$$ Tips of saving money and cutting costs $$
Let's make a thread full of ideas. Lets not have this turn into a typical misc thread full of arguing and bitching. It's time the misc had a informative thread filled with great ideas and lord knows we could use this right now. My goal is to accumulate $60,000 to put down on a $100,000 condo in Texas within 2 years. A buck here and then helps alot. If you have any great online ideas of making and saving money, feel free to PM me. Ruin my thread and be prepared to be negged for life.
I've been taking my lunch rather than eating fast food during the work week. I've been saving $30+ a week doing this. I also work out in the hot sun. Rather than getting Powerades at the gas station at $1.60+ a pop, I buy them at walmart for 60 cents each.
Every day I empty my pockets of whatever change I have into a bucket. When the bucket is full I deposit it into savings.
My car calls for premium, but I run low octane in it.
Go on misc...

Yeah, there was a thread like this.
Anyway here are some of mine:
Packing your own lunch to work and cooking your own food at home instead of going out to eat is one of the most effective things at saving money.
If you like to watch movies, wait for them to go on DVD since movies don't last in theatres that long anymore. The studios know the strong market of DVDs so they're more willing to rush the transition. And if you watch a lot of movies, don't waste your money at places like Blockbuster. Their prices are ridiculous. Get something like Netflix instead. Or better yet, use Redbox.

invite friends round for drinks before going out.. They will bring their own booze and most likely plenty of leftovers will be left for you when theyve gone!!

As soon as you get paid make a budget. Write down where every dollar is going. Give yourself a maximum for food, gas, utilities, etc. As long as you can stay disciplined and not go over what you allot (sp) yourself every pay period, you will be amazed at how much more money you are able to save.
If that didn't make any sense and/or you want to learn a bunch of great strategies to save money, check out this book...
http://www.daveramsey.com/shop/The_T...er_P123C48.cfm
(Just go into Barnes & Noble with a notebook and a pen, sit down, read, and take notes from it... you are trying to save money afterall.)

Rockefeller used to do this: bring a pad and pen with you everywhere and write down everything you spend money on. Everything right down to a pack of gum. Then at the end of the day you can see where your money gets away from you, and work out where you can cut costs.

Get a car that's gas efficient, fuk a v8 ford gt, get yourself a nice 4 cylinder car.
DO NOT go to clubs/bars and make it a goal to get drunk
Choose place that offer the same or more amount of food than other restaurants. Example...
PF Changs - $6-$8 you get like 2 pounds of rice lol they give you so much u can eat ut 2-3 different times.
Kona Grill - Give you enough food to keep a hamster starving and its still expensive $15-$30 easily.
If you plan to have fun with your friends get together, play sports, bbq, and drink. Dont drive 40 miles to some club and waste all your money
PM me for for stuff I gotta o pick up my camera from the store.

And will also stunt the economy and thus harm the nation.
In fact, going back to what people were doing last year will help. The only real change needs to be on the use of public transport or finding an alternative to the car.
Like, I now go shopping and carry the stuff back. :-)

bump-
look for sales on clothing. I like "nicer" more expensive brands of clothing but I only get it if I can find reasonable sales on it and I try to get classic clothing that will not be out of style the next year.
only buy electronics that you are for certain you are going to get alot of use out of. Rent instead of buying. Most dvds are going to do nothing but collect dust after being watched a few times if that. Rent for 7-8 bucks instead of buying for 20-25.
Never buy Cd's unless its an artist you absolutely love/respect. 95% of the time just look up the track listing and d/l it illegally and make a CD. (did I say that)
Prioritize your time and handle multiple errands in one trip. Pick up the groceries on the way home from work instead making a seperate trip for it etc. This saves you tons of gas.
Never buy sodas/candy out of vending machines. Instead buy the drinks, snacks you like at grocery stores in packages.
Remeber just because you have it doesnt mean you should spend it. At one point in my life if I had a really large sum of money in my account oddly I almost felt obligated to spend on something. It almost felt strange to "save up too much money". I'm not saying be a tight ass - dont, but dont be afraid of building up/ having alot of money either.

saving money
I carry my lunch and carry my own snacks. I eat lots of yogurt so I but the large containers .It runs around 2.25 and I add my own frozen fruit and granola. I have been keeping just milk eggs and yogurt in fridge. I been eating with other family members to help them off set grocery cost. So less food is given to the garbage man . I do take my turn in helping with grocery and help with the cooking,
Been shopping at the off brand grocery stores when ever possible.

Save Coin
Always shop around on net for supplements and when you find the best deal ring the store with the second best deal and tell them to beat it by atleast 10% and you will shop through them, always order over the phone as you cannot ask a computer to beat a price, get as many of your friends to order through you as possible as this will cut you out of delivery charges and the more you order you can get a better deal, also if you get it say 20dollars cheaper than advertised then charge your friends $10 more than what you paid for it, that way they still get it $10 cheeper than they would have and you make some coin to go towards your supplements... after all your the one doing all the running around so you gotta make something out of it!

- Drink tap water (may save some people $1000 in one year)
- Get rid of cable (TV sucks anyway) ($500/year)
- Stop drinking and smoking (who can tell how much?)
- Eat at GF's/friends'/relatives' house
