You're showing abs at over 15% bf? How did you determine your bf?

You lower than that bro. I'm around 14-15% and not nearly as lean as you. Try again.

I'm 181 pounds as of today and between %12.5 and %13 on the hand-held Omron bio impedance thing.
OP looks way more vascular than me so %15 seems high. You're looking good either way man!

I would say that you are around 11-12. 15% is way to high. Those Electrical Impedence measurements are notrious of giving off false readings depending on how hydrated you are.

you're leaner than 15.4% unless you have no muscle on your legs at all.

I probably didn't word this thread correctly
I do appreciate the input -- I was hoping people would post their own pics with their BF % (and method) so that we can all get a better reference point

I use calipers and a chart to estimate bodyfat %. With the method I use I come up with about 6-6.5%. I think this is a little low though. My think I'm probably closer to 8-9%. People say that to see abs you have to have single digit, and going by that I would say you are less than 10%.

Thanks BJE - you look sharper than I do for sure -- I'm thinking this method (electrical impedance) is not the best method.

RBH - I did skin fold and came up with 11% -- could be that it's more accurate (and a lot cheaper) than the body composition monitor I bought.
Can you please post a pic and BF%. I'm trying to keep this thing rolling, so that we can all get a better idea. -- Thanks

I believe it...I have had 3 tests now because I too didnt believe the Electrical results...I am at 17.5 % And you can see a obvious six pack on me...and now after my start of cut slight 8 pack...and I am still above 16.7% So , do not believe peeps saying you cant see definition over 12%. In fact , it would be nary impossible for me to survive on less then 11%. Maybe for a Show (no i dont compete) but my body would not survive under 11%.

The point at which abdominal muscles show probably depends on how developed they are, and how your fat is distributed.

When you say three tests do you mean calipers, or some other method?

a 5 or 7 point caliper test
Electrical test (those hand held things at Gym)
Submergred test.( http://www.getdunked.com/home/default.asp)
All within 1% of the Gym Electric thingy test. I am 17+ % BF in my Avatar, and I would Imagine 16.8-9% now (started beach body cut) So yea, Until ya get a REAL test done...BF is a Myth on BB.COM. below 12% to see abs is SO wrong.

That sounds more like it .. caliper man , it' s pretty good, as long you are taking consistent reading
I went from 12-14% last year in August to around 18% right now after a 20+lb bulk

after

But I don't really give a crap about my BF or definition, I only track it for reference so even if I was 20% and later 30% my interest is in the difference between the 2 measuring not in an accurate reading..
So you took an hydrostatic test? and it came back at 17%
it seems very high unless you have extra fat on your lowerbody
Your avatar looks like 11% which is what you have in your profile

Who cares what the BF tests read out at. All that really matters in the end is the mirror and do you look like what you want to or not.
I have seen people with near six packs w/o any definition on the arms or legs. Some people with ripped arms and no abs. Hard to tell from a pic what someone is at.

I agree, your BF number is just a number. It's how you look that is the real measure.

I agree as well, but sometimes having a quantifiable measure helps to track progress that may not be so apparent.
