Cool P90X - Day 1

Its set at 1500 yes. Sometime I go over but the highest would be 1800 and thats usually on days when I have *alot* going on. The numbers are right from what I've been reading but if you have any suggestions about the calculations I'm definitely open to them. Thanks for stopping by *smile*

Hey everyone, another week has passed and it was a good one despite the amount of stuff on my plate. I hit the elliptical for 6 days, 1 day off - 45 min 500 cals each. The weight training wasn't much due to time - it was twice last week. I have this week off at school so I have a little more time. I'm spending it getting my stuff together and catching up with schoolwork.

I haven't mentioned this when I joined ketologs at 1st but I am also an owner of the P90X system and I had taken March to get back in the groove of going hard at the gym etc.

So I'm back to it - its April and so I'll do my best to keep up with my progress on here

So far today -

20 min elliptical - 213 cals
1 hr Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X (hot damn.. it was good .. and intense)
I used 15 lb weights for all the exercises that required weights.

sonofab*tch moment --> decline pushups, dive bomber pushups

I have a 45 min low intensity elliptical scheduled for tonight. It is my hope that this keeps munching on my extra bodyfat.

Since I'm writing this post workout, I have to say I feel amazing. I feel very strong. I was tentative about ignoring the p90x diet and sticking with keto but I know myself, I'm consistent on this diet and it seems to work for me. I don't feel weak so. We'll see what tweaks need to be made as time goes by.

I'll be back later with today's nutrition and all that jazz.

WORD...I think we need a friendly competition I just finished Chest/Tris/Shoulders and I HATE that routine. If I had my way, I'd just do Legs/Back/Abs and Plyometrics everyday. I did 30 min LISS afterwards and also plan to do more tonight. You and I have the same plan it sounds like. Good luck!

*tee hee*!!

I *HATE* the Chest/Tris/Shoulders routine too! You have no idea! Good grief. Lol not only do we have similar plans, we have similar tastes. Btw I'm happy Legs falls on the day its does bc I feel like hell after I teach kickboxing Tuesday nights.

Plyo is awesome.
oh and I'm not doing pull ups yet. I love myself and have no real interest in trying to pull 200+ lbs up. I use this really thick resistance band for pull downs. I'll get there.

I'm doing the Classic so..this is going to be interesting.

I'm keeping an eye on you Annie!

good luck to you too!

Cool P90X Day 2

Thanks Changeit! and looks like Silent's got you covered about p90x - which brings me to today's update

AM - 20 min elliptical
Plyometrics - 1 hr

Good grief to today's task at hand - Plyometrics. A full hour of jump training - I love this disk but my legs weep. It isn't terrible. But I'm sure I'll remember what I did today in the AM tomorrow. Like I did when I woke up with my upper body frowning at me.

I smiled back though

why?

because I'm now at 201.5. Another 1.5 lbs gone

At one point, I SWORE this scale was broken (stuck). It's fine now though. hahaha

I'm headed to the library for a delightful evening of psych and bio because on the same email reminders where they say "ENJOY YOUR BREAK" .. they inform of us huge exams waiting when we get back.

hypocrites.

I'll be back later tonight to post nutrition and stuff..

oh yes - I don't know if I wrote this anywhere but my supplements are
- Hydroxycut Max before my workout sessions

- EAS carb control protein shakes mixed with EAS L Glutamine right after workout

- 1 Multivitamin

I ordered that Scivation protein drink because of that brownie video on the keto message board. That looks like it will drastically improve my quality of life as the little things give me such pleasure. *big smile*

P90X Day 3

So its 10:30 pm - I'm gathering my bearings while typing up the 1st half of this post ( I like to get my thoughts down right after a workout.. I'm most amped and clear )

I just finished today's P90X - Shoulders and Arms + Ab Ripper X since I didn't have time this morning. Had to meet up with my piano TA to work on some pieces etc etc

ok so.

- Ab Ripper X. Really now. I'm so focused on getting all of these moves since I'm conspiring to make my toughest 'body part' (abdomen) my absolute sexiest. Its part of my master plan. It will look good on me. I'll spend hours rubbing my tummy in front of the mirror. Anyway yeah I know about the "no spot reduction" thing. My point is I like feeling like I have a strong core - this workout is 15 min long of madness. I focus on form and get through it.. Monday I did this and Tuesday I felt a ..soreness for lack of better terms DEEP inside my abdomen. I do all types of core stuff especially in that ab class I teach. So what does this mean? I'm hijacking some of this stuff and bringing it to school. Thanks Tony!

- Shoulders and Arms. Last time I did this workout, I hated my life. But today I did it and I brought it. Since I only have 15 lbs dumbells (haha), it was a delicious challenge.

