I have been watching the webcasts of the Arnold and I hope to be able to go watch one day. I thought I would post in this old thread because I have a recurrent and un-answered question.......why do bodybuilding shows have such low production value?
I went to this year's IronMan in L.A. The production was horrible. Horrible! I am hesitant to be over critical but hey I spent my money on a ticket so that gives me a right to an opinion right?
The glittery background is a bad contrast, the lights were not flattering to the physiques, the seating was bad, the announcing was below average. There was a point in the show where Corey Everson is calling for Lonnie that was like nails on a chalk board. Then they proceeded to talk over Arnold's video while it was still playing. Either turn the video off or have the announcer shut up. Why do they not bring in bleachers? White chairs at floor level doesnt cut it.
We had the pleasure of listening to Jay Cutler speak on stage during a little presentation at the expo and he even took questions from the audience. Great idea! However here is the number 2 BB in the world speaking and some idiot on the master intercom is announcing a hot dog sale or something stupid like that. THEN the next event started setting up right in front of Jay and literally crowded him off stage. I would have been pissed. Everyone that was sitting there listening to Jay speak would rather have there questions answered and see some posing than have the stupid lifting competition on schedule.
Oh well, I started this rant because the Arnold looks awesome! Maybe that show should be the Superbowl of the sport because the production of Mr. O by comparison is amateur style
