Question Tennis elbow, exercises to avoid???

I think I may potentially have tennis elbow. I get a dull pain in my elbow when I do anything like presses or pushups.. anything really where my elbow is supporting weight. What exercises do you guys think I can and can't do? Reps.

No skullcrushers. Probably no dips. You'll have to see what hurts and what doesn't. Probably a good idea to take a few weeks off and see if it improves. If you insist on working out try doing less weight/more reps on anything that stresses your elbows.

I am definitely taking a week or two off of upperbody exercises and I guess i'll see how the elbow's feeling after that. I'll continue doing legs and abs and maybe some dumbbell curls too as those don't seem to hurt.. as long as they continue not to give me any grief.

After that I may try some flyes and just things that don't put as much strain on the elbows I guess. Hopefully it'll heal pretty quick.

Thanks for the post man, repped.

Hi Stonevenom,
Me too. I took a few days off my usual lifting pattern to let it rest, then did one upper body workout last week focusing more on compound exercises. I avoided any bicep/tricep work. My elbow felt a bit better-then we had a heck of a snow storm, and the shoveling seems to have aggravated it.

I also ordered a pair of lifting gloves, to take some of the stress off of my hand. I've read a bit on the net, and some of us older lifters have found improvement in tendonitis after starting with the use of gloves.

I ordered a pair of gloves called newgrips-that are neoprene rather than leather based.

I am icing, and perhaps skipping any upper body work this week altogether to give it a chance to rest and heal. I'm not happy about it-but don't want to do any long term damage that will take even longer to recover from. I'm no spring chicken and don't want to push my luck.
