Question *Seated calf raise vs. standing calf raise*

Is their a difference in the muscles they work?
and is one more effective than the other?
Thanks.

the standing calf raise works the gastrocnemius mainly, and the seated calf raise works the soleus.

I like single leg calf raises becuase they work out muscle imbalances and are extremely hard.

You should do them both, try supersetting them together.

But the standing calf raises mainly targets the gastrocnemius muscle which is made up of two heads the lateral head and the medial head.

Seating calf raises mainly targets the soleus part of the calf muscle, which gets activated when legs are 90 degrees.

Both exercises work both sections of the calf muscle but standing just places more stress on the gastrocnemius and seated targets the soleus more.

Do both for big calfs.

Depends on how you angle your feet.

It mostly depends on how you angle your feet to determine which head you are hitting.
