Depletion Workouts...Necessary?
So, I remember this argument from a long time ago, and I think I remember a lot of people saying that they dont do them, they're not beneficial for anything really...So im doing my 1st carb up tomorrow in 2 months (after coming out of a 4 month carb bulk, and I know 2 months is a while, just didnt feel the need, but im going to start doing them every 2 weeks for now on)...should I do a depletion workout?

depletion workouts do the normal job. using your glycogen stores.
you can drop those and wait longer to get into ketosis, or have a depletion workout and get faster into ketosis
your choice

Depletion workout is good, and imo necessary when cutting. Your body will utilize more calories to burn fats for energy, then the carbs. Just keep the Efa's up and carbs minimal (in the morning and PWO) you won't start to lose off the scale at first, but it will show up in inches around the waist.

Im talking about doing a Depletion workout before I carb up so my body "in theory" uses the carbs that day more efficiently filling up the glycogen stores n what not

but my theory would be that your body will convert protein/muscle to carbs just to use them on your depletion workout. Because you won't have enough carbs b4 filling in.

Well...Some say you should eat a piece of fruit before the depletion workout to fill up your Liver glycogen

Yes and no .. The more thought you put in it, the less effort the whole ordeal will take I guess, but yeah .. If you have a plan stick with it and stay with it without overthinking unless it goes somewhere you haven't planned.
Depletion before refeed, sounds about right. You only want to refill your glycogeen levels and if they are not really empty, what are you filling then!?
BUT .. you never really know exact how much you need to fill and that counts for empty or half emty. Its all guess work. So do what feels best!

Assuming that you start eating carb laden meals first thing in the morning of your carb day, I don't see how this would benefit, as you would already have no fats in your system from food, all your fats for energy would actually be coming from stored bodyfats anyway.
A depletion workout after a carb up however would quicker reduce glycogen stores......

Hey man! How was your progress without the carb up for 2 months. Im kinda thinking bout trying it. Im 2 weeks in and have quite a bit of fat to lose. How many inches/pounds did you lose in those 2 months? What weight did you start at? Thanks.
