I'm not hitting the gym twice a day. I feel that I would overtrain. I do do cardio twice a day now. Once after my weight training and then again after work. Since I started the two a days my BF% has dropped much quicker.

i feel you, it also sucks when people know you are doing a contest and they say sh2t like "have you been practicing your POSING?" *giggles* "you going to shave your legs" *laughs* etc, stuff like that

sigh, it totally underminds the thing I am puring my life into and is my passion. it really sucks when it your friends that do it, it's not thier fault i guss, they just dont understand what its all about or the preperation/blood/sweat involved...

I do weights at the gym, go home, take a nap, then do cardio at home. Holly854 and I have a recumbent bike, an air bike cross-trainer, and a proform elliptical. We have weights and a Cross-bow here, but I rarely train here, the gym atmosphere motivates me more, especially when I see the real bodybuilders training, makes me want to work that much harder.

I do weight training in the afternoon and then cardio at night a few hours before bed. Not eating is a workout too - well I guess not so much anymore, I have gotten used to the low calorie intake now. This week I may need to drop the carbs by 50Grams if I want to make my monthly weight loss goal.

What about you?

Doing the work that I do, it's hard to get to the gym. I make the time, This contest has given me the motivation that I needed to get into shape. It's only been 10 weeks and I have changed so much that I don't even think that it's me in the morror. I respect all of those people who put forth the effort to do this challange. That alone in my book make's us all winners! I can only say for myself that I am doing everything that I can, with the help of a few of you, to transform my body. Then it will be up to the judges. As long as I know that I did my best, I will be fine with the results, whatever they may be. Thanks Todd for the motivation..........

Great job on the weight loss. Lots of new people are showing up now that the last month is getting close. Should make for an interesting ending.

I suppose you're supposed to post a message in this forum, eh, might as well to be safe. Lol. I definitely have a ton of respect for those who are entering this competition to better themselves and to develop an intrinsic source of motivation that'll transcend this competition and its subsequent rewards. For myself, Im a pre-med student who wants to become a future cardiologist and I got to a point, physically, that contradicts what I strive to become. I definitely saw this contest as the proverbial kick in the ass to find my motivation. Regardless of the outcome, I know my efforts to live healthy will be well worth it, and my motivation definitely transcends the monetary and supplement prizes. Good luck to all of you, and keep it up.

Some of the top guys from last year are in the mix too, like the Harvestworker guy who was fifth, he's doing it again, and don't forget the guys who looked tough in the beginning, who posted for a while but are probably now secretly getting ready to drop some bombs on us! Like, TheeForce, and MrNextInLine... remember he was preparing for a real show, like Animal is...

Welcome to the new posters, remember eventually everyone who wants to win will be posting their essays in here, it's not like last year where essays were posted in a separate blog!

Here's a flashback to last years winners for those of you who haven't seen it:

Not like there isn't good work put forth on a leg press. But the same thing? WTH!? Squats are way beyond a leg press especially when done properly. So many more muscle groups involved. To be perfectly honest, I hate squats. That's why I do them the most often of the leg exercises. If I hate them, I know they have to be a great challenge.

Great point IronCharles. I went back in time a few times to look at the old contestants. I think it will come down to Total Transformation "I hope". I mean if someone wins that was already pretty buff to begin with that would be fine with me but I hope they pick someone like us that started from nothing, from absolutely nothing to something.

Maybe they want someone that is visually sexy face wise too, maybe they want older, maybe they want younger. Lots to think about, EVERYONE has a chance to win - it will be tough but at least all of us come out of this with a great transformation.

Did you see nquinn922 transformation pic's? That was a transformation. If those pics are for real his transformation was by far the most impressive.

His are real but he was doing that for over a year I believe. I'm not even sure he was in the contest - he got honorable mentions for doing such a great job.

That makes sense. Hard to believe anyone can do that in 12 weeks.

I have had a very strong passion for the sport since I can remember but just never knew how to do it correctly until I found this site a few years ago. Lots of reading and learning how to diet and train. Now that I know how I'm putting the knowledge to the test. Like I said I have had a passion for the sport so doing it and training are the easy part. Winning will be the hard part because I'm not in control no matter how hard I push - the control is in the judges hands come the final day. With that said know that you have just as much a chance as anyone else in here. Stay strong.

Not sure - I have reserved my Carb depleting for the last month (April). I still take in 150grams of Carbs and still manage to lose weight. So what ever works for you works I guess - everyone's body is different.

I might be being paranoid. I am starting my one month early just in case I need to tweek a little. Hopefully I dont peak to early. My obliques and seratus anterior are showing and my intercostols are looking pretty OK. I want striations in my Tri's and am still not seeing it.

I have an immense passion for it as well, which makes me an overall oddity. As a kid I was a complete nerd, and looked like one as well. It's just sometimes one needs that outside motivation, that voice in your ear to remind you what you are doing, but that's all part of being human. We all want to feel like what we do matters in life and those around us acknowledge that. Know what I mean? As I said, pushing myself is not a problem, everyday I workout, I find myself outdoing the last recorded routine by lifting more than ever. I get sick pumps almost everyday and leave satisfied. It's not a question of lift, but rather purpose. Every man needs a purpose to justify what he does in life. I just haven't found mine yet...

I'm right there with ya on the leg workout.

My gym moved locations a couple of years back. Where it was previously it was difficult for me to take the stairs to the first floor after a leg workout. Very scary.

It is a dirty game that's for sure. You have your mind messing with you, then you have other contestants trying to play head games. It's a tough deal for sure. Nothing wrong with being ahead of schedule and cutting carbs early.

As far as looking in the mirror I don't do that unless at the gym and I keep my shirt on. I hate taking Pictures because I have high expectations of myself and always let myself down if I look. I just take a look at abs every now and then. I figure since the abs are full blown then everything else must be

For me it's being bigger and badder then the next person - maybe that will work for you - .. I work out at a college gym so I have the College Football Team to look better and be stronger than. Those guys are looking weak sauce compared to me and they do it for college. I get a kick out of that.

Todd,

Many bodybuilding videos/articles state that having an arch in your back while benching is okay but others say that your back should remain flat throughout the entire workout. Which gave you optimal gains?
