NASM certification test

I'm getting ready to take my nasm certification exam and I have 2 questions.
I know you have to be CPR/AED certified, but it doesn't say if it is for adult, or adult and child. Does anyone know?

And is the exam basically the same as the practice exam online? If it is, I'm not worried, if it's not, I want to be ready to be blindsided haha.

Edit: just kidding, i looked at the front of the certification handbook and it says "adult cpr and aed certification" so nevermind on that first question!

From what I heard it is NOT like the practice exam online that the best resources are the book, study guide and workshop.

klipsch is on a distinguished road. (+10)
What was discussed in the workshop regarding the exam is key. The instructors probably pointed out exactly what type of questions you could expect and to be prepared for. Wish I could help you more, but from what I've heard, the exam is different (easier) then when I took it several years back.

Best of luck!

I finished up my BS in Sports Medicine back in 2003 (magna cum laude--not bragging, just for credibility), and I don't ever remember hearing of NASM.

The two certifications that I remember that were a big deal were ACSM and NCSA. If you have the $$, I'd go for one of those.

Good luck, though!

the real test wasn't anything like the practice exam. it had a lot of the same material, but the questions are worded a lot differently. it won't be too bad though if you are fairly comfortable with the material.

hey quick question, I just signed up for this cert. today and was wondering how long you've been studying it for, and if you had any background experiences. I only have a BA in Biology (main focus was on biomechanics and the like) and was wondering if that would give me some familiarity with the material NASM provides.

the exam is the same format, but its different, if you know the material you'll be fine.

Smile I just took the NASM TEST

The test was pretty easy and I don't have a science background, I would focus on page 169 which is the chart for the movement assessment and know the acute variables. If you pretty much follow the study guide that is available on NASM website and have a good understanding of what you are studying then passing the test should be a breeze.
