Wink Desperate PT Help

Hey all,

I've been working out most of my life (I'm only 23) but still. I love it every second I'm there and talk about how great I feel for hours after. I've finally decided to take on a challenge and go for Personal Training.

I know the main certs are ACE, NASM, ACSM, and NSCA....

Now here's the deal....I know a lot about lifting weights and routines but as far as a background and sciences of it I'm raw......nada. Now I'm not looking for the easy way out as I will continue to take on other certs and keep challenging myself but "I WANT IN NOW"....... Out of the above 4 cert exams which if i studied a good amount for about a month a long with diagnostic exams and manuals could I pass???

If anyone has suggestions, tips, and any other helpful information I'm very open and appreciative. NOTE- the facility I'm looking to train in is Gold's Gym (Have a good in)

PT Certifications

you can look into ISSA that is the one that i completed.
none of the certifications are that easy and if you are that dedicated to becoming a personal trainer you have to pay the price. I too have been working out for almost 13 years now and finally decided to get my certification.
there is no better feeling knowing that you completed something that you love all on your own and that you worked hard for.

I'm LITERALLY in the same boat as you, I'm 20 (21 in less than 2 weeks!) and in college for Economics/Finance but I've loved working out all my life. I'm currently on the ACE program and have nothing but good to say about it. Its very efficient and wel planned out, and they do a good job in helping you review and apply the info they teach you to situations you'll face in real life. I did it through their website, and got the $350 package and would recommend it-its the noral package + a book on muscle anatomy and movement and it's a great guid to have even if you don't directly study it for the test, i has info that'll help you in the future about each muscle and bone and whatnot.

Its set up in a 12 week/20 week program, but I grouped it into a 6 week and I'm not having trouble, just study on the weekends and plan out "ok, today I'm going to do chapter 10 and tomorrow I'm going to do chapter 11" and stick with your plans

Its good to take the smaller courses first like ACE or ISSA. You will learn a lot from these test. Once you have past these the other certs like CSCS and NSCA will be easier. If you go straight to the hard stuff first it could take you awhile.

Good call,

The last time I looked at was about 6 or 7 years ago but ACE was BY FAR the easiest of the main personal trainer certifications and it is accepted almost everywhere.

The CSCS was a complete bitch and I even took right out of college, an internship w/ the strength & conditioning dept. and a kinesiology degree.

I would recommend the NASM first for anyone serious about a future in training and no college degree.
