Does anyone else have this problem?
It seems like i have always had a problem with taking whey protein. A while back i was taking it and eventually it would get to be to much for my stomach and i would throw up right after taking it.....now i have gotten back into lifting heavy and i get the lean dessert protein and i also have the ON whey protein. I mix the lean dessert with my oatmeal in the morning (and also have taken it after work outs just mixed with water or milk) and it doesnt bother my stomach...but since i bought the whey protein i drink it with water right after my workouts. As soon as i start drinking it its like my stomach starts cramping up and i get the sweats and i feel like its all i can do just to keep it down!! WHat is with that?!?! I wanted to know if anyone else had this problem and what to do about it?? I want to drink a shake after my workouts (and dont want to waste the whey i've bought)!

ok, it's not just you. I think anyway. *cheesy grin* My ON has been making me nauseous lately. I called ON up and asked if it could be becasue the expiration date is coming up in a few months but they said no. When hubby tried some and got sick -he actually vomited- we decided to go out and get a new container. No problems all day.
I'm a little skeptical, so normally if we have any, I throw supps out when the expiration date is a few months off, but protein costs a little too much to just toss. Especially because we buy the 5 and 10lbs....
I kinda wonder if it matters that this bucket was stored in the kitchen. Anyhow just thought I'd share.

Have you tried digestive enzymes? The lean dessert is a mix of proteins...you could try a different one by ON like the nitro (it's mixed too) or maybe another brand of whey. I've been using the natural ON whey and it's pretty good. If you just started back taking protein it may take some time to get used to it. I remember when I upped the amount of protein I ate, I would get gassy. The enzymes helped digest the protein. It took a month or two and I was okay without the enzymes.

Agreed! I have a moderate milk allergy and most protein powders give me issues I do not even want to mention....some of what you have already mentioned. I would stick to your Lean Dessert protein as it works for you.
I found the only protein powder that doesn't upset my stomach is cheap ol' old school TwinLab protein. It works for me and I stick to it. Even musclemilk (lactose free) upset my stomach, and heaven forbid isopure that is worse.
I found that the proteins with higher isolate whey (purer better protein) upset my stomach more than the protein powders with a higher whey concentrate levels. Just something to think about.
But as LovelyLadyp said it could be a bad batch of the protein powder and I would chuck it out. Either buy another tub and try again, or don't buy again.

sounds like you might be lactose intolerant. try taking some lactaid with your protien shake and see if that helps. if not, you may have a dairy allergy.
as for digestive enzymes, NOW brand is the best IMHO.

sounds like u may be intolerant to some ingredient in the whey
try and find a whey protein with similar ingredients to your dessert protein maybe get a bunch off free samples before you spend alot on somethin that makes u sick best of luck

really? sorry to steal the thread, OP but i've never heard of people having an easier time digesting a whey concentrate v an isolate. i've always read the opposite for digestability (isolate > concentrate)

I have the same problem. It feel like my whole digestive system has to compeletly slow down to process it(I get bloated & gassy)... I have to take it 45min to an hour before I go to the gym, otherwise I'll get heartburn while working out. I just starting taking protein. It hasn't even been a full month yet, so I just thought maybe this is attributible to fact that I don't normally eat a lot meat, so I guess my bodies not used to all that protein at one time....I going to give it at least a month before I decide whether it's for me to continue.
The only thing I might reccommened is reducing the reccommended amount you take(I'm only 5'2, so I do not automatically assume that serving sizes apply to me). Or drinking half a shake, waiting a few minutes, then drinking the rest.
