Nuts are high in calories, as is cheese.

Just eat cheese logs and you're good!

But no, seriously, nuts, oils, and other calorically dense foods. You're not going to bulk off of strawberries and romaine lettuce.

When i was doin my initial bulk all those years ago, i had Maccas and KFC and Subway for easy calories all the time. Not every day, but definately a lot. Especially when i went out shopping for example or had lunch out with friends.

As long as the majority of your calories come from healthy food during the rest of your day & night, having a few fast food meals isn't the worst idea.

Now when you get to a certain stage, that's when you cut back on things like that and really tighten up your nutrition.

Yeah, i completely forgot the whole fiber things.

I was a bit anal when it came down to fiber, kept on telling myself i need fiber in every meal, which did help in the long run. But the feeling of being full and the "bloatness" are crap.

I will be replacing the whole grain brown rice and whole grain pasta with just plain white rice and pasta. Will be keeping the whole grain bread, for health reasons.

agreed^ I think new york banned them completely....bk is really the only chain that still uses them. I personally avoid fast food, but if you're trying to get 4200 calories in brah def go for that big mac.

I think alot of people feel that way because you can make your own without all the sugar and other things they put in there that are really not needed for alot less cost as well.

I can make a protein shake with 1k calories easily im not going to spend extra money on weight gainer. Just my opinion. Plus I know what I put in my shakes.

but i would avoid weight gainers to man, eat and enjoy it, you like pb or almonds? both are calorie dense, maybe add a scoop of pb with every meal idk just a thought

Put the oats and milk in a blender. Let them soak for like 5 minutes. Then add the rest and blend. You can alter the contents to meet your calorie requirements, but this should be some easy calories to add.

Or, try a high quality weight gainer if you want, but its really not necessary.
Or you could just let a tub or ice cream sit out for a few hours and drink that.

And we're talking MrOlympia contender, not some gym dude that doesn't care too much about his progress.
As the above poster said though, for overall health, the cheat meal could be a tad less artery clogging.

^This

Big Mac's are so unsatisfying to me it isn't even funny. I remember when my family would go to Mc D's and I would have trouble filling up on a meal, even with a super combo.

If you are looking for a good burger, damn, grill your own! It tastes way better. You can buy some good thick burgers, add some REAL cheese, avocado, bacon. It ends up costing around the same amount of money, tastes way better, and most definitely more calorie dense. You can't go wrong.

Edit: However, I have no problem with you getting some cheat meals in on the weekend. I just think the suggestion to eat Big Mac's to get your extra calories probably is not the best. There are plenty of high calorie foods where you can splurge and not have terrible side effects in the future because of eating them (read: natural peanut butter).

OP: Enjoy the fast food, and enjoy bulking. A big mac isn't gonna kill you, but I'd save my money and skip the weight gainers. Its usually a waste of money for like 12 servings. Just make your own, PB+Whey+Oats+Milk does it for me. Get some calorie dense foods like pasta and beef.

I removed whole grain rice and whole grain pasta from me meals, replaced them with white rice and white pasta.

It does help, i noticed less "bloating" look and feeling, as well as my apatite is better.

Still eat whole grain bread for fiber reasons, guess my anal addictions to having fiber in every meal does have it's drawbacks.

what's wrong with weight gainer powders? id say go ahead and use them if u need to fit easy extra cals in..the whole cheat meal thing i say if it's really a cheat meal and not an everyday thing..dont worry about what it is..go all out..gained 40lbs in a year by having 2 "cheats" a week i think it helped tremendously in my gains.
