I hate it when its watery too. If its too watery I pour the contents into a strainer inside a bowl and put in the refrig overnight. The next day put the cheese back in the container and dump the liquid. Although a lot of the liquid is probably whey.

for me thats
1 TB olive oil
.5 TB balsamic vinegar
1 TB oregano
sounds weird but its a little crunchy and I LOVE the flavor of Balsamic vinegar... i just gulp it down real fast and think about how freakin healthy i am. (or wish i was, rather....)

I figure if you force yourself to eat it you'll get used to it. Try some slices of mandarin oranges.

I don't care for it straight up a whole lot. Blend it into a protein shake, you'll never know it's in there.

Try as many different brands as you can find. I lucked out and the first kind i tried was sooo good. However, one time i forgot that i ran out and had to pick some up at the 24hr supermarket. The stuff was nasty, but i ate it anyways and learned my lesson.

I can not stand cottage cheese. But i will choke it down cause its easy to eat while at work, and takes a while to break down, which is good cause when it gets busy I dont have time to eat every couple hours. The best way I have found to getting it down is mixing it with blueberry yogurt, eating nuts with it, and drinking water to get it down.

i just started eating CC on monday night because i read it was a good meal to eat before bed. slow digesting and high in casein protein.
the taste of it isn't near as bad as the texture. i tried mixing it with natural peanut butter and found that the pb helps to take away some of the flavor, but not much of the texture. 1/2 cup of CC and 2tbsp of natty pb. i'll learn to like it...but its still some awful ****.

If you are ok with the taste but not the texture then throw it in a blender - puree it and turn it into a dip or a spread.

Hate cottage cheese..never will like it. I like Yogurts though; but thats different. Cottage Cheese has casein protein in it or something like that which makes protein dissolve slower. Thats why alot of people eat it at night.
Correct me if I am wrong.

yeah casein protein in milk products can maintain a positive nitrogen balance for up to 8hrs due to the fact it basically balls up in ur intestines.. YAY!

hmmm...that sounds good. i used to eat avocado in milk with a little (read: a lot) of sugar back when i was a kid.
as for the taste of CC...i agree it depends on the person. kinda like with anything else. some people like liver and onions, some can't stand it. i think the easiest way to get over the texture complaint is to blend it and make it into a shake. if the taste bothers you, just try to mask it with some very pronounced flavors like people mentioned (pineapple + CC is goooood.)
enjoy!

I tried cottage cheese about a year ago and it was the cheaper, store brand. I almost threw up and couldn't finish a 2 cup tub, I just threw it out. I got brave again and bought some Shamrock the next time and it was MUCH better tasting.
You have to buy the higher quality stuff like shamrock or lucerne (amazingly good). There is a big difference in taste. Now I have to restrict my nightly cottage cheese binge because I will easily kill the 3 pound big tubs in 3 or 4 nights, lol.

I tried a half a cup of CC on saturday night for the first time in my life. Needless to say, I gagged twice on it before giving up. I even tried putting a sliced up strawberry in it with no luck. I think it was a texture thing.
I'll give it another try one night. Maybe I'll throw some PB in like some of you said.

I don't like it much either. I have mine with strawberries and splenda or equal. I might try adding some yogurt and cinnamon to that. A few people said the brands taste different. Very true, I'm on my second container and I tried a different brand. It's not nearly as good(not that the other one was good either) as the other brand. It's a bit more watery and tangy. But I get it down before I leave for work in the morning.

I am one of the few who actually like CC plain. For variety I will blend it up with blueberries and use it as a dip. I have also mixed with a protein shake before. Not bad but then again I like the stuff. Never tried the splenda might have to try that tonight.
