Perfect Foods
SO for you...what would you consider a perfect food..when i say perfect i mean its the pentacle of a protein food...pentacle of a carb food...fat food.you get the point. it is the most beneficial for that particular part of your diet...
(if you answer a supplement..thats fine but can youa lso throw in a food item0
just curious.....
my own answers....protein, baked chicken with spinach stuffed on the inside and a small amount of blue cheese or something mixed with the spinach. i love that so much and my family actually eats it. but i usually just make baked chicken or grill it.
carb wise..hmm.....i love my organic, whole grain oatmeal that has some cinnamon in it.
fat wise.....this is the area i tend to not have enough of..i would say peanut butter . im addicted to peanut butter! lol.
although right now i dont have a huge variety to choose from, still learning what is good fat, bad fat, a good healthy carb, a bad carb like white bread etc etc.

these are by far my favorite sources. they may not be the best, but they taste good and are relatively nutritious.
protein- fat free greek yogurt, seitan.
carbs- quinoa, and whole wheat pasta.
fat- peanut butter is a favorite of mine, but any nut butter is amazing to me.
i also tend to lack fats in my diet. my macros need work. 45 carb, 45 protein, and 10 fat just isn't the best. i have issues limiting the peanut butter once i start indulging. it gets rather dangerous. everything i eat is low calorie and the calorie richness of pb scares me at times.

i could only do this in terms of what is the most of each macronutrient plus taste. so, things like hummus, although i love it to death, couldn't be one of my perfect foods. that said,
protein - 1. shrimp 2. 1% lactose-reduced cottage cheese 3. 0% fat greek yogurt
carbohydrate - 1. millet 2. oats 3. brown rice
fats - 1. almonds 2. sunflower seeds 3. coconut oil

I don't know about perfect, but most commonly featured in my day-to-day meals would be:
Protein: Prawns, haddock, chicken breast, tuna, quark
Carbs: Oats, sweet potato, apples
Fat: PB, whole eggs, salmon
I like a decent amount of fat in my diet- it usually comes around 30% of my split.

I've never been good at picking favorites so I'm just gonna list what is typically in my diet:
Protein: Bison or ostrich are my favorites but egg whites, chicken breasts, tilapia, tuna and lean beef are my staples.
Complex carbs: Oats, red rice, sweet potato.
Veggies: Sweet bell peppers, spinach, brocolli, pumpkin, yellow squash, onions, tomatos, jalapenos (I put pico de gullo on my egg whites every morning these days and jalapenos with almond butter spread in them are awesome! ).
Fruits: Bananas, apples, strawberries, blueberries
Fats: Walnuts, walnut oil, almond butter, avacado, salmon, egg yolks from flax-fed hens.
You might want to look up "superfoods" to get some guidance on what foods will give you the most nutritional bang for your buck!

i have to agree on the seitan as a favorite protein source
carbs - oatmeal, fruits and i like hummus
fats - i have recently started using a natural vegetable shortening for my baked goods, so it is a favorite right now.

I'm gonna say one nobody ever mentions: Mushrooms, they are perfect, very low cal and filling and have an almost even ratio of protein & carbs, and even a little fat.

Fats - Peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter - any and all flavors and varieties. I'm pretty much an addict.
Greek yogurt is ok. Just don't expect it to taste like regular yogurt - it's got more of a sour cream like flavor to it. Definately not sweet.

it is really delicious. at first i thought it was a bit nasty and bitter, but now i'm obsessed. add a packet of splenda if you want it slightly sweetened and no extra cals, but i typically go traditional and drizzle honey on it and eat it with kashi go lean. it is thicker than your average yogurt, if you tip the spoon over it will still be fully stuck to the spoon. very rich and slightly pricey, but worth it. the whey has been removed from the yogurt, which sort of bothers me but i think the casein gives it the protein. typically a whopping 15g or so of protein for a 90 calorie container. it comes in 0% (fat free), 2% and full fat versions. i have also seen a 5% around. oikos brand is always fat free though. skyr is also very good, its essentially the icelandic version of greek yogurt. very thick and high in protein, fat free, typically on par with greek yogurt prices.
whole foods has $1 off coupons for oikos brand greek yogurt in their 'whole deal' flyers. they also have a .50 off coupon on stoneyfield's website.

Carbs: Oats. I'm an addict...hate going a day with out them. Blueberries, sweet potatoes.
Protien: Salmon, Cottage Cheese, Chicken breasts, Eggs
Fat: Avocado, Nut butter
I always have a hard time understanding why people get addicted to gross fast food when healthy, fresh, beautiful food is so delicious!!!

I have to agree with you on the protein, Bison is one of my favorites with grass fed beef. But Elk (pasture raised and grass fed and finished) is my personal favorite. But it is harder to get so i only have it every once in a while. Usually my staples are grass fed beef, salmon and turkey breast for protein.
Fats - Peanut butter, almonds, walnuts, any sort of nuts for that matter. Avocado is also a weakness of mine as well as coconut oil.
Carbs, brown rice and beans are by far the best with quinoa a close second. And of course fruits and veggies.

Protein: fresh salmon/trout, ON 100% whey, canned tuna if I'm in a hurry.
Carbs: oatmeal, quinoa, banana
Fats: natural PB and flax oil
One of my favourite breakfasts (to the point that I actually think about it the night before and can't wait to wake up and have it) is no-fat natural yogurt, mixed berries, ON 100% choc whey, quick oats, flax oil and splenda!!
Another great breakfast is protein pancakes: egg whites, low-fat CC, quick oats, blueberries and a dash of milk and splenda. When they're done have them with either sugar free maple syrup or sugar free choc topping

I agree with you on the game meats- if I could afford to eat ostrich and venison daily, I'd be very happy....