I have a love/hate relationship with training shoulders and I love working my arms period.. I'm focusing on my tris (another problem area) bc them toned on me will be good stuff too. haha

sonofab*tch moment - Static Arm Curls.

For those who don't have P90X..how can I best explain it.
You're doing 4 arm curls for each arm but while one arm is curling its 4, the other arm is flexed- holding the weight in the middle, not dropped to your side. I can curl my 15 lb dbs but that takes serious focus already so holding that sucker in the middle while curling the other arm?

Lets not talk about the faces and sounds I made during this. Lets just be happy for me bc I do this at home alone.

ok this post is longer than necessary - thats me putting off my cardio. BRB

_____________

OK just got in from my cardio session. 45:52 - 500 cals on the elliptical. AMPED. wow. I feel great

I don't know if it's bc I'm motivated or bc my heart and lungs no longer feel betrayed by my gumption but my cardio definitely brings me into a zone. For those of you who don't know - I have an overactive, incredibly vivid imagination that keeps me highly entertained. That plus great music gets me going.

__________________________________

Alright nutrition today isn't all that great

I only got in 1,231 Cals in 62/37/1
I did have my post workout protein shake/l-glutamate mix

But I only ate twice - 3 burger patties/ 2 slices of cheese + this evenings Tyson Chicken + salad.

not intentional.. just trucking all day.

oh yea - yesterday I did make my evening cardio + macros were 61/37/2 over 1,380.. hmm.. thats kind of low too.

I need to pay more attention..

night everyone

Your friend did a great job it sounds!

Yeah when I drop weight, I can always see it in my stomach. First to come, first to go lol
thanks for the support!

I am super tired today so this will be one of my shorter updates. Today was an hour and a half of Yoga X - the workout I thought would be my mid week break. The only break I can imagine here would be in my limbs. I am NOT that flexible. Working this program, I have the sneaking suspicion that I won't always be so clumsy and so.. restricted if I keep it up. And I will keep it up. I will.

It hurt though. It really did. Balance and all this holding poses stuff.. I feel *EVERYTHING* from the previous workouts.
So yoga block and .. all types of altering in hand.. I got it done.
This wasn't the yoga I was anticipating.. I'll tell you that. Last time I took yoga was in high school. I was *so* deeply relaxed, I fell asleep. It wasn't just me though so no judgements haha

I ate the same as I did yesterday except I had too much whipped cream. I don't know what my problem was today. I was waiting for my SciVation Whey to get here today so I could finally make my (keto friendly) brownies. I was in the house, studying when I didn't want to be.. just bored.
I thought it'd be here today. And it didnt come.

So I kept having whipped cream.

.. What does one have to do with the other? I don't know. The "treat" ness of it?

i can be ridiculous.. I know.
I'm going to dip a little extra in my cardio tomorrow bc I don't like the idea of the lactoseness messing with my ketosis - if it does.

Signing out

Hey!! *waves* lol yeah I'm working on the ketard thing. I don't know what I'd do without these forums bc I was DEFINITELY doing it all wrong!

- - - -

Hey guys, today is Day 7. It's a much needed rest day and I wanted to share something haha

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/attach...1&d=1239546836

The beloved Scivation Brownie. I'm on yummers mode right now - a little baking soda, oil, and Splenda to taste added to the original recipe and you're looking at a cakelike product of two scoops of Scivation Whey. Oh its so good. It took me 3 tries to find a mix I was happy with. I had to remind myself that the brownie was legit a few times as my being super careful has brought me to confusion at the taste of anything Carby.

Yesterday's nutrition was

- 3 hardboiled eggs AM
- A taste test of 4 batches of keto pancakes which consisted of flax meal, soy, and whey protein variations lol
- Steak and salad for lunch
- 6 wings for dinner.

AM - 45 min elliptical
PM - Kenpo X which was fun but a little light for my taste since when I instruct kickboxing I'm quite the mad woman.

The day before - Day 5

- Scrambled eggs with cheese for Breakfast
- 2 can tuna salad for lunch
- post workout protein shake + L glutamate
- sugar free jello and whipped cream. Just one!
- Steak for dinner

AM - 45 min, 500 cal elliptical
PM - Legs and Back + Ab Ripper X which was delicious. Painful but delicious. Its my rest day but I definitely still feel my legs. I feel so good though. But that could just be my brownie talking

I'm feelin' it

Being Easter and having kids, this is the ONLY thing that saved me from devouring chocolate eggs and lemon meringue pie.

Your journal is a pleasure to read, so thanks for sharing

Smile I'm Alive!

*dusts off the cobwebs* My beloved keto-ers. How art thou?

