Not sure if we're going to make it up or not....and don't even get me started on the greatness that is the TAKS.

No lost days for me here in Dallas, yet. I understand that the Texas Education Agency can "certify" the need for absences. In that instance, teachers would lose no salary, the district would lose no money for students not in the classroom, and the kids would not be required to make up the lost days. That's a lot of trust in the TEA. I wouldn't hold my breath, from what I've known and experienced from that particular agency! LOL

LMAO I have no problem with a minimum standard test. I do have a problem with a student's academic progress, especially lower grades, riding on the results of one test. It's most difficult for them, not to mention the pins and needles that a third grade teacher experiences waiting to see if you're qualified, proficient, and worth your salt, all based on how a bunch of 8 year olds perform on any given day! LOL I guess I knew the job was dangerous when I took it! LOL To be truthful, I do love pulling the proverbial "rabbit out of the hat" every Spring! Rarely do the little charges let you down! But it is harrowing, to say the least.

I just don't think the standardized test should count for so much, in terms of advancement, funding, etc. that the majority of the curriculum has to be centered around coaching kids for the test. It's one of the main reasons I do the private music lessons, tutoring and substituting thing. Same money and no stress.
btw, guys, running my first supplement log here (link in sig) and I'd love some support from the Texas contingent if you guys'd like to drop in now and again.
cheers!

No preparation for a show here, unfortunately! LOL But I can tell you that I've never been more excited about working out, even when I was a young fella' in my 20's! I am making steady gains in strength and definition, and couldn't be happier with my general progress. Well, you always would like to get bigger, but that too is taking place, just takes longer than I would like it to!

right. i am very excited about training these days. i just took a couple of pics and saw how much i grew this year. i really didn't get a sense of it till i was looking at myself. for the women, we always want the lean legs, tight abs and all without losing body fat up top!
no one has honored posting progress pics, so i am going to put it out there again for the group. lol!

welcome. got here just in time to experience the Texas summer. 100 and 80% humidity. none of that wimpy "dry heat" goin' on round here.
At any rate, you'll find us natives a friendly, yet quirky bunch.

Long story short i can deal with the heat. I grew up in MI, joined the Air Force and spent a year here in Texas, moved to FL for 4 years, then the U.K. for 3. Then back to MI for 8 months and then to Tucson for the last 6 months. So im pretty sure i can handle the heat.

welcome powerlifter erik. all are welcome in the group. and i can hear you on dressing a particular way no matter what the weather is. i dress in layers no matter and take shirts off as needed to stay cool.
what is it about some people and squatting? lol! i think some guys have gotten stuck on the cartoon character look - big upper body and no legs. hopefully, none of my guys in here are guilty of that. lol!

Yep Im always the only one that squats when I go in, theres a couple people I see from time to time that are regulars that do it but one kid tries to show off by loading weight and only going down 2-4 inches lol....everyone has tried to give him advice but he doesnt listen so what can you do?

i know the type. all you can do is let them go on with their business. i saw one guy at the gym - had to be a good 30 lbs overweight....trying to squat 405 lbs! brought him straight down to the ground. good thing he was in the squat cage with the safety bars up.
i had to back down from the weight i was using to get better form. i was 225 lbs getting parallel sometimes. depending if we did squats first. well, now i am doing 95 lbs going as low as i possibly can. big difference in technique and form as i know i wasn't going that low with more on my back. humbling yes, better quad development most def, ego - left at the door! and that is the difference.
