P90x Ab Ripper X
Just tried my first week of Ab Ripper X. Is it me or does this program seem to hit the hip flexors more than the abs? I mean, 50 reps of decline crunches alone kills my abs way more than this program has so far. Don't get me wrong, this program is tough, but I don't feel a great burn in my abs. Anybody else feel the same way? Share experiences please (rep a doodle doo's).

ab ripper x is meant more to burn calories and therefore lose weight. You don't get a great pain but you sweat alot. Tony just probably thought people would rather just want to see their abs for the first time by losing weight.

I agree, it makes my legs more tired than my abs. Here is a list of different exercises you can mix up to come up with a routine:

You tried pull down abs on the lat pulldown machine? These are my fav ab exercise by far. Attach a tricep rope to it, and put it around your neck and do standing ab pull downs. Youtube it, they are sweet.

try this, its what i do and it seems to work pretty well:
using a 10kg dumbbell or plate, hold it behind your head and perform 12-17 crunches
then move striaght to the next exercise which is;
lying flat on your back, try and hold a 10kg dumbbell between your feet and do 6-10 reps of reverese crunches, i suggest you dont drop the dumbell when in mid-exercise. consequences could be bad, not that i'd know, my mate almost did though when he was trying to copy me lol
finally finish up with side bends using a 10kg + dumbell in each hand 12 on each side.
rest for three minutes then repeat, rest again for three minutes and repeat.
as i said, works for me and you should feel it working by the second set. hope this helps, enjoy!

I just shoot for 1 hour per week. Right now I'm doing 3 20min ab workouts on my weight days.
