I think it's a case of simply being a different point of view than you'd find on this site. Nothing more, nothing less. What's funny, is that women who work out will probably chime in that the woman in the article is "wrong".
It's no different from asking men if they prefer thin, medium, muscular, or pleasingly plump type women; there's a desire for all categories. It's really as simple as that.

However, I would say that the vast majority of women would tend to find too much muscle unattractive, though maybe not to the extent of too much fat. I have found this repeatedly to be the case over various *ahem* clinical trials I've personally conducted over the years...
Things like that I view with more idle curiosity, as I do this **** for me, not for anyone else and certainly not to try to get the play of random female X...

one time my wife said to me "I don't want you to end up looking like a bodybuilder on steroids"... I replied "my goal is not to turn my body into what you think it should look like"..
actually I don't want to look like a bodybuilder on steroids either.. of course for that to happen, I would have to take steroids..

I guess this would really matter if I gave two ****s about what other women or people think about me.
Seriously though. If what I look like is the first thing that matters to a woman then I wouldn't want to be with her anyways.

hate generalisations, I am sure women like a variety of men, just like us guys like different women. Maybe when I was younger I did this to impress people, but Now it for purely selfish reasons- me

First lady: Oh my! You look so cheeeesy, mister!
Second lady: Hush, Helga! You'd let him walk you across the street, wouldn't you?
First lady: Well, I suppose.... would you like to come home with me for a nice bowl of soup, sonny?

If you ask an average or unfit woman then they'll want an average men. She's not going to go for someone much better looking/healthier than her! KWIM? Most people are ignorant when it comes to muscles so they're reaction is always going to be negative.
This guy probably wrote the article to mask his feelings of inferiority when it comes to muscles.
If he were to ask me? Muscles? bring them on! They're the sexiest thing on earth! I love men that take care of their bodies in & out. I want my men to look like a men and not like a pretty boy.

Yeah, I can tell they hate muscles by all the ladies that talk to me at the Fitness Center while I am working out. But alas I am married and so it doesn't matter anyway. I only have to keep the wife happy

Yes, they must hate bigger muscles LOL I'll toot my own horn and say that i have avitars and am solicited by ladies who had no interest in me in the past, ladies i never knew,etc... contact me and want to be "friends"
Had the above average (190lb) GQ body for quite some time and yes it worked for the ladies, however if i were not undressed,or in beach attire i looked like a bonerack and got the comments to put some weight on LOL
I can pull off GQ quite well at my current size and have a look at Arnold in a suit and tell me he does not look GQ.

"muscle guys are so gross"
thats why they are beating girls of them the whole time while small betas get not even a look.

I am doing this for myself, not the ladies. If I get big, that's my problem. Who cares what they think.
Most ladies my age (other than the minority that exercises) are a pretty sad rendering of the human form.
Most younger girls that look attractive (just because of genetics - not fitness), are too immature to handle or entertain an older guy.
So there have been a lot of articles about women, beauty and what men find attractive in the female... maybe men are due. A few dumb articles won't hurt anyone's feelings here.

because they are either funny and fairly attractive and most importantly they are unobtainable. It's obvious that women don't require attractiveness in a mate, one trip through any mall will attest to that.

Well.....
Ya, I think it's pretty much accurate. Yet, the average gal is fat and keeps herself unattractive, so who cars what she wants or thinks. Let her have wet dreams of Brad Pitt.
Mean while I'll keep putting on as much as possible telling the woman that hit on this old man almost daily the same thing. "I'm taken babe! Sorry....."

I would think that it all depends on the individual woman, same as different men have different ideas of how they like to see a woman. I have a friend who's girlfriend likes guys with big fat beer guts and ride harleys, which is exactly him. When he says he is going to lose some weight, she cracks it big time. Of course he knows full well that he has no intentions of losing weight cause that would mean giving up the beer. Horses for courses I guess.

when I was "average" meaning not much muscle and overweight. I didnt get a second glance.
Now women (who used to not even look my way) will sometimes openly flirt with me. The only thing to change is more muscle and less fat.
I guess keeping things in balance is the key, fortunately you cant look like an ifbb pro by accident (except for BH's flooring guy LOL) so I am safe

There's also the aspect that when you look good, you feel good about yourself as well, and that self confidence is a tangible thing that women are very keen to notice. They notice when you carry yourself with pride.... subtly... not strutting..... and that is an attractor in itself.
