There was the Boise (Idaho) Fit Expo going on this past weekend. As most of you know, Boise is the home of bodybuilding.com's corporate office and warehouse. The owner of bb.com, Ryan, came up with a great idea to have a Moderator Appreciation Day. Here, all the mods who could attend flew in. The purpose of this trip was to see how things worked "behind the doors" at bb.com, how the warehouse and corporate office operated. This was purposely timed to coincide with the Fit Expo. Man, it was a blast! Only 4 mods were able to make it. Ryan also had arranged for us to stay at "The Grove" in downtown Boise (http://www.grovehotelboise.com/ ). This entire trip was taken care of by Ryan--THANKS AGAIN DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!
The expo itself was awesome. We were able to get in about an hour before everyone else (general public) were able to get in, so we had our time to talk with the pros and get all the good stuff, hehe. Many of Ryan's staff at bb.com were also there. This Expo took place in an establishment called "Knitting Factory" ( http://bo.knittingfactory.com/ ). It was a venue for concerts and had a bar upstairs.
I got a ton of great supplements to try. My bag was so full that I had to check my bag instead of carrying it on. I didn't have my camera, so another mod took pictures for me.
There was a fitness/bikini show, a "scrawninest person show", and other posing. So pretty much, after I gathered all my supps, we ran back to the hotel to drop everything off. After that, we commenced drinking. One of the mods didn't drink, so he kinda watched over us. Man, I was drunk like a skunk!!! My dietary intake was horrible out there--probably had more alcohol than food. Hot chicks, great drinks, good peeps---good times .
Here are a couple pics:[indent][i]
Can't wait till next year!
Looks you guys had a great time!
Thanks again for letting me know about it....wish I could of been there... that is, if I'm still "eligible''.

Yo fellas, I haven't officially decided. Competing with the USPF makes the most sense because they have many meets in Southern Cali, but I'm looking to compete in a raw meet/fed. I've inquired to the meet directors with the AAU and USAPL. There is a competition coming up that just happens to be in San Diego. It is the "2009 California State Games ( http://www.calstategames.org/ ) (sanctioned by the USAPL) on July 18 that I'm interested in doing.

For those unaware, Chris is hilarious when he gets drunk (and he'll basically drink whatever you put in front of him at that point).
Too bad i'm not a mod, that's not TOO far from Illinois!
Thanks Nick, I appreciate it. My numbers are slowly coming back to me. I guess the weight gain helps.
The trip was pretty cool and it was great meeting the other mods.
haha, man, you gotta come out here again. I vaguely recall that night you and your girlfriend was out here. We had a great time, too.

I see you are still putting up some mad weight mate!! lol Wouldn't expect any less from you buddy.
I checked up the write up you did on the WS seminar you attended - I was so jealous bro!! Hehe We never get anything like that over here.
Hey Darren, long time no see. I know you've been through some **** and trying to recover. How is everything going? Nice workout you recently did, too. Hopefully you can get back in the swing of things.
I'm trying man. I'm glad to finally be over 200 lbs and then some. I gotta admit, I'm always in a conflict with myself--half of me wants to get nice and lean for summer, but the other half of me wants to simply just get bigger at the sacrifice of being lean...
Glad you read that post--that was a while ago!

Another great week of training completed. FYI, I have 5 workouts to complete for my microcycle. After every 5th workout, I make an update.
Everything is going great! The only blemish this week was when I was doing Seated Military Press. After doing a set with 205x5, I attempted a second set. While attempting the first rep, I blacked out for a split second. I saw a quick black flash, and my arms instantly gave out. I couldn't even control the barbell as it felt done on the safety bars. I have no idea why this happened. It can't be low blood sugar levels because I drink gatorade during my workouts. Since this, I have been feeling a bit fatigued. It might be time for a deload soon... Anyway, here are some highlights from this week's microcycle:
Quote:
1. Ultra-Wide Grip Flat Barbell Bench Press: 275x5., 285x5, 285x5, 285x5, 285x5 <~~Felt Great. I didn't have a spotter/lift-off, so unracking the barbell was sometimes a little challenge. I haven't done these in a long time! To see where exactly I place my hands when doing this variation, see the attached picture.
2. 3" Elevated Conventional Deadlifts: 480x1, 500x1, 525x1 (1RM PR!)<~~Man, awesome lifts here. My previous 1RM on this was 475x1 (I have a youtube of this), so this was a 50 lb increase. I was really stoked and surprised to go this heavy, for I was originally only shooting for 500 lbs. I also did this without shoes on, which is something I have been trying lately, and preferring. See my video of this below.
3. Front Squats: 295x5, 295x5, 295x5 <~~Not bad at all. I had a lot more in me. I did these after my sets on 3" Elevated Deads, so I was kinda taking it easy on these.
4. Incline Barbell Bench Press: 315x1, 320x1 325x1 <~~Felt really good! I wish I could say this as a PR, but it wasn't. If I recall correctly, the most I've done on this was either 335 or 340 lbs, but I'm sure I bounced it back in the day. Anyway, see my video of this below as well.
5. Barbell Floor Press: 250x5, 250x5 <~~Felt good doing these again. For those who don't know, this was the very exercise that caused my AC Joint issues and subsequently my shoulder surgery. I was very cautious about doing these, but they felt good and I will continue to do these. The weight wasn't challenging, either, but it did make my triceps sore.
6. Strict T-Bar Rows: 235x5, 235x5 235x5, 235x5, 235x5 <~~My back was really pumped after these sets! I try to start so my torso angle is roughly a tad higher than 90 degrees, and I deload the weight between each rep. Felt great to my lats, and hopefully it will add thickness to my middle back.
3" Elevated Conventional Deadlifts
Incline Barbell Bench Press
Weight Check:
Last time, I measured in at 208.2 lbs. Right now, I think I am at around 210-211 lbs when I weigh myself first thing in the morning (dehydrated and hungry). To compare the difference, I just weighed myself after working out--my scale had me at: 214.4 lbs YEAH BUDDY!
Diet:
I have been following the advise I've received and started consuming more protein shakes. I usually have three shakes a day. I still need to focus on eating more clean though. I can easily lose focus on this, so it's imperative I stay motivated and on track. I need to drink more water, too.

Not doing not bad thanks mate! I just need to get my old motivation back
I know exactly what you mean Chris about not know if you should lean out a tad or just keep munching LOL. Personally I don't really care about looking a bit flabby anymore. As long as I make sure I eat enough cals each day to keep my strength up.
Strong lifts there man!! Nice one! Sick elevated DL PR!!
How does the shoulder feel these days?
Strange that you almost blacked out - scary. Good job you were sensible enough to use the power rack!! Breathing pattern perhaps?
Holy crap. Great work with the deads and incline. We appear to be neck and neck...
I would recommend www.fitday.com for tracking calories. It honestly doesn't take that much time and it really does give a good look at macros. It is amazing the difference tracking cals can do to the diet. I also realized that I wasn't eating as much as I probably should have been in certain categories.

Damn Iron you slinging some big time weight on the deads and incline. Great work and nice job getting that size you are looking for. Seems like a solid past couple sessions in there.
Hope you had a great Easter as well my friend.

Just awesome. Deficit deads are a b*tch, and always make me feel like I got run over by a truck the next morning, but they are damn well worth it. Good luck if you compete in July. Judging by your video you should definitely be due for a PR in the deadlift.
Do you have a goal total you want to achieve? And do you think you'll cut to 198 or just keep bulking to 220?
