Ahhhh it feels good to be back at the gym. Although I didnt get as much as I wanted done, I could tell my body was still recovering from the race and I didn't want to push it. I ended up doing my arm workout but with just 1.5 mile run. I heard this guy talking to his friend and said "Man, look at how much that chick is lifting..." as I was doing my curls and my shrugs. That to me is the biggest motivator :-D Guys don't expect a chick to walk up and grab 2 50s.

Thanks nhhack for the input. I was afraid the CellMass would be counterproductive to losing weight but I might give it alittle more time to see if I can still lose weight with it. I've only been taking it about a week. I do lift hard and try to go heavy but I'm going to start going lighter with higher reps next week. I want to speed up fat loss if I can.

Stuffed myself with ahi tuna. I didn't even know I liked the stuff until a couple months ago. At least I can think of one healthy food that I can crave and indulge on!!

Gotta get it together though; thinking I will hit the gym after work. At least that is a step in the right direction, right?
Also... always had the plan to get certified as a PT. Figured I could study for it while I worked on my body (cuz no one wants to be trained by someone who is fat!). Thinking about maybe ordering the study materials to motivate me along the way/keep me on course with my goals. Would be attending a hands-on workshop the last weekend of May and it would be nice to lose some fat by then.
I dunno. What do ya think? It's for the NASM...

Well Chef did you get motivated?

Carb Cycling / Calorie Drop
My rmr is 2150, I've dropped to 1650 and am cycling carbs as well as adding 30 mins of cardio in the am and pm in addition to my usual lifting . I've had CRUSHING headaches for the past 2 days and have got "brain fog"
Anyone else experience this? Should I up my calories and just cycle carbs? Should I just drop my cals?

Ya thats the best idea to see how you are doing with it for a few weeks and if your not getting the weight loss your looking for get off it.....Its not a bad thing to gain muscle and not "loose weight". You are getting rid of the fat and gaining muscle which weighs more. Some weeks if you workout harder your weight might not change a whole lot.
just my 2 cents

Moreover, you should really take classes with these people. Being around people with bodies you admire is really motivating. All my friends are really strong athletes because of climbing and whatever else. I don't want to be the biggest friend (which I am), and my friends all do active things for fun - mountain biking, climbing, hiking, running, road biking - it is very, very motivating.

Try doing it earlier. Far-off deadlines aren't super motivating. It's more like, "surprise, here you are." I always set some far-off deadline and never make it. Think week to week. "Hey, I made it!" Hooray!

I feel like I'm getting into the groove lately! Today I did 40 min of cardio and ate clean all day. Got three different comments from random coworkers about looking thinner!

Greattttt day today. Ketosis diet is nothing. I've enjoyed 6 eggs, 2 (about to be 3) protein shakes, salmon, brocolli, grilled chicken, and all natural peanut butter. Who said dieting has to suck? Well, not being able to eat break does suck, but whatever, it will be worth it.
As for excercise, I had an awesome chest workout today, then did 30 minutes of cardio on the stationary bike. Then I thought to myself, why not go out and ride a real bike? So I went and rode 4 miles on the trails in town. Going to do a lot more tomorrow. I'm really enjoying this right now. Hope everyone else is too.
And Chef-K, its time to get your act together. 3 days in and not motivated? Come on, you know you can do better than that. Don't let us down, and even more important, don't let yourself down. Do you want to be one of the only ones at the end of this 12 weeks that is going to have to say "i didn't accomplish anything"? I know I don't want to be that person, and I wouldn't think you want to be either. Get to it!

What kind of diet are you trying to run?
And sorry you have to deal with the walmart protein. I tried it once and couldn't get it down. Get some Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey. Tastes wonderful and is cheap as dirt.

Well i do plan on eating a little more tonight (small pre workout, then maybe a shake post workout)
my maintenence is like 2700 i think, i have been under for a while but havent seen much change. i think im gonna bump it down like i did today for a while and see how it goes.
maybe the fact that i work out at midnight has something to do with it. cuz before that, i usually sit around and do nothing or go out to work or to the mall.
idk, i got time to figure it out.
but on a good note, i have been getting sore from my workouts! this hasnt happened in six weeks!

