kg more than I have ever been. Somebdy told me that with these staving periods I have ruined my metabolism and it might take about 6 months for it to get back on track. Is it true? Does it happen like that? And what can I do? I dont have 6 months to get heavier before I start loosing again. I have a competition in the end of june. So if anyone can help me out it would be great!!

A couple of days of fasting is not enough to have drastic effects on your metabolism for more than a few days after you start eating again. To be honest it just sounds like you need to nail down your diet.
And in the future don't starve yourself to make weight. No offense but that is a seriously foolish concept on many levels.

I agree. You're probably overeating to compensate for the periods you starved yourself to make the weight. Start tracking your food.

First of all, from what you have told me your metabolism is fine, dont worry.
Also, you need start working on cutting weight before competitions.
Do you weigh in night before, or night of?

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'm just panicking cause this has never happened before. I usually dont have any problems with the weigh ins. We weigh in the night before for tkd and the same day for pl. I dont like starving myself and it isnt what I would liked to have done, but I didnt know what to do when 2 days before the first competition I was still too heavy. Maybe I was just overeating after the competitions to compensate. But I still dont like the weight I've gained the last two weeks. Guess I'll take a hard look at my diet. And agan, thanks for the feedback, it's such a relive that my metabolism should be fine

First of all with night before weigh in's and only being 2lbs over, use methods of water weight manipulation.
I have never had to do a night of weigh in, but how your pl comps. how long do you have between weigh in's and the actual comp.?

We're talking 2 kg, not 2 lbs Water weight manipulation hasnt really worked that well for me so far. I also get so nervous when I'm too heavy and the competition is coming up that I cant eat anyways. With the pl competitions we get two hours between weigh in and competiton, I would like to do that the day before as well

Water manipulation is the easiest way to make weight for me at least. Otherwise just get your diet in cheack before the comp.
Remember tho, there is a difference between making weight, and losing weight. Bodybuilding.com may not be your best source for making weight for a competition.
