Army National Guard question(serious)
So I'm tryin to ask over at their forums but my account hasn't been activated yet. Any current or prior service members answer a quick question for me?
I'm in my senior year of college, with 4 more semesters left before I graduate with my masters in Accounting and take my CPA exam.
As far as I can tell from what my recruiter tells me my options are
A) Enlist with the OCS contract. I go to basic, then immediately thereafter OCS, get commissioned and then I go to my units and finish my school.
B) Enlist, go to basic, then apply for OCS after I graduate.
Here's my problem. Ideally I would like to take option A because of the guaranteed OCS slot. But, that means I have to miss one semester of school. I am in a VERY competitive accounting program here and don't want to miss a semester. I don't even know what their policy would be if I took a semester off whether I'd have to re-apply or what.
With the enlistment then application for OCS option I can go to boot in the summer, get my MOS, come back and get tuition assistance + GI bill + some nice kickers. Then once I graduate I apply for OCS.
But, I'm not guaranteed OCS, and I don't want to be stuck with a 8 year contract being enlisted when I have a f'n masters.
Now my recruiter tells me that I would have no problem getting the OCS slot if I applied... but... not saying the guy's a liar, but I recruiters have their own motives in mind. Any advice here?
