XBOX 360 troubles
so like a month ago i got one red light and error code e74.
i went to xbox site it had everything about all the other codes and e74 told me to talk to xbox customer support. which told me to go to microsoft customer support. and it said i have no warranty. which i dont believe because my warranty would run out at end or start of a new year but it said i ran out in like summer
anywhoo i dont want to have to pay for stuff. and it sais 5 year extended warranty on the red ring of death
so plan:
3 red rings is caused by over heating and melts the soulder yes?
i can still turn mines on. i rap it up blah blah blah and let it over heat
makes 3 rings of death
i get it fixed for free
will it work? or can i fix e74?

The warranty is covered for the original Xbox 360's with the failing heatsink. Not the newer ones.
For a fix, Leave it unplugged for 10 minutes or so. That fixed mine.

It might work. I got the e74 and they wanted to charge me $100 because that RROD wasn't covered in the warrenty. I got pissed at having to pay $100 to fix it so i went and spent $350 on an Elite. I'll show those bastards who's boss....

that is actually what i did when i got that cause I would of had to pay but then I wrapped my box in a towel and let it over heat so it got the 3 red rings and then I sent it in and got it fixed for free son

take the hard drive out first lol. and make sure there are no games in disk tray.

Had the same problem, I took my xbox apart. Heatsc, fan, board. Took out the X clamps, put in zinc bolts instead, popped some artic silver 5 compound on the CPU/GPU (current compound microsoft uses sucks) put it back together and voila!
For sure fix, you will never see the ring of death again. Check out redringofdeathfix.com I think was the sight.

my xbox just got rrod for the 1st time now im definitely buying a ps3 for when my xbox breaks every year, u should do the same
