Sounds like dude got what he deserved. Bullying somebody can have a severe negative mental psychological effect on a kid. OP needed closure and he gave the dude a chance to redeem himself, respectfully. Sounds like the guy didn't have enough respect to apologize or justify it. Sounds like he didn't change since 7th grade. He probably still bullies people everday and his girlfriend was probably in awe of how "tough" he was.
In the end Karma is a bitch.
You are lucky he didn't press charges though.

Get a buddy to help you out, actually two...... one to hold a punching bag and the other to video you giving the bag a flying kick.
Make sure that all three of you are holding spoons or a massive neg train will follow.
