Jason,
Sorry for your loss. Keep your head up and keep up the battle through the ups and downs that life bring to us. I hope that you and your wife can work things out and be back together to bring this episode in life to a happy ending.
Take care, I'm proud of you and you are a true Hero. Keep making us proud!

Thank you so much!!!
I cannot even begin to say how grateful I am that everybody has been so encouraging. I never expected to get that type of response but I thank you all, especially the ones that took the time to write and give condolences or encouragement. This is truly a contest I will never forget and it is not because of the transformation I will make but because of the friendships I have made. You guys rock and I will forever be grateful for the support I have been receiving.

What's up everybody,
So now that we're about 8 weeks into the competition, some people may be starting to burn out a bit and be looking to try a new routine to change things up. Check out this video of Melvin Anthony training chest for some extra motivation and a new training technique.
Keep training hard!

Bench Press
I have a great article on Increasing your bench press. It is called Bench 600lbs.
It is a five page word document so I cant post it here but I can email copies to interested parties. It has some cool stuff in it that is a little unconventional for bodybuilders but for me just the change in form gave me a 20 lbs jump in one workout.

I am going skiing this weekend. I am excited but at the same time worried. My wife and I will be going with two other couples so it will be difficult to go to a gym (if they even have one in town.) I am taking my wife's bands to excercise with, maybe I won't fall too far, I have worked too hard. You guys are an inspiration and I look forward to reading your comments daily. I just hope I don't get hurt at this point. Wish me luck. Thanks, Ruben.

You can get a lot done with a few bands, but a little rest from the gym won't kill you. I'd be more worried about what you'll be eating. I remember last summer I had to be away for the weekend and when I packed my bag, the first thing to go in was my container of protein... sure I looked like a goof ball to everyone when I unpacked, but my muscles thanked me! :P

Today's workout
Had a killer leg day today. It amazes me, before all this started, I would always be excited for back day. Now I am excited for every single day in the gym, especially leg day. I have been trying to figure out what I can do on the leg press, but I have yet to peak. Today I did 24 plates + 2 tens to be at 1100, not including the sled's starter weight. I did it 8 times without any issues.
Hope all is going well with everyone.

I hate when you discuss with people (especially at work) about lifting and everyone throws around insane and ludicrous numbers. I'm more the type of person who is honest all around, and most of all, honest of self. If I claim to lift x-amount of weight, then I did, without a doubt. To lie about it would go against what I stand for: "actions speak louder than words..."
However, thanks for the heads up. I'm almost getting there! I pressed 160 this morning 8 times. In a few weeks I know I'll make it, I know I can. If I can leg press 610 and shoulder shrug my own weight, nothing is outside my reach. Only determination and patience will tell!

Man--that's out of my league. My little chicken legs quiver at just 6 or 8 plates.

I'm starting to run out of room with the leg press at my gym... if only they had 100pd plates rather than just 45pds, but then again, it'd be the only one crazy enough to use them! :P

I hope everyone is doing amazing
Hope everything is great for all the competitors!
Remember...I started late in the contest last year......I was two weeks away from the end at my 60 day mark! I'm not saying this to brag, just letting you know that if you are not pushing yourself hard enough, your gonna fall behind!
I'm guessing ...no I'm sure ...there are at least 3 or 4 people that have not posted progress pictures or been on the board posting a 1 lb loss.... that are so far ahead of you.....so freaking close to being ripped already....or maybe already ripped! I'm telling you all.........You better turn it up now!!!!!!!!
I've been doing this contest too! I fattened up in Dec and started in mid Jan.......Seriously my progress is mind bending! Using what I learned last time without making any mistakes.....HOLY ****! I know I can't win, but I seriously think I'm blowing away last years pics of me by 100%. I will post my afters with the rest of you and your jaws are going to drop! I will be more ripped than last year by a huge amount!
There are a few people like me this year that I know are going to place in the top 4 no matter what! There are some people that want it sooooooo bad they are going to train harder than the rest.....longer than the rest......smarter than the rest!
ARE YOU IN MY TOP 4............IS IT YOU THAT WANTS THIS THAT BAD?????
PROVE IT>>>>>>>>>> Now is the time to dig deep and ask yourself....AM I going to win this....or get second??????? Is it you!
Screw all the good jobs and pats on the back.....screw the excuses.....this is not therapy.....its a contest!
You better listen to what I'm saying.......You better turn it up now!
NOW.....the finish is closer than you think!
Good luck to all!