I suppose this will be the mega updates for the past week. I've been quiet but out of necessity. It was an incredibly difficult week but I made it and I'm really proud of that. I was running on very little sleep until about Friday. Exam after exam, responsibilities, and all this extraness. I mean- whats a girl to do. Unfortunately, P90X was compromised for it Not that I didn't do it - I did. Most of it. But I'm pretty sure I didnt give it as much as I should have bc for instance, There were 2 days off the top of my head that I just went through the motions off of principle. 3 hrs of sleep, no real bites to eat and pushing play at 11 pm bc in my world- as long as its not 12 am I still made it for that day..

Crazy. I know.

But I did it because it just drove me nuts to think I was skipping days. This week taught me alot about myself thus far.

Right now I'm basking in my endorphin high. I just came in from the gym- a nice paced 500 cal, 45 min elliptical workout. I feel very strong today. I haven't in days. Saturday, I ate carbs for the 1st time in 3 weeks. It was so..anti-climactic. I think I've trained my mind to just reject the carbs which isn't necessarily what I believe in. I believe there is a place for them, sure. Just.. not now.

Anyway so I suppose they were "dirty" carbs. A medium pineapple and beef pizza from Pizza Hut. Some mediocre ice cream. A Lean Cuisine Salmon and Basil dinner- that was pretty good. A slice of lb cake. umm.. I think thats its. Oh no - kettle chips.

First of all - LOL @ me. The mere action of reaching into a potato chip bag and putting it into my mouth put me at great discomfort. I'm not really a potato chip girl but when I DO do them.. super crunchy kettle cooked lightly salted chips with a very satisfying crunch factor is 3rd on my list. (Go Lean Crunch - I know, cereal, is #1, Tortilla chips no dip #2). But you should have seen me. You would laugh. I reach, I crunch, I frown. All I could think of was the detriment to my master plan. As a psych student who thinks everything is wrong with her, I didn't think my frowning upon it was healthy. Its potato chips, not antifreeze. The point here people is I couldn't enjoy it. So I left it alone.

Another thing not so fun about my dirty carb up - random foods that used to make me smile - is the bloating. As usual, I think I'm exempt from anything normal. I'll be fine right?

Wrong.

How unsexy.

I should also note that in my week of all things physical detriment- I 'met' someone..online. Yeah. It was delightful. A pleasant surprise, the night before a huge bio exam.. but I really like talking to him so .. yeah. I'm such a girl- sue me. Its been 2 years since..
Well - I'll try not to get to heavy bc in the event that I am googled, and he reads this.. how unhip of me right?

Its my fault for not looking far ahead enough to make this ungoogable.

I'm getting to my point.

So this person in all his darlingness is a foot and and inch taller than me. He is naturally slim and he's a foodie. Gorgeous too. Let me keep going. He watches the Food Channel for fun and he cooks. Ok I watch the Food Channel too but .. he looks forward to it. Quite seriously, meeting him, I noticed how I have come to eat food as a function - a tool if you will for my goals. My master plan. This .. this guy (I did just sputter online) eats with such passion. I don't remember the last person I've met who loved food so much. To my surprise, I was filled with jealousy. I mean.. waffle fries? What the hell are waffle fries? We did the web cam thing and he just ate .. and ate. (College students who finally do food shopping fall prey to the random things at the supermarket that are yummy. I used to do this). His eyes lit up as if it were Christmas. On crack.

I don't so much envy eating the crap as I envy eating with such.. abandon. Not caring about logging and counting. I count even when I don't write it down. I have a running log in my head. And I err on the side of caution by assuming its a bit more than less. I have become really good at approximating alot of my values. I'm a machine. An overweight one but we're working on that. And so I daydream about a time when I can feel like a normal person again in my skin and not think that eating the wrong thing for today will ruin my life. I don't always think like that but on my down days, I definitely do.

[After all, good food generally made me very happy. But with my body type, fighting clinical depression - yes with a smile on my face when people see me - I feel like I've been genuinely punished for it. I'll talk about this more later but while ice cream in all its goodness was a form of self medication to get me through the worst time in my entire life, it also helped me create a very lonely existance - especially before. I carry a lot of shame- I'm just an incredibly faker some days and so I'm known as "the confident friend"

pfft.]

Anyway we're past Saturday..into Sunday and my workout was so.. good. I feel really strong. I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow morning to hit P90X really hard since today is a scheduled "off" day in the program.

Today after the elliptical I did a great stretch - I'm trying to do alot more of that bc my flexibility is shameful. I also did my plank song.

Did I ever tell you about the plank song?

