He's the only one of the Mr. Olympia's that I don't have a signed pic of, except for Dexter... But, I hear ya I'm a big fan of his, as well...

I won't be doing another set until the end of this 12 weeks. I'm not gonna talk about it but I'll let the pics do my talking.
I've made a spread sheet so I can plug in what I'm eating and how many cals I'm taking in and so forth.
I'm going to hit up more cardio tonight and some ab work. It's time to get serious.
Keep in mind I've been bulking almost a year in these pictures and have gone from 180-185 to a highest of 235. I'm going to cut down and probably rebuild in efforts to grace the stage.
Any criticism is welcome.

Dont try and hop onto so much cardio now that come the end of the contest making adjustments will be tough, start out on the low end, and gradually ramp it up instead of ramping it full tilt right away big man. Gradually add when you hit sticking points, and then lower calories after cardio is raised.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm just getting it done now and keeping it mild. Did another 30 min of LISS while watching the MD/NC State game and then the OK/OK State game...

Intro:
Greetings to those that know me and those that don't...
I have been around the boards for a while and have done several logs here and there always keeping track of my progress. In fact, I always have a notebook with me that I have all my workouts, meals, supps, and just thoughts/comments from that general workout. It is a big collection of what has been working for me and what hasn't. Hell, I guess that is one of the major battles to win though. Knowing what works for you and what doesn't.
I played football throughout high school so I have always been introduced to the weights early. I lifted off and on throughout college...however I got lazy started gaining weight fast (got up to around 230s) but hey that's what late night parties, alcohol, and terrible eating habits will do. It was college though... Regardless I cut back down and thought I would be ok doing nothing and low and behold I was right back where I came from.
I have been lifting weights very seriously for the past two years. In December 2006 when I graduated undergrad, I weighed in at a whaling 280. I was disgusted with myself and wanted to make a change. That next day, I emptied out my fridge and started up on a clean cutting diet that I researched online. After being on the diet for 2 weeks, I started up at a local gym that New Years and haven't set the weights down since. In fact, I get upset if I miss either a workout or a meal. I truly believe I am one of the hardest working people in the gym. I have caught the bug so to speak and have been going hard at it ever since. I did a dirty bulk last fall which was disturbing and downright not the way for me. I cut all spring and got down to a very lean 188-189.
Since then I have been clean bulking and am very happy with the results thus far. My short term goal would be to finish this bulk at around 225-230 and then cut down to see what I have earned. I have recognized my weak points, my arms, my quads/hams, and my back. I have been busting ass to bring these areas up. I have also been working on increasing my bench, squat, and dead lifts as well. My current PRs on those three are 320 (Bench); 415 (Deads); 405x8 (Squats). I can't remember if I got more than that on squats or not, I may have gotten it 10, but it doesn't matter. I just want to progress and push myself beyond this.
I will be posting whatever I think is relevant to me achieving these goals from my workouts, my thoughts, my diet, my supps, what I think is working, what I don't think is working and so forth.
I hope you all enjoy the ride.
DESIRE DETERMINES DESTINY.
This is a great post!
I am brand new and have lifted on and off through the years but never left begginer/novice state.
One time about 10yrs ago... I was only able to do 9 push-ups before failure.
4mos later I had worked up to 1000 push ups every other day. This took me 3hrs a session.
I like in your post you referred to catching the bug and never looking back.
That is what happened to me 2 weeks ago and I am almost scared to take a rest day...for fear that I will fall off!!!

stay in touch.
Thanks for checking in here. I am glad to hear you have decided to keep at it. Keep going strong and if you have any questions I'm always here for ya.
Catching that bug was the best thing to happen to me in a LONG time. The gym helps provide me with so much balance and control of every aspect of my life. It really is essential.
Don't fear an off day though--they are very beneficial. I look forward to hearing more about your progress and just wanted to say CONGRATS for catching the bug.

*...Wake plays a little later today... I have to work a little later today... and I'm going out of town for the weekend... simply put I'll be sending a lot of the day cooking and preparing my food for the day/weekend...I'm also taking two others photos for the contest to show more symmetry and so forth.
I was the only one in the gym this morning...just how I like it...*
... 12 weeks ... Performed in: ~54 minutes
Sets x Reps (Weight)
Pre Workout: Sludge (I've become accustomed to it)
Incline Bench: 4x6-12 (Pyramid up on the weight, did a triple drop on the last set till I couldn't do any more)
HS Chest Machine: 3x10-12 ...did a triple drop on the last set till failure
Dips: *leaning forward* 3xFailure
Flat Bench Flys: 4x10 ... heavy for 3 sets, last set I dropped the weight and did Ferrigno twists at the end to emphasize the squeeze/contraction
Seated Calf Raises: 3x20 ...held contractions for a thousand count, last rep of each set was held for as long as I could *SUPERSET* Decline Situps: 3x15-20 ...last set I did these with a 35 lb plate
Crunch Machine: 1 set down the middle; 1 set to the left; 1 set to the right
*Popped some Nitro before cardio*
Cardio: 30 min LISS on dreadmill
Sauna: ~15 min
Thoughts
-Another great day in there. I was focused and flexed my chest inbetween sets... get that blood in there.
-I'm literally making 12 meals to last me Saturday and Sunday. I don't want to take chances... so I'll be bringing a big ass cooler with me on the road.
-I've been drinking A TON of water. I know I usually drink a lot anyway but lately its been going down very easy.
-Wrapping up the first week... gotta stay strong. Things will get interesting for the next while as I'll be balancing school into the equation.
-Have a great weekend everyone.
Nice day B. I go the same time every day to my gym and I'm the only one there, well besides a few 70+ guys lol. Enjoy your weekend and keep the diet going strong.

THE WILL TO WIN IS NOTHING WITHOUT THE WILL TO PREPARE.
Lower your protein and up your carbs, 320 is a bit excessive, and you could spare around 260-275 tops for now and slowly break it down a bit more. Give your body some energy because your already hitting over 1.5g / lb
Good work, and the only crazy mofo in the gym is the way to roll. Working out in the AM has its advantages for sure.

Thanks A. I love having the gym to myself. Have a great weekend as well and I'm halfway done cooking up everything right now. I won't be slipping.

Thanks for the suggestion Bob. 1.5 g / lb would be 330 so I'm not exactly there yet. I'll try increasing slightly the carbs and playing around with it as I see my body responding. In the past I've operated pretty smoothly on high protein/low carb.
I'll be hitting the gym bright and early Monday and resting up all weekend. Have a good weekend Bob.
