Today was day 4 for me on P90X. Are you taking any supplements now like some type of recovery drink or protein?

You gotta follow the nutrition plan too.
P90x isn't designed to get people buff and jacked, although because most people are stupid they assume being lean is "buff". Almost every exercise program sends you a nutrition plan because its your diet thats important. If youre doing P90x without a proper diet, you wont see results very well.

Not too mention it says results may vary lol

While I have not seen the actual program first hand, I have seen the infomercial 1000x. The fundamentals are solid as muscle confusion principals have been around for 40 years. I'd love to see the diet that they suggest you follow. For a Beginner to the sport, you probably can't go wrong with P90X as your body is not used to this type of activity. For an advanced or possible advanced intermediate level it may be more difficult.

Agreed about beginners seeing results. But what I find funny is that the underlying principal(s) of the program (in addition to the muscle confusion) is that it's HIIT. Just about any decent HIIT program mixed WITH proper diet and nutrition would yield the same results (and I know because I've created HIIT programs for clients that have done so). It's amazing how readily people will spend money on things (though I guess I shouldn't complain see as people are paying me to train them LOL).

tell that to ray lewis, he has been doing p90x and says great things about it. barry zito and some other pro baseball players used this program in the offseason as well.

And tell that to David akers, and a pitcher for the atlanta braves. I forget his name, but hey if pro athletes are using it, then it must be good. And plus I would like to see what any of us are going to look like when we are 51. If I can look half as good as the man who created the program Tony Horton then hell Im set.

Yeah, he is... He obviously uses Ultima and knows a thing or two about nutrition/diet as well. He says it is an excellent workout.

P90X seems to be pretty legit to me, I like to do some of the routines although I modify them a little to my goals and have substituted some exercises to more resistance exercises. When I do the chest routine, I throw in DB presses and stuff like that too rather than just doing what they have you do. If you follow it like you're supposed to with the intensity that you're supposed to you definitely feel it though.

There's no way I am not getting a killer workout from this, I feel pretty whiped out when I am done with some of the routines. I am sticking to mostly the resistance stuff for now and use it just for ideas on exercises to do sometimes while kind of doing my own thing with it.

It's more than I expected from an "as-seen-on-tv" kind of deal though.

So what supplements would be good with the program?

REALLY!!!! Professional athletes endorsing a product marketed to people that envy professional athletes!!! IT MUST WORK!!!!! No athlete would EVER endorse something that didn't work, and they are JUST LIKE US... they don't have professional dietitians and coaches aiding them at all, or unlimited resources to supplements (and NEVER, EVER use "performance enhancers")... ARE YOU %#*$ING KIDDING ME??

Get real people. You probably believe that your senators and congressman have your wishes and interest in mind don't you?

Watch your diet, eat good clean food and add the right cardio and ANY program will work. As for looking like that when your 51 I'll guarantee you that he (and all celebs and athletes that age) spend more time in the gym and more $$$ on food (specialized diets) and supplements then you would care to know about. Don't believe me, closely read the small print on the TV, on the website or on the packaging (*"results not typical" and/or "individual results will vary" and/or and this is the BIG ONE "when used in conjunction with proper diet" blah, blah, blah").

There is NO such thing as a magic program. But if spending the $$$ will motivate you to actually follow the program than it can have it's uses. Sadly most people can't motivate themselves enough and have to follow someone or something to get where they want to be.

He does use it. To be honest I saw it on TV and thought it looked interesting.
