Is this a good bulk diet, simple complex carb question

Okay a few days ago in the gym a friend of mine who works out for almost 30 years told me that the reason why every time I try to gain some real muscle mass with some supplements I gain a bunch of fat with it too. The reason was that I was eating simple sugars throughout the day such as pasta. He told me to eat simple sugars only before and after the workout and complex carbohydrates the rest of the day.HERE is the diet that and created. I eat these meals i different order since I have a weird schedule at school, except 3 of them which are my pre and post workout meals.
PRE WORKOUT MEAL:
Chicken 7oz with 2oz of pasta and some tomato sauce that is 50g of protein, 59g of carbs, 3.5g of fat and 480 calories.
POSTWORKOUT SHAKE:
2 bananas some nesquik powder for flavor with no fat, 1 scoop of whey, glutamine and water that is 27g of protein, 87g of carbs, 2g of fat and 490 calories.
30 MIN LATER POSTWORKOUT MEAL:
Chicken 7oz, Sweet potatoes 7oz that is 45g of protein, 36g of carbs, 2.5g of fat and 350 calories.
ANOTHER MEAL: (This can be my breakfast)
Oatmeal 1/2 cup, Raisins 1/3 cup, some nesquik for flavor no fat, and some whitefish that is 39g of protein, 89g of carbs, 13g of fat and 625 calories.
ANOTHER MEAL:
Brown rice 1/2 cup, 2 Burgers (the meats) that is 45g of protein, 72g of carbs, 20.5g of fat and 665 calories.
ANOTHER MEAL:
Some bread and cottage cheese that is 35g of protein, 21g of carbs, 3g of fat and 265 calories.
ANOTHER MEAL:
Sweet potatoes 3.5oz, Egg whites 3 with one whole that is 25g of protein, 20g of carbs, 0g of fat and 225 calories.

TOTALS: about 265g of protein, 385g of carbs, 43g of fat and 3100 calories.

Can you tell me if this is okay diet to gain lean mass with least amount of fat and also the simple/complex carbs if they are properly placed in this diet.
Can you just tell me if I am correct or wrong simple sugars can be pasta and complex can be brown rice, sweet potatoes, oats. I never really looked at which food is simple sugar and which is complex, that is the reason why every time when I was bulking and was gaining a bunch of fat too.
Thank you.

I don't think pasta is a simple carb, just off the top off my head. Simple carbs are things like glucose (sugar), amirite? :/

Simples carbs are sweets basically. Such as sucrose (granulated sugar).

if you want simple carbs before/during/after your workout, just have a gatorade or powerade.

He gave you a great diet plan and you should try and follow it.
Just increase the calorie total when necessary.

I know how to bulk, but I want to learn to bulk without gaining so much fat. Does anyone know a good website where you can check the nutrition facts? I found a few but every time I check some food it shows different numbers on each web.

fitday.com

its got a nice database but i find i add in most of my foods via "create a custom food"

you just add in what you ate, how much, and it shows your total cals and macros

and its free

and fat wont nessecarily make you fat...its nessecary for many functions of the body...joint repair and lubrication is an important role played by fats, something all lifters should be concerned about.