Alex this is just my believe,
1st everyone has different strength in different Muscle parts,
I'm very strong on ABS and Arms, Others chest, Others legs,
numbers have no meaning I feel, cause I LOL when people clame
high numbers and then I say, ok I do 3 sets of ..... and they come
back and say oh no I only ment 4-5 times, but the bottom line is
this contest as an example is about "Transformation" not
"How much can I lift" or "Transfer weight" LOL
I watch a lot of people in the GYM style, man lets not even talk about that.
I think you are all doing Awsome, and I respect you all
talk about that LOL

Hi guys - 58 day progress update. No big change - little smaller on the waist but I think I will add weighted sit ups to define the core (need abs). I'm not to happy but I'm not angry. First day is at 227.7 pounds - Update #2 is 215 - Update #3 is 206.

Not to Happy? You should be waking up every morning with a smile on your face!! Your making great progress!! Look at those pics again and look at what you have done in 2 months. If you can keep that up for another 2 you will be shredded and looking great(non homo way)..
Those pics just motivated me to where i don't think i can afford to take an off day tomorrow which i was considering on doing.
Keep up the goodwork!

Transmigration, looking good, man! Arms are getting swole, and the lats are coming in!
Todd, thanks for the kick in the ass.... I know a lot of guys and gals are putting in serious work! We need to keep putting the whip to it!
I'm down to 17 percent BF now, from 20+, and have gained 5 pounds. Time to start switching from straight bulking, to getting shredded!

I think you've done well. The waist is looking smaller, and the weight figures make it clear that you are working at it. Sure, intensify your ab workouts, but remember that it's not crunches that will give you a 6-pac to see--it's nutrition.

I hardly do any arm isolation work, maybe 5 sets for bis and 5 for tris, but I do about 5x extensions 5 x ham curls 5x leg press 5x adductors 5x squats and 5x seated calf 5x standing calf all to failure and my legs grow slow. Finally seeing some separations in the quads and my calves are growing pretty well. I'm running Cryotest, seems to be helping a lot!
I'm looking forward to burning up the visceral fat under my abs, I've got decent abs, they are just being pushed out by the abdominal fat. I guess I will need to get closer to single digit BF for that stuff to start getting burned. But I'm ready, baby! Ripped and shredded by May!

How long is this contest suppose to be???
So serious question. I have e-mailed bb.com many times and did not get a solid answer.
Is this contest 12 weeks long starting from your before picture? or did it start from 1/1/09 to 5/7/09??? Anyone have a reliable answer? I read the rules and it just says very vague that it has to be at least 12 weeks long.

Its not vague at all..... " at least 12 weeks long " means can be more if within contest dates, but must be at least 12 weeks period from before and after dates in pictures with paper.

I think you are all doing Awsome, and I respect you all

I meant no disrespect to anyone here. My comment was more toward people that I know and those at work, who are out of shape or go to a gym to make them feel better for having eaten three burgers that day, but still find it necessary to brag. Looking back, I think I may have been half-asleep when I wrote my comment; it's too vague and could easily be taken in any direction. However, that being said, I agree with you completely. My strength seems to be attached to my legs, as my father was before me. Heck, a 1100pds sounds like a sizable goal for the leg press...

Although it's a contest, I gotta say I haven't thought of the money even once. Knowing that I have destroyed several mental barriers with the weights has been satisfying on its own. The prize is kinda an after thought to what I've accomplished thus in 27 days....
P.S. To IronCharles: Awesome progress pics!
