All of the guys at MD forums are pretty much loyal Palumbo/Romano followers - they MADE that forum and Palumbo would be available 24/7 answering question after question. He's well liked and followed in the BB world - Im sure if he opens his own forum then branches of from their he'll be good to go - being online you can spare many of the costs associated with a traditional magazine.

Statement by Steve Blechman Regarding Dave and John's Termination
In light of recent circumstances, I feel it is my responsibility to clear the air and explain one of the many reasons why both Dave Palumbo and John Romano were terminated.

Dave was hired two years ago to be Editor-in-Chief of the Muscular Development website. During the first year, he was instrumental in helping to grow it. During this past year, Dave?s interests were focused increasingly on his side businesses of training athletes and launching his supplement line. John was hired by Dave as a paid employee to endorse and promote this supplement line. Because of this, John?s position as Senior Editor was compromised. Together they were using MD and the website as a vehicle to further their own interests, and as a result, less time was being spent on increasing the website?s potential and taking it to the next level. During their employment, Dave and John?s contributions were very much appreciated, and they were well compensated.

Editor-in-Chief and Senior Editor are full-time positions and we require those who hold these titles to be willing to give their total focus. This was not the case. Dave and John have not worked onsite in the MD offices for over one year, which made working as a team extremely difficult. No one person is bigger than the team as a whole, and anyone who thinks Dave or John built MD is sadly mistaken. We have always had the best team of writers, athletes and employees and will continue on that path. When one door closes, another one opens and usually for the better.

I love bodybuilding and have always given MD 100 percent and have only had the best interest of the readers at heart. I ask anyone to dispute the fact that I have always been extremely loyal and generous to anyone who has worked for MD.

We are very excited about having Robbie Durand as the new Editor-in-Chief. He brings passion and incredible scientific knowledge to the site and will do whatever is necessary to meet the same high standards of excellence as Muscular Development magazine. Robbie wants very much to work with everyone in making this a team success. I hope you will welcome him aboard.

In closing, I want to reassure each of you that we will never compromise our mission and will always look to enlighten and inspire as well as search for new ways to continue to make MD the best bodybuilding magazine and website on the planet!

Dave Palumbo and John Romano - fired because of Species
I believe the final word is in. Dave Palumbo and John Romano were fired because of their actions on behalf of Dave?s nutritional company, Species.

John was forced by Steve Blechman, owner of Muscular Development, to publicly announce that he was on the Species payroll, and then a few short weeks later, was fired.

Muscular Development has many authors with long-standing ties to the nutritional industry, and over 75% of their authors have been employed (or are still employed) by companies that advertise with MD (this is a clear conflict of interest, and not how any reputable news outlets conduct themselves, but it is how Muscular Development chooses to do business). I should point out that a minimum of two of their current authors have owned nutritional companies that advertise with MD.

But that?s the problem. The authors who advertise with MD work for companies that PAY for advertising. Dave and John didn?t pay to advertise Species, and instead chose to pimp it on the forums and on their own time in articles, without paying. Advertisers complained, and John and Dave were given the boot.

Robbie Durand (a guy who I remember from my days writing for MindandMuscle) was named as senior editor, and he and Steve Blechman have been busy over the past two days trying to ban members of the forums who may take Dave and John?s side, and deleting threads having to do with them. In addition, they?ve been scrambling throughout the industry to trash Dave and John, and to try preventing the two of them from getting their side of the story out there.

To me, this indicates a degree of dishonesty from the MD powers-that-be?damage control is never necessary if you treat people fairly. With the smoke still settling on this, I?m still comfortable saying Dave and John probably were in the right, and Blechman and MD likely did them wrong.

I?ve contacted Dave to get his side of the story, and my door is and always has been open to John, if he wants to talk.

its sort of like when a dictator takes over a village and decides to first destroy the libraries, archives, and control the press so that the population is no longer "exposed" to "opposing" viewpoints..


if he was truly passionate about bodybuilding and put it in the forefront of his agenda then he would allow the knowledge that has been cultivated by Palumbo's wisdom over many years (and has helped tens of thousands of us) to stay on as public record!!..

People seem to think Steve started MD at the Mercy of Dave and John. Were they instrumental, of course, but were they teh face of MD, absolutely not. Steve knows what the hell he's doing and if he fired those guys, there's probably a pretty damn good reason why.

If they have a conflict of interest, you let them go. You do't lock them out and then delete their threads and ban them along with anyone that liked them. How does their threads have anything to do with that.

Steve to me now is losing credibility (like he had much), and is degrading himself to the greasy, metrosexual pseudo-ghey person that he really is. And with the appointment of Robbie Durand, sounds like Steve now has a new boyfriend that he can sound just like. Anyone that was a regular listener to the show will know that John made sure Dave did talk about species on the show.
I have also never read any article in MD that John has endorsed Dave's supplement company.

As for them advertising on the forums, tough ****. Ive yet to come across any forum that bans members or mods from talking about one particular company.

So Blechman lets see how these sackings affect your sales in 6 months, i bet traffic is down on MD, sales are down and your new 'full of Bull****' radio show has lost a lot of listeners.

i merely mentioned in a thread that john and dave now had a new site up and running without even stating any opinions on the issue of them being terminated from MD and i was permabanned for "spamming" haha.