Well. In my ab and boot camp classes, the students know whenever I play this particular song - Emergency Room by Mario feat. Rihanna that we're doing planks. They hate it but they love it as well. If I ever deviate from that one song, they ask for it. Then do a collective groan, bless their hearts. We do 3 series of planks, 1st one being the shortest round and it lasts for the entire song which is about 4 minutes. We vary from a plank on the forearms to hands, back to forearms. Thats the basic variation. Some people started with me and couldn't do 15 seconds and now are up to the full song. Its awesome to watch.

Anyway so I did that knowing that tomorrow will suck (in a good way) bc abs in P90X is deliciously brutal. Oh it hurts so good.

This week I will be unscrupulous about what I do and how hard I go. I've weighed in at 200.5 for the past week. Its like my body spites me and damn it I'm breaking 200 this week. I don't care if its 199.5. I'm breaking it. Thats the goal.

This came out long didn't it. Damn my think-typing. You're awesome if you read this far LOL.

*big smile* talk soon!

Smile P90X Days 15 and 16

OHHHH IT BURRRNNNSSSSS

HAHA I'm just checking in with some updates. Yesterday I did finished Plyometrics which is a feat bc besides being tough, cripes - I instructe kickboxing and abs. Kickboxing -- I beasted it. I BEASTED it I say!

anyway nutrition wasn't terribly exciting but it did the trick

3 egg omelette with cheese
3 servings Tyson Chicken and a salad
Tuna + Mayo

which came out to 61/36/3 - at 1,223 cals

The day before was Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X. I didn't get to the elliptical for the extra cardio ( boo ) but it was a very satisfying workout. I had a few proud moments that I noted in my workout log

- Decline Pushups. I struggled into 8. 8!! My 1st time, 3 was my very best! :-D

- Dive Bomber Pushups - I'm managing these better. Awkward as hell for me at 1st but I suspect I might actually own these pretty soon

- I'm just liking what I see in the mirror. This whole keto + workout thing is working out for me. When I'm ready I'll share - I'm just saying!

Nutrition for monday was

3 hardboiled eggs + Mayo
2 burgers + 2 slices of cheese
SciVation Brownie

61/35/4 @ 1292 cals.

I don't know, the cals are a little low. I eat more when I'm just home all day. I can't seem to stick to the whole walking around with my food thing because with the stuff I carry already, its annoying.. I'm not at one desk - I'm all over campus.

ha last week, I bought this eety beety protein shake on campus for over 7 dollars.. so buying the food there isn't..yeah.

ill brainstorm this one.

talk soon!

THANKS YOU GUYS!!!

I simply came on tonight - its like 2 AM and I just got in - to say I'm really going to need a better system to log my stuff...maybe 1st thing in the AM bc these long, end of the semester slave driving days are not whats up and I feel disconnected from you wonderful people

I *do* think "I'm going to have to write down this pretzel on my log and my fellow keto-ers will know I've been naughty!"
So yeah.. maybe early AMs..

I'm about to pass out. I'll be catching up soon <3

Unhappy just.. off..

I am here waving for help.

help. << see that?
I'm feeling off. my nutrition hasn't been great bc I simply haven't been eating enough throughout the days. I'm working out but.. I don't know - it isn't strong as usual
missing some P90X days and its annoying knowing that it affects the whole point. Do I keep going? So I start over?
Mentally, I'm not where I want to be and thats most important to me since its the muscle behind how strong I am in all of it

I know perfection is a myth but with the final week of school approaching, final projects, and the ever important final exams - my mind is on that. But look, school stuff or not, I *need* to be on track. I don't want to wait until after its all over - thats at least another 2 weeks?

oh and pfft - I blew keto last night as my best friend and I sunk our teeth into the deliciousness on the big screen that is Channing Tatum and Brian White in the movie Fighting (pulse quickens) .. while having ice cream and pretzel bites.

I needed that. I really did. Not the pretzel bites. Channing. but anyway-

Now its the morning after, the MAY 1 on my calendar is staring at me and I want to head toward strong progress.

I am not happy like this - keep going? start from the top? I know better than to do nothing I guess

..

argh!

Just to subscribe to this thread! We have a lot in common regarding body type. I too am at 195-200+ lbs (depending on the scale). I carry my weight in the 'upper regions' like u do My high weight was 240 and I got as low as 175 in the past few years doing various keto based diets (ex: SBD and Atkins). So I know they work but consistency is key. Now using the good elements from each with my love for bodybuilding (did i just type that??!!!) I hope to get to a healthy weight. I too "hide it well" but the fact is, I'm too fat and I want to FINALLY get to goal. I had alot of bumps along the way that slowed my process. Mainly depression and trying to have a baby has caused me to put on 20 lbs (that I had lost!) in the last year. But here I am, looking forward to following your progress and working towards my own! BTW u really look great already--i'm guessing u have a lot of muscle and strength--u teach bootcamp classes! LOL
