Sooo good. Gah. Their amber is delicious too. I generally only see this stuff on the West coast though.

Definitely pre. Oats are low GI for extended energy for your workout. This beer won't spike your insulin enough for post.

Is this a clean beer though? I must have intense micronutrients or else I won't be healthy enough and then I might binge on spinach.

It is full of bioflavonoids and antioxidants. And ethanol. Pure, clean, ethan-1-ol.

Yeah, Young's oatmeal on nitro is fantastic. Like a thick espresso dark chocolate beer milkshake...
Everyone always talks about Samuel Smith's, but I find it to be very subpar.
Speaking of great stouts, I just had an amazing one. Bell's double cream stout. Unbelievable.

No need. Oats are already low GI. Good for prebed though so you don't go catabolic overnight (had two for dessert tonight).

Duh.
Why oats when you can have barley? Barley is better.
I do not understand beer its impossible to taste with all that carbonation.

I love oatmeal stouts, but IMO nothing beats a good witbier, hefeweisen, or dark belgian ale, sorry
This looks tasty though, alas it's not sold here in Canada. Thankfully there's a few local bars that brew their own oatmeal stout so I can get my fix there.

Sam Smith is still the benchmark for the style.
St. Ambroise is also quite good if you can find it.
The Trader Joes around here have Stockyard Oatmeal Stout (brewed by Goose Island) for 6 bucks, which is a real steal.
Not really a fan of most beers on nitro. They tend to mask flavor in a big way.

start on a full body 3x per week, add body part volume while reducing body part frequency as you progress. It's that friggin simple. It isn't "1 bodypart every 2 weeks for 70 sets" OR "Soviet/Bulgarian each bp 10x per week using 1 exercise each". There are middle grounds.

If you're in Chico, head on over to Sierra Nevada.
With any luck they'll still have their Imperial Smoked Porter on.

I know, but I'm not a fan at all. Has a very metallic taste to it. Thin body too.

That hasn't been my experience. Especially when I'm drinking Russian Imperial Stouts. Had an Old Rasputin on Nitro the other day- it wasn't lacking in flavor...

Try it side by side with the reg. co2 version.
It's a pretty commonly accepted fact in the beer world that nitro masks flavor. Obviously some of the bigger flavored beers will still shine through.
Bells definitely makes some great stouts. The Expedition is my fave of the bunch. And I still contend that Two Hearted is the best readily available IPA distributed on the east coast.

I'm well aware of how nitro changes the experience of a beer. I just don't see it as "masking flavor". In fact, I think (over)carbonation does a lot more to damage a beer's flavor than nitro. Nitro softens and tempers but I wouldn't say it masks anything. Carbonation, on the other hand, definitely can in my opinion. It also makes it unpleasant to drink. Try some San Quentin Breakout Stout- an otherwise great beer (almost) ruined by over-carbonation. I have to let it breathe for a long while to let it improve.
Of course, this is all subject to taste. Many people love drinking Bud Light.

I'm in SoCal, so the Bell's stuff is impossible to get out here. I'm not a big IPA guy. My buddy is all about them and the doubles; I'm convinced he doesn't have any operating taste buds left... I think his current favs are Pliny the Elder and Green Flash's offerings. They are great creations, but I guess I just don't like drinking Pine Sol...

Wow... Really?
Ok I love the "attempts" and generalizations to promote beer as an aid to strength/performance/gains... Even mentioning beer facts for Glycemic Index... I thought it was pretty clear that any alcohol kills protein synthesis, not to mention beer is such a empty source of CHO's...
That being said.... I'm all about the ARROGANT BASTARD ALE... now that is a performance aid!

Lulz. I was there a couple nights ago. They have the sample platter (beer) going in full swing. Good lawd people get drunk on that ****. I quit 4 years ago so I figure I might as well stay on that road. But yeah, people in this thread seem to actually know what a real beer is.