Damn Girl Scout Cookies
So, I told you guys I had the challenge of girl scout cookies to contend with today. I failed.
When I was a kid, I was a girl scout. Not for long, but I was. We grew crystals on charcoal and made yarn dolls. I felt like everyone hated me. They probably did. Jaime and I went to Girl Scout camp and i remember only doing chores and the toilets not working. So, basically, I hated Girl Scouts.
And then it was cookie season.
While most girls were probably all, "Wee!! Cookies are awesome and everyone want them!" I was like, "Please, God, just buy some so I can walk away from this."
I am NOT into cold-calling, especially door-to-door. I used to be really shy. I'm not sure what the cookie sales did to develop me as a person: taught me to beg people to buy something they might not have wanted? To try to be as cute as possible for guilty purchasing? Is that it? Manipulation? Was it learning about money handling and customer service (because I don't know about you, but I love making out checks and not getting anything for months)?
I'll tell you what I did learn: I HEART Caramel Delites. Only, they changed it to "Samoas." But, I guess, upon research, they were Samoas before that.
What's a Samoa? Well, it's an independent state in the archipelago of the South Pacific. ANd yet somehow, this also translates to a delightful cookie bottomed in chocolate, topped with coconut and caramel, and drizzled, again, in chocolate. They are so related.
Anyway, as I write this, I have about seven in my stomach right now. Two of them are 140 calories. So, you know that whole weightloss challenge I committed to last week? Yeah, badness.
And that, effin' Girl Scouts, is why I hate you.
I don't WANT seven Samoas in my stomach right now. My STOMACH doesn't want that in with the lean chicken and plain cooked vegetables I had for dinner. You are unholy and wrong.
And yet, you only show up occasionally. And your relative rarity makes me want you, so bad. And thus, I must consume you this week. If only to say I did. If only to sate my desires for you. Evil, evil Girl Scout cookies. Fie upon you.
And it's not over, you realize. It's Easter season and Cadbury Mini Eggs are on sale. Oh, the humanity.

If your key goal is fat loss, I would not recommend the CellMass. CellMass is great if you are trying to put on muscle alone. I used CellMass at the same time as NoExplode and I would get great pumps at the gym and my lift numbers would swell with my muscles, but 1 thing it DID NOT do was aid in weight loss. If anything, I was retaining more water due to the massive amounts you're supposed to drink and the nature of creatine. Also, when I stopped using the CellMass, I lost a lot of the strength I had while on it and got kind of mushy afterwards. If you do choose to use the CellMass I would suggest using low rep sets with heavier weights to help build muscle.
If your goal is to lose weight and still gain muscle, I would say to just eat the right food and if you need to take anything, take whey protein.

Try not to keep using that as an excuse though. If you do, you'll never get on track. Soon 3 months will turn to two, and that will turn to one, and then the 3 months will be up and you won't have anything accomplished.
But one mess up wont kill you. And yeah, Easter is going to blow...I <3 easter candy.

Had a challenge today. I had a work luncheon at Morton's Steak House....
Started salad topped with apple, walnuts, feta, and vinagrette...was OK
main course ....choice of Filet Mignot (my favorite), glazed chicken (glaze was probably sugary), or Salmon.... I settled on the Salmon, although Filet at world famous Morton's was a once in a lifetime opportunity (at $65...I would never buy it)
Side dishes...1 pound loaded baked potato (I swear I asked the waiter, and he said they won't serve them smalled than 1lb)...and Asparagus spears. You will be proud to hear I skipped the potato completely and ate 4 asparagus spears.
Then they served dessert...Everyone goy 3 items, Cheesecake, chocolate mouse, and a chocolate cup filled with whipped cream and rasberries...I gave my dessert away..
It sucked, I would have normally dug into everything there, but I was actually able to willpower though the healthiest way.
Still I felt guilty, so I punished myself with 20 minutes of intervals on a treadmill, followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical.
